For all of us who also loved Bob Novak and Rush Limbaugh, Victor in his own spectacular way continues to carry the torch for enlightened conservatism. Long live Dr. Victor Davis Hanson! 🐻🇺🇲🙏
I love these talks with VDH. I wish someone had done this about 10 years ago with Thomas Sowell. I have a 2 month old, my 9th child, and she is up by 5am to nurse. I look forward to listening to these chats in the early morning before my house becomes very loud for the day 😊 Thank you for keeping me company.
In the small rural high school where I started, the "foreign language" options were Latin and Spanish. Bitter sweetly I elected Latin, realizing today that Spanish would have been more practically useful, but Latin grammar study sure made comprehending English grammar and learning German far easier for me! So, cheers! Here's to the dying breed of those like VDH who still believe in teaching the classics! 👍🐻🇺🇲
We had 4 languages in my all girl HS plus Latin. I picked Spanish & there was a boy I liked & said something to him. His response, sweetheart I’m from Cuba & I have no idea what you’re saying. Because they teach Castilian Spanish in HS. My friend is from Columbia & same thing. It’s like all the different dialects in German.
I Feel so Blessed to hear Victor Everyday and it's Like being at a Library reading every book that I never knew I'd want to read lol , God Bless You Victor 🙏 ❤️ Love ya Alot !! 🇺🇸
1/16/25..Jack & Victor live video format is great!...same with Sami Wink on Friday & Saturday. Graet content on wide variety of current topics...mixed with Victor's frequent 'voice immatations & arm gestures' of persons on topics of interest; very often Victor's 'performance' is very funny😄! A+✅️👍 Love this channel & all serious info provided. Stay safe & carry on!↗️🍷😊
I so glad others are saying the same thing. I do think the visual is 1000% better than a random loop of unrelated pics. And VDH is a hoot in his honesty. Closet comedian.... His example recall is amazing. Just their rooms instead of a studio setting is a winner too.
Good talk, objectivity. Constructive suggestion: Mr. Hansen's microphone overdrives (I think), but maybe not, maybe hardware or software caused, maybe the stream cuts momentarily? I watch RUclips all day for now, it's not typical. Good Job!
@5:54 That was Hoover's problem-he was an engineer, and he had an engineer's instincts. So when the stock market crashed, his instinct was to have the State intervene to try to correct it, instead of letting the market forces play themselves out. It can be argued that he made it worse with his policies. And then Roosevelt magnified that, as a true believer in State intervention in every aspect of our lives.
Hello, I have to say I enjoy watching and listening to both of you, nice job this is great! I'm learning so much and blown away by how much these times are very much in the realm of Good vs. Evil! Thank you for sharing expertise, knowledge and expert information. I do love the classic digs 😂which are well deserved against the Leftist Progressive idiots! Victor your intelligence is outstanding! I'm so intrigue with you.. YOUR stellar! Your in GODS hands, he picked you for this time in HISTORY, peace be with you and you are ❤'d very much! AMEN! 💫🙏🏻
Thanks for broadening my thoughts, Victor. I admire you so much. You are a brilliant scholar with common sense and a sense of humor. God has certainly blessed you
Herbert Hoover's boyhood home is at West Branch, Iowa, on I-80. The people of the town have lovingly restored it the way it was in the early 1900s when he grew up there. Well worth stopping by to see it if you're driving that route. The book THE SHATTERED DREAM BY Gene Smith (published 1970) tells a wonderful story of his great achievements, then how the Great Depression undid his popularity.
Sir, your love of the classics really comes across as does your heartbreak and disappointment that this valuable subject has been treated so shabbily by the academic establishment. I get a lot from your commentary on US politics and especially the details of what goes on in California. Thank you.
VDH is a national treasure and when we loose his since of humor and how he shows the ridiculousness of today reflected in the mirror of the ancient world our world today will be a darker place because as was talked about here they are not making men or women like him anymore.
Dr. Hanson I found this on Grok I use google for commercial use. "University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida, with an enrollment of over 70,000 students (as per the latest data). This makes it the largest university campus in terms of student population in the United States." I don't know if you were using student population as the measure. Also from Grok: In the Autumn 2024 15-Day Enrollment Report, Ohio State University reported a total enrollment of 66,901 students
If I could offer an observation on the video presentation, it's that I like the "Garryowen" better than the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" as the theme song. Not that I don't like the "Battle Hymn", but I'm just used to the "Garryowen" as the theme for the episodes hosted by Jack.
Recently heard that Karen Bass has taken 6 foreign trips at the California tax payers expense. And she had said she would not do one. Guess the allure was too much for her.
I work in large engineering projects, in mining, and DEI hiring practices have infected large mining companies. Just as an Example BHP in Australia has gone from 10% female employees to 50% in 12 years. The only way that they have done that is not hire one male, and white male, in 12 years. Its the same with many other companies. There are lots of old guys with a lot of experience who are leaving or being pushed out because they have no chance of ever getting a job. The net effect is there are lots of projects with very few people with any experience. In combination with the misandrist nature of HR departments its not worth it for most men.
