The lineart smudges on the face is because it's the last area you do line art on. Since you do the body first, the ink has more time to dry so i recommend doing to face first so it has time to dry and then the body.
I’ve found that some papers are better at not having line art smudge than others. The main reason why I don’t like to use marker paper is because most inks just sit on top and it tends to smudge more. Mixed media paper often doesn’t smudge as long as you give it time to dry. I also tend to color the areas I lined first since they’ll be more dry; this also prevents smudging on the face since I normally do that last!
True but mixed media paper is a MONSTER for drinking up the marker ink, and it bleeds just like any other paper. I just recently got some Rendr paper, being tired of the bleed, and it works superbly in conjuction with UniPin liners (just give em a few mins to dry)
@@spam-el3ee I don't mind the bleed through very much because the Ohuhu markers come with that little plastic sheet (or I use my scrap paper), but I didn't even think about it drinking up the ink! I haven't noticed any major ink loss yet, so maybe it's the specific brand I use 🤔
@@KaylaGillery Ah, yes, the plastic sheet. It does protect from bleeding to the next page, but it sadly can't help with bleeding to the other side of the same page! Since you pay for ALL of the sketchbook, I just opted to find a dual side bleed-proof paper :) And I use Copic, so you're right, there could be a brand difference too.
Bristol board had been so nice for doing inks + ohuhus. Mixed media by canson has been okay but I've always had to keep an eye put on the bleed. It likes so slurp up the marker. Idk if it's the brand or what. Have yet to try the ohuhu sketch books/paper
It's been awhile since I last commented on one of your videos, just wanted to say these turned out amazing!!! I always live seeing your traditional work, esspecially when when you use markers. And those outfits are so cute!!! I love seeing overalls!!!
AH YOUR BACK WITH THE TRAD ART ‼️‼️ i have yet to find a good method of coloring until ive seen your ohuhu marker videos. simple, but beautiful! good job!
The paper also affects your lineart smudging, so you might wanna try different paper. For pens, I like the basic Ohuhu liners (not the colored set or the liquid kohala type that you have). The ink isnt very strong, so its more like a very dark gray, but it never smudges
I feel like the purple color looks better as it's opposite to the green hair. The blue looks a bit odd, in my opinion, but it looks very nice in general! I love your art style so much itlooks so cute. At the start of the video I was like "hmm th8s character looks familiar" and when you showed her I was like "I knew ittt" I really like this character
I think I know the solution to your issues with coloring the face (and the lines bleeding)! So, you lined everything else first and left lining the face for last. As a result, everything else had longer to dry. I think for next time, you should either leave coloring the face for last, as you lined the face last, or you should line the face first if you want to color the face first. I hope that makes sense! Great work once again with the traditional works! It's very soothing to watch :)
YOU SO REAL WITH THE TRADITIONAL ART STATEMENT LIKE- i dunno what it is about it but it’s like- mesmerizing or easier or some and i feel like you can actually add a bit of personal flare when digital is kinda harder, lemme know what you think.
yep, i feel like the fact that i have so many tools to easily fix my art in digital makes me get hung up on it. but in trasitional, its permanent so i just accept the mistakes
hi:D don’t know if u tried them but for me copic fineliners work perfectly! They don’t smudge and they dry rlly fast🫶 (I usually color other parts of the drawing first and then the face)
The fine liner smudging could be because of the paper? Sometimes the paper I use effects how badly the lines smudge with alcohol markers. You could try testing out different paper textures and see if that makes a difference. Love your videos and art btw!! You’re a super huge inspiration to me and how I colour my drawings :3
Hey! Any tips for balancing drawing for uni and drawing for yourself? I can’t seem to find the time or energy. But then I think that it’s just the fear of not trying both at the same time? Really scared to be burnt out from trying
QUICK TIP: Just using Stabilo Point 88 or other kind of similar pen don't smudge with alcool markers, they smudge with water based ink ! I know its kind of an ad for the ohuhu liners but i don't know why every pen liner from alcool markers company that i used bleed with said markers...

I think blue fits a little better but both r good
yeah!!! traditional art!!!
Love it! There is some challenge using Ohuhu markers, when it comes to smudging, you have work around it slowly.

Thank you for making more traditional art videos!
I think lavender would look really nice for her shirt.

i lined the face on attempt #1 and it still smudged badly after drying for hours :( but i will def try to remember that for other tries!
YUMMY ARTSTYLE
Time to add it to the feast of food
YOUR ART IS SO GOOD😩🙌💗🛐🛐
Lighter alcohol marker colors usually smudge regardless of the line art but trying different paper might work too.
Like people say microns don’t smudge but they always do for me, especially the lighter colors

the smudging could also be the humidity? or the paper or a combo

Not me getting this notification right after I just received my Amazon package of Ohuhu markers 😂 but I’m happy nevertheless
yippeee
for me it doesn’t smudge because i erase the sketch under so some of the pigment dies down and it doesn’t smudge anymore:)
Not first but semi-early!❤❤ (This is probably gonna be the closest I get to first & I'm fine with that😅😂)
