If you are familiar with mason’s delivery he fired off more funny jokes in one hour than any comedian in history. I don’t think you can sit thru more than a few seconds without laughing. One of the all time great’s .
Agree 100% . Jackie’s delivery was second to none .Don Rickles is up their but Jackie’s humour is more cerebral . Seinfeld , Dangerfield, Pryor, Red fox, Murphy, Hope, Youngman, Jack Benny, Milton Berle are also some of the greats but Jackie is in my opinion ahead of the class at his peak.
RIP, Jackie. We will miss you but we know that you will keep the show going until we hear you again! Rest knowing that you always brought millions to laughter for decades in your time on earth. We will remember you!
Wild, that's exactly what i thought about when I heard about Jackie's passing. So I watched a few of them then thought....I wonder if Jackie and Dean ever did any routines together that may have given Fritz the idea of the voicing which brought me here. RIP Jackie & Dean.
This is yet another illustration that Jerry Lewis was right about Dean being the greatest "straight man" in comedy ever, and he does it, seemingly without effort. Although Jackie is very funny here, Dean's responses and reactions take this sketch several notches higher.
That's reaching a bit. First of all, a great straightman-like Bud Abbott, who WAS the greatest of all time--interacts with the comic, sets up jokes, reacts, etc. This was basically a Jackie Mason monologue, which he could have done just as easily addressing the audience (if there was one) directly. Dean did NOTHING here. Laughing and making faces while Jackie prattles on was not genius in any sense of the word. He was probably relieved that he didn't have any cue cards to read for this one.
I agree with you but if you watch Johnny Carson you will also see a fine comedian who knows how to be a straight man. With Rickles, with Jackie Mason, and a bunch of other comedians he will just sit there and let them go and that is a sign of a real pro
@@facetime4me I agree , Johnny and Dean were versatile enough to play the comedian as well as the straight man What set Dean apart was that the guy was great at everything he set his mind to. Acting, singing, etc. I'm sure he would have made it, with or without the overrated Jerry Lewis.
@@josephconner3742 Dean was quite funny himself, but in a more subtle and spontaneous way. Lewis could never have made it without him. The difference between Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis is that Jerry Lewis forced his humour on you, it was over the top, he was a rather grim human Bugs Bunny. But Dean was gracefully funny, and had a sense of humour, if you know what I mean. He had a lot of humanity and kindness, which Lewis never did have, and that's why people love Dean. As for Lewis, they didn't call him The Dark Prince of Comedy for nothing. He certainly had something going on under there, but it wasn't humour. He even admitted that he bullied Dean and betrayed him. I got an eye opener about him when I saw his drag act in the Army movie, he really does an excellent drag. He was offered a part in Some Like it Hot, but was apparently afraid of 'gay' rumours, so he turned it down, unfortunately. Lemmon has been eternally grateful.

The funniest part is that Paganini had been dead for about 130 years, and of all the great current Jewish violinists that were alive at the time of this sketch he could've named he chose the greatest of all time, Niccolo Paganini, an Italian. R.I.P. Jackie, your wit was not lost on this gentile.
@@garryberman894 Dean was an expert at letting people do their thing. Very much a star, he was a man with a lot of presence. It would not have been the same with some guy on the set sitting in the chair.
First of all, so called "Jackie Mason", wasn't his real name. There was nothing wrong with his actual birth name,Yacov Moshe Maza. He obviously "sold out" her birth name because of the shallowness of the entertainment industry?! Most likely the change was made as the result of a greedy Business Manager, with perceived notions of greater recognition accompanied with monetary gains? In reality, it's also shows blatant disrespect for one's parents & their family heritage, just to possibly obtain (not earn) a greater buck?!
It was. And speaking of rugs, he told this story back in the day: A woman meets her friend whom she hasn't seen in years. "Look at your hair for God's sake. It looks like you haven't washed it since who knows when. It looks like a wig." "My dear it so happens that it is a wig." "You know from the way you had it styled you really can't tell."
j walkin I have always put that down to two things: first of all both his parents were from Italy, so of course Dean inherited the dark Mediterranean complexion. Also, it’s well-known that he spent a lot of time on the golf course, and in California and Las Vegas that meant many hours spent in the hot desert sun acquiring a more-or-less permanent tan.
Rest In Peace, Jackie Mason. Thank you, for the memories. 💕
RIP Jackie, you were one of the greatest of all time.
Amazing, Dean Martin and the wonderful Jackie Mason. I saw Jackie in concert at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario, some years ago, he was a riot.
That's awesome. I saw Jerry Lewis doing stand-up in Las Vegas in the mid 90s. We never stopped laughing 😂😂
RIP Jackie Mason...one of the greats!!

Nowadays, if a comedian can crack as many funny lines in a full hour-long show as Jackie cracked in just 5 minutes, he's a superstar.

One of the Greats !
The original Ant (Martin) & Aardvark (Mason).

A brilliant entertainer, but a horrible human being.
Jackie didn't do the voice of the Aardvark. John Byner.

The two voices John Byner imitated in the Ant and the Aardvark cartoon.
