When we were visiting Hawaii, the tour guide chopped off a piece of sugar cane and let us chew on it. Interesting sweet-bitter taste. I prefer the brownish sugar cane sugar over that white sugar. Somehow tastes better in my coffee, or it's just just my imagination. ☕️

I don’t think the people cutting down the canes are farmers. I hate to say it but the first thing that came into my mind when viewing is they reminded me of slaves which is disgusting. I would think it would be easier, more cost effective and faster to use some type of cutting and loading equipment and give these men a decent job with a livable wage.
