    The majority of the choreo was by Sienna Lalau (who also did God's Menu), with secondary contributions from ReiNa (Reina Kaneko). Both of whom were only 19 years old at the time. When Back Door was filmed, 4/8 of SKZ were 19 -- and Sienna is younger than everyone in SKZ except I.N, while ReiNa is younger than all eight members. This masterpiece of sound and dance was made by a majority crew of teenagers (six 19-year-olds), with the only older ones being the four who were from 20-22.

    The imagery comes from God's Menu (all the random people - the guys in hazmat suits, the women who worked in the pit crew, the chefs, etc have been brought along) as well as their debut song, District 9 (the people in all white sweatshirts/pants). The song has a sense of "now they you've tried our menu and want to be with us, you are invited to join the party". District 9 was about breaking away from an oppressive system and creating your own place to be yourself - so it has an element that once SKZ was able to escape and make a place for themselves, they were able to help everyone else break out and be themselves too. Now it's time to party.

    BACK DOOR is awesome! Not for nothing one of TIME Magazine’s “10 Best Songs of 2020”:
    "Contemporary pop out of Korea is almost impossible to classify today. “Back Door,” from Stray Kids, is a prime example: there’s not a single musical style it doesn’t exuberantly co-opt, in an artful Frankenstein that’s as catchy as it is complex. There are dramatic airhorns, slinky R&B breaks, jazz interludes, a trap chorus, electronic beats that would rile up festival crowds and others more likely to be found in underground clubs. It’s hard not to become enraptured by the song’s sheer bravado-both in its multi-layered production and the brassy energy of the eight performers. Stray Kids, who debuted just three years ago, are the latest act poised to break out in an increasingly globalized and free-wheeling pop industry, one that South Korea in particular has been eagerly pioneering. That “Back Door” starts and ends on a cheeky note in English-”Hey, you wanna come in?”-only drives home its willingness to welcome everyone into the fold.-Raisa Bruner (TIME)"

    Dance-wise you should also check out their dance practices for this as they are amazing: there is a BACK DOOR relay dance, a regular dance version (both of which show their moves clearly), plus a version in uniform, and a lovestay version for fans in traditional hanbok (the latter two with more creative camera angles). Spoiled is what we are. I enjoyed all the bits you picked up on.

    2:00 they are just tattoo style shirts - none of SKZ have any known tattoos, though some, especially Bang Chan, have mentioned interest in getting them in the future. JYPE (that SKZ are under) tend to be very restrictive on their artists getting ink, but some of their other artist groups have them (Twice for example). It seems like the industry is changing on ink, but it still isn't super common for younger groups.

    • @AmariLeone
      @AmariLeone  Год назад +2

      See I knew I loved Bang Chan for a reason lol. I have noticed a slight influx of idols with ink & I think everyone should be free to express themselves how they see fit as long as they aren't hurting anyone but what do I know lol

    • @mazzy305
      @mazzy305 Год назад

      I remember Channie said he keeps wanting to get a tattoo but it would make it more difficult to give blood regularly, like more red tape/ hoops to go through rather than just rocking up and giving blood. He donates blood fairly regularly so he isn’t sure about getting a tattoo.
      I think companies didn’t want their artists getting ink because for a very long time being inked in Korea meant you were part of a gang (think Yakuza or mafia), it’s only been recently in Korea that getting a tattoo could be for your own personal expression and not gang affiliation.
      I was watching a Canadian RUclipsr couple who lived in Korea for a few years talk about having tattoos in Korea. They were both inked, they had colourful cartoon style tatts that had zero offensive imagery but they still had to be careful about showing their ink. Like they went to a hot spring and had to have their tattoos covered or they would have been thrown out (this was a number of years ago now though so it might have changed by now). I’m sure older generations in Korea still associate having ink with being in a gang, so I can understand companies not wanting their artists to get tattoos (at least in the 2010s and earlier) especially trainees who are about to debut since they want really clean images for them, having a tattoo would have brought up controversy back then. It may be changing slowly since younger generations are accepting more self expression and aren’t brining up tattoos as a reason to dislike an idol anymore, at least not that I know of.