Lots of odd skips in this one, at first I thought it was auto-moderation to delete bad words, but there are many cases where 1 syllable of a word is dropped but not the next. Fun episode regardless, but jarring in places where the skips occur.
If US agriculture would stop planting high oxalate plants - such as almonds - since summative oxalate overload is definitively harmful to humans, then water, soil and resource allocations could go to foods that support human life. Please refer to TOXIC SUPERFOODS by Sally K Norton, MPH.
@37:00 and following - That sounds like an example of the Pareto principle, more or less, that roughly 50 million smartest and most capable people in the world keep us competitive. The other 300 million or so are along for the ride. They get by, but they don't exceed.
Love the shows lately but what is with all of the spots where the audio is cutting out?? Also, when the host keeps interrupting and talking over VDH, you can’t hear what Mr. Hanson is saying. Really annoying.
Zuck's unnamed sister wrote _Not All Dead White Men_ -- all about how the modern right misappropriated the misogyny of the classics. Cuz, ya know, we all studied Homer in the original Greek, unlike Princeton (her PhD). Latina est langua mortua, in arena jacet. Prima necavit Romanas, nunc nos interfacit!
I hope the LA victims don't come to South Louisiana. It was bad enough when everyone from New Orleans came after Katrina. We have already filled every construction job in the past 4 years. Although we do have much better Mexican restaurants. Californians tend to bring their politics with them. That's the last thing we need.
I don't really agree with Hanson's characterization of Zuckerberg. I suspect if Biden's operatives had called up Hanson, or any of his fans, and started screaming abuse, they would have immediately recoiled in horror, and probably hung up. But I think Zuckerberg was, initially at least, a true believer, and absorbed such behavior as a distasteful anomaly . And it took a while to realize it was not an anomaly at all. He, and his fellow silicon true believers didn't defect until they had an alternate safe harbor, and to that extent, I suppose, it would have have been appropriate to classify them as "opportunists",as V. Ulanov would have done. But, I suspect that his motives were more complex and less direct than Hanson has proposed.
Could it be said that communism is the industrial version of the ritual: the human sacrifice? The communist mindset denies meritocracy because it views it as wasting time, and improper for maximal prosperity. Perhaps even completely denies that it has any value… That the modern villagers intellectualise the vision is secondary to the implicit sacrifice they know will have to be struck. If meritocracy is the one true north, and despite its inherent flaws, does allow you to individually succeed - contrast that to the communists, and you start to see they aren’t so much unaware of the death that Marxism brings, but actually, and perhaps more importantly, fully engaging with the notion that sacrifices must be made. If we look to the history of communism, it isn’t so easy to tell that the people were desperate under communist rule. Even if it appears those who died clearly were. But having watched our modern west slip into a weird parasitic mind, it appears they may have been willingly engaging with the death and destruction. Not seeing it as so much terror and horror - but rebirth and greater good. Don’t ask me how this is possible - but the modern west is demonstrating how any old crazy ambition can appear normal if it touches on a certain nerve. Unlike perhaps how the capitalist strikes a sacrifice of the incapable - the communist inspires a belief of prosperity and rests its own version of merit on group adherence. Any unnecessary loss is viewed as a worthy price paid? Nobody is of value but for the value of forward motion, toward the highest aim. Yikes. Lest they be cast from the highest cliff… It’s not explicitly stated as such, but it becomes quite hard to deny the implicit connection, of a bold vision for the future at the sacrifice of the present; this could be giving up property, liberty, life. The craziness we are witnessing in the west is a pathology that is viewing death as rebirth. That pain is sacrifice. Notice it isn’t the elders (influential class) who will pay the price (although true believers will sacrifice out of a sense of duty). It’s biblical, ritualistic. Like the women in the street wailing to the gods - social media has become a place to wail and be present. What has become clear to me, being a UK resident, is that there is a mind virus in the west that is almost openly denying people their rights; always these rights go missing for the bold vision of future - an unfathomable departure from meritocracy, is replaced with a bold sense of goodwill and shared view that the ends justify the means. When the life and liberty of your fellow man becomes secondary to the thoughts in your head… Isn’t that time to consider just exactly what people’s true aim has become? It’s industrial, simply by it being in the era of technological advancement, but the premise holds true - our belief has switched from the sanctity of the individual, to the prosperity of the group. The ‘group’ can be whatever, just so long as those in the group are in agreement with the sacrifice. Hope this doesn’t sound too crazy - I’m just bewildered how common sense and decency is being displaced, by a sense of moral virtue that believes the potential future holds more worth than the reality of life in the present.

