Given they get married in a Lovecraftian church of Cthulu I think the real twist is that they all knew he was an octopus the entire time and wasn't fooling anyone. What a tolerant society.

The mechanical bull in every restaurant is a common misconception, actually! In TEXAS it's a bull (a longhorn specifically), but around the rest of the US it is often a bald eagle instead! Sometimes themed restaurants are able to get permission to use another animal, for example Outback Steakhouse typically tries to get a kangaroo or crocodile for more Australian Vibes. As long as it is large enough to be ridden like a mechanical bull it will be considered by the American Restaurant Board of Entertainment Services (or ARBES, obviously named after the first fast food restaurant to implement the Mechanical Bull to their stores, Arby's, as part of their cowboy and americana old west theme).

Thank god for the hardworking crew of ARBES New Operational Machiners Nationwide Organization for Maintenance, or NOMNOM for short. I seriously think the American restaurant entertainment industry is the real reason most of our restaurants stayed in business during the pandemic. (Classic mechanical rides are still my favorite).

I love the game room where you're getting prizes to distract and console your wife, and she gradually reveals more and more of her confusion and doubts about you. The whole game is so good at nailing that silliness through and through.

It’s not just the restaurants in America that have a riding bull thing. They’re in every establishment. Grocery stores? Yes. Gas stations? Of course. Hospitals? Absolutely. You just don’t usually see them cause they’re in a back room rather than just out in the open most times 😌

I was pleasantly surprised to hear a callback to the supermarket monster. My siblings and I quote that line at each other all the time. Until our fat goes bouncy from laughter.
I love that Octo got up at 2pm and somehow he managed to cook burgers for his family (which they selfishly didn't eat.) Take his family to the shop and then a trip to the aquarium, have to look for his kids in said aquarium... Be exposed by the chef and have a flashback to his "captain days" on a ship and then still have time to rescue his family from said chef.
Octodad's life is pretty much the statement from Fallout 4; "Everything can change in an instant; whether or not you're ready." 🤣

I just presumed at least one of them were ace spec or at least to some extent disinterested in sexual intimacy and therefore that didn't actually become an issue. Still wanted a family at least, so they adopted.

As an American I can confirm the bull riding machines are in every restaurant, gas station and even churches. They also frequent jukeboxes that play tapes of only Johnny Cash.
As an American (particularly a Texan where the mechanical bull originated) all establishments do in fact have a mechanical bull (or horse the psychos) that all work for around 10 dollars a ride. Some grocery stores hold ride-offs where people can enter into a contest between 5-10 people where they can earn oftentimes around 250 dollars or more

I'm a new yorker, and I can say with absolute certainty that there is a bull in every restaurant, actually, it is common practice for the richest guest to "rodeo" after they eat, while everyone one else claps, giggles and cheers.
As an American I can confirm. I have literally never been inside a restaurant that does not have a mechanical bull. Some even replace all the seating with mechanical bulls, it's why we need to tip the wait staff. It's a big mess to clean when you leave.