    Lol you are adorable. And yes, there are two different co-producers they work with a lot. They are friends. One has a name I can't guarantee my ability to spell, so I won't try. I have never looked at it closely enough, however I do know it closely resembles Versace. Which is who you are talking about I'm sure. 😂 The other one they often work with is Hotsauce (He's actually a labelmate of theirs under JYPE, however I'm pretty sure he's signed as a DJ. Not an idol... Or even a producer.) he's one of 3RACHA's closest friends and he's even the inspiration behind their name I believe.)
    That having been said, it's important to point out that at no point will you not find at least one member of Stray kids in the credits of a song. Both in the production/arrangement, and in the lyrics/composition. When it comes to songs on their albums, they like to bring in one of their friends. However you will not find a song on one of their albums where at least one member is not heavily involved. This includes the songs they made for outside projects.
    Such as the show Street Man Fighter,where they wrote and produced the song they gave to the show. (It's amazing by the way, called Heyday, check it out if you haven't.) As well as every OST whether it was for a KDrama, or it was a Japanese track for an Anime. It's called "Tower Of God"... they wrote and produced both the intro/theme song titled "TOP". As well as the outro song, titled "SLUMP". So amazing! The Japanese version of "TOP" has a full fledged MV. Meanwhile "SLUMP" has a beautiful performance on a Japanese RUclips channel called, "The First Take". (Fun Fact~ They were the first Korean group to perform there, and that's what they performed. They were also the first to be asked back a second and third time. As well as the first ones to be allowed to perform a Korean language song.)
    That having been said, it's not always BangChan in the production of it. Other 3RACHA members have in fact done production completely on their own. It's important to remember that. Sometimes, BangChan isn't even on the credit at all for a song. That's why he has fewer song credits, in the 130s, and yet they have about 167+ songs. Those are the songs he had nothing to do with. In fact, on the new SKZ-Replay album, there are songs that for the first time ever do not have a credit for any 3RACHA members. As the members worked on their own solos. (They took the word solo quite seriously, as some of them didn't work with any of the other members, and in fact worked with a co-producer. Or in 3RACHAs case... They worked amongst themselves/each other.)
    Anyways, as I was saying, for the rest of their discography however, you will ALWAYS find their names in the credits, and you will always find them in age order. In other words no matter If Han did the majority of the production, BangChan will have his name first. Meanwhile, if a co-producer came in to bounce ideas off of, then his name will come first. (Because 3RACHA are the youngest in the accredited industry they work amongst) So I always tell people not to take lineup for who had more to do with what. When it comes to lyrics, SKZ members have exclusively written their own lyrics. Aside from a few co-writters on the solos album with the younger members. As well as their first Japanese track, "All In", which was a gift from JYP himself. (The lyrics for that song are the ONLY lyrics in all of the group discography that the members weren't responsible for, much to their dismay.) Lol
    SKZ definitely pride themselves on their music being their own, and JYP kinda sorta a little bit ruined that track record. They couldn't turn him down of course, so they accepted. That said, they still have the production credits for it, but still. Lol It's now the one blight on their record. Haha. Aside from that, you can bet on the fact that you will find SKZ in the credits for every other song included in the group discography. Also, it's actually kinda rare that all of 3RACHA aren't named in the production of a group song. And I have never seen a title song from SKZ (which Back Door is indeed a title track, just happened to be for their repackaged album) that didn't have all three on both the lyric and production credits. The only aspect on title tracks where you will see only BangChan as far as members go, is on his personal projects of course, as well in the arrangements of SKZ songs. BangChan is the only one from the group who you will see in the arrangement credits. And even he is still learning in that department, so you will often see another name with his. He doesn't want to risk it being anything less than perfect, because as you know the arrangement is incredibly important for the overall quality of the track.
    It's only on the main b-sides where you find one or two members of 3RACHA in the credits. And then as you descend into the other b-sides is where you will find perhaps one member of SKZ who did everything, or one member of 3RACHA and one of the other SKZ members. That goes for all credits associated with the song. (Both on the lyrical side of things as well as the production.) Then you have the regular b-sides or unit songs, which is where you will every so often find song credits that show it was written and composed by a few of the other SKZ members only. You will almost always find that one or two, if not all of 3RACHA, in the credits for production. But this is also where you will sometimes find names such as Hyunjin or Lee Know. And of course now, with their solo work, where you will start to find co-producers in the lyric credits, as well as the other SKZ members and a co-producer in the production credits without any 3RACHA members.
    Anyways, I hope that wasn't too confusing of a read. I swear eventually it makes complete sense and you start to realize what an absolutely amazing job Stray Kids do of not only organizing their work, but making sure that they themselves are responsible for the outcome of their work and have at the very least one of their names on every single track in their discography. You also start to realize that they are all about giving credit where credit is due, making sure that all members of the group get to have their music on an album if they want it to be, and how seriously they take being the creators of their music. They work wonderfully as a group. That goes for JYPE artists as a whole, Stray Kids themselves and specially 3RACHA.
    All groups are different, so I can only speak on behalf of Stray Kids. When it comes to the order in which names are listed in the credits of a song. With very few exceptions... Usually having to do with a member of SKZ not in 3RACHA, helping out on a major song. Or if they happened to have much more to do with the song than the members of 3RACHA did. In which case they will put his name first in the credits no matter their age. the names will always be listed in age order. Outside of that, the names are always listed in alphabetical order. Including the members of 3RACHA. On every aspect of a song that they have done together, it will always read BangChan, Changbin, then Han.
    However, that does not indicate a level of contribution. Many groups do the credits that way but not SKZ. Which is funny, because outside of credit they are backwards when it comes to the hierarchy of members. Lol With I.N. having his own song within their discography called "Maknae on Top" and being the member of SKZ that we all "joke" is the real one in charge. (He's definitely the most spoiled idol ever lol) and then in 3RACHA, Han most definitely takes up that position. Lol The other two refer to him as "The Genius" within the trio and their most loved photos of the sub-unit picture Han being crushed in a bear of a hug by Chan and Changbin. What can I say... This is definitely SKZ for ya.