Could listen to Victor for hours! So many insights here… thank God for the brilliant among us!
I love these talks with VDH. I wish someone had done this about 10 years ago with Thomas Sowell.

Thomas Sowell is also #1.
Wow, 9 youngsters, God bless you and your family!
I get a kick out of him using the Skeletor ref to refer to himself.
I enjoy these morning shows. Great way to start the day.
Victor is the Best🇺🇸
Really love the new video format ❤ Victor is my favorite commentator and I never miss a podcast. So awesome to see it as well as hear it!
He's my favorite too. I listen to him everyday.
Ditto from Colorado! 🐻🇺🇲
Same here! I gain more knowledge every day listening to him and those who interview him.
I loved Rush as well, Victor. What a gift to have been in contact with him.
Now I can start my day off a little wiser! Thank you.
Thank you gentlemen! I tune in regularly to this channel. Appreciate the social commentary, history lesson, and anti-DEI sentiment.
Informative but of most importance is the humor and friendship between both of you, thank you for letting me feel a part of it.
Anyone who has been maligned by the left I make sure I listen to. Thank you Mr. Hanson for your words of wisdom.
Skeletor? Never! Thank you for sharing your humor and insight! My favorite commentator too, hands down!
So excellent. I hang on every word.

You Guys are so much fun to watch- as well as, listen!! Love your humor!
good timing !
I studied 4 years of Latin in highschool in 1964 in Toronto with 2 final exams, Latin authors and Latin composition. We had to memorize Latin poetry.
This is what the students need to hear. They need to understand where their tuition goes.
Neither their parents nor their pubic school teachers will allow it.
VDH and coffee 🎉
AWESOME!!!
Hello from Spain. Love the content and commentary.
I’m always wiser after my VDH fix 💉
my Favorite Skeletor.

The mayor of LA needs to be thrown in prison.
Jack, The lighting in your studio is making your skin appear pale. A little more white light on your background would probably help also.
Hence the reference to Skeletor.

Alot of important words were chopped out of the dialogue 😮
I wanna hear your take on Mann....
Thank you guys for the show. Jack if you would raise your camera just a little I wouldn't have to look up your nostrils.
Constant audio cut out. 😒
I wasn’t sure if they were audio cuts or if Victor was cursing about DEI and it was bleeped out! 😂
Lots of odd skips in this one, at first I thought it was auto-moderation to delete bad words, but there are many cases where 1 syllable of a word is dropped but not the next. Fun episode regardless, but jarring in places where the skips occur.
ugh...so depressing
I just bought Who Killed Homer. I was intrigued by the title.
D.E.I-Depravity, Eradication & Insanity!

I went to join VDH’s blog and it’s not $5.00/ mo or $50.00/ yr, It’s now $6.50/65.00 . Inflation I guess
i should have paid more attention to the Latin class in high school.
University of Cincinnati is taking a group of students to South Africa this May, 2025.
