Nürburgring record attempt ends in the barrier

- Was on pace for a 7:15 sport auto Nürburgring lap in the ESS Supercharged BMW M3 when the waterpump exploded and spilt water on my rear tires going in to the "Galgenkopf" corner. Car spun and I hit the barrier pretty hard.

Mussh Wins gotta say, his driving on this lap was a bit suicidal. He pushed it too hard, there were several times I thought he was gonna lose control. Look for M3 e92 stfu boosted and you'll see a much smoother yet really fast driver
He pushed for a hotlap and to me it seems he was inside the limits. Until his waterpump broke and made him slip. Gonna check out that video you mentioned.

I felt bad during the ride only because of the video name, and then, it was not even his fault. Ah.
Damn dude I was so impressed by that lap. I thought the title was clickbait and was wondering what corner it would be the whole time. The spin out totally surprised me.

You Sir are a Ringmeister! I drove the ring for 4 years while a pilot in the Army and studied under Michael Martini. This is best video lap since Hans Stuck BMW record run . U use the pedals like Walter Rohrl in a Group B Audi.
Absolute masterclass on attacking the ring. U will get your record. Thank you for the lesson.

Something that appears to be a dying art for some reason.
Never used left foot braking, when I raced at the original Kyalami F1 circuit, but can imagine it being an advantage on the Nordschleife with all the corners.
It will get worse with time. The new M2 has auto rev matching that you can only disable with traction control rather than independently. Pretty annoying.
Glad you weren't hurt. Fantastic video, though. I really enjoyed the clear view of the heel-and-toe downshifting.

I'm absolutely still in the game, but I race a different car this year. I race in the VLN championship at Nürburgring together with a German team called Sorg Rennsport in a BMW M235i race car.
The supercharged M3 has been rebuilt after the crash in the video above, but sits most of it's days in the garage. I just don't have budget for both the VLN program and race in the M3 this year.

Im no BMW fan, but i must admit it seems this driver skids out for no apparent reason... Unfair bad luck, coz driving was quite phenomenal.
The car broke down and then had water thrown on the tires..

Water pump failure dumped water, which caused a complete loss of traction at the rear.
On that last turn theres a pothole on the right corner, His car picked up from the rear while he was still on throttle, those other comments About the water pump are wrong

First your door, now this. Luck wasn't on your side. The car was still driveable for at least 5 meters I presume? Then you should have turned it 90 degrees, you were quite lucky we had good marshalling system that day, otherwise you or someone else would have been in extra trouble.
Boosted Boris I guess that how it is sometimes. Things doesn't always go your way, but on the other hand it could have been alot worse... Yes as it turns out I could drive the car a few meters, but at that point I thought I slipped on oil, so I wanted to kill the engine as soon as posible and just roll to the inside as much as I could. Would have been smarter to do as you say of course..

I looked at the spin like 5 times and really didn't see anything wrong except that you didn't accelerate off the apex. Then I read the comments that the water pump had just scattered. So, all said, you did good. Was an amazing drive up to that point. Glad you are safe.
I probably watched every 'ring video,some with great joy but this was much more then joy..This is more than amazing..

Insane driving man, constantly on the edge. Very nice. At first I thought you had turned in too early and that the correction caused the spin. I should've known something was amiss from the unnaturally fast rate at which the back end came round!

I lost my back end at that corner too, however I can't blame a mechanical defect, just useless driving at half your speed. Seriously impressive driving!

Ah, so that was the noise from bits rattling?
I have one question. From 3rd gear onwards an accellerating you can hear a vibration that rises in pitch as the speed increases. What was that noise? I'm guessing a panel, or the diff if it was solidly mounted etc.
It's a shame you crashed. I went past the car on that lap and wonder at the time how you could crash! But all is explained.
I think it's from the diff that vibrates with the hard mounts. It's suppose to be some noises in a race car... ;)
It's driving on edge abilities. Now or later it must be happen.