      Thanks for the info you shared about your theory on how the production/songwriting/arrangement works within the Asian market with the KOMCA. The person they co-produce the most with is Versachoi. I know this was a while ago but I want to share my thoughts. I must say that it did become a little confusing especially when you start to speak about "it's not always Bang Chan contributing" and how he "has fewer song credits" or that 'others have done 'production' on their own - just not sure what you meant there. I kinda laugh cause Han was always saying that Bang Chan had to show him & Changbin how the DJ set up worked because they were suppose to be DJing in the video of Git Lit & they didn't have a clue on know how to do it, so he had to teach them...
      I would say that Chan has always had the most production credit for their songs from the beginning of even pre-SKZ for 3Racha. Even though this was written over a 1 year ago, he still had more than Changbin and Han in 3 Racha and not just because he is older and has his name placed first. The KOMCA records for 5/7/23 was Bang Chan - 160 songs, Changbin - 138 songs and Han - 134 songs and this was before 5 Star Album was counted & of course was acknowledge in 11/2023 that Bang Chan has 180 with being #3 ranked in KOMCA, the leader for the 4th gen groups and it still going up.
      To me (just my opinion) every song tracks Starts with the music.. you can write lyrics all day long and you can be the best lyrics writer ever... but without the music that's is all it is - words. Chan is always giving his music away to his members, the whole discography is based around His beats, his vision of their sound. Starting from the survival show, Chan play His tracks for the team to choose, they chose the track Elevator and Changbin had the Genius ideas of share the hell they were going thru & name it Hellevator and Han crafted the words... 3Racha teamwork at its best. These boys fine-tuned the idea of working as a family whether is choreo, singing, (whatever) and 3Racha has always been generous in teaching the others by giving their time and energy in helping each other. We can all learn from that. I agree that it doesn't matter who has their name first or how much their contribute to a song. Thank you listening to my Ted Talk 🕊🖖🏽

    Okay so Back Door is basically a sequel to God's Menu. In God's Menu they speak about making their own music, imprinting tastes on palettes whatnot and back door follows that notion by saying come follow us on our journey. So the 'authorised personnel' they're talking abt are the people (Stay) that they reeled in thru god's menu. Just like, 'follow us through this door and you'll find even more songs". And the people in white that you were confused about is directly related to their debut song District 9. It ties in with skz's storyline and in D9 you'll see a lot of people in white that are kinda lifeless and follow along orders and basically live stiff lives, skz were also stuck in that until they break thru that cycle when they realise that they're trapped in some odd setting. In a black and white world, if my memory serves me right, I think chan sees a red rose in the D9 MV. Once they find out they're some sort of experiment they break thru and kinda run wild ig? lol. anyway, the people in white are also people that they're slowly but surely reeling into their 'district', their own little safe haven if you will.
    and throughout most skz videos you'll find lots of hints at cooking up new things, chefs for one, the chemists dealing with test tubes n stuff, and they all indicate 'creation' basically. Just emphasising the fact that skz are self produced.
