Tree guys are always shady.. never pay them in full until you're sure the work is completed. No matter how much they complain about "needing to pay their guys"
Maybe where your from. All the arborist I've met around here have been decent dudes. Just hired a crew to do 15k worth of tree work (under brush clearing in pines) at a house I'm in charge of getting ready to sell and they've been nothing but respectful, on time and appreciative for the work.
I own a tree service, and we never get paid until the job is finished and the customer is happy. We never have complaints and have great reviews. This guy wasn’t even a tree guy, more of a landscaper sounds like to me.
My ex used to cut down trees for people (not a company but more like a handyman) & stump removal was never included & said it wasn’t an option with him. And we live in a large cup du sac & there’s a certain well known tree cutting service here & even they won’t touch stumps. When one is needed to be removed, it’s another company that comes to remove it.
He was gonna just cut the tree to ground level and then pour concrete over it🙄, and if the tree lives it will push through and crack the pad and if its dead then it will rot and be a weak point under the concrete……..either one would make the pad fail eventually! 🤨🤦🏽♂️
I don't think they were going to do a concrete pad.... For a shed, level and compact some type II. But yeah, the stump should be gone for that project.
That actually happened to me. We were building a patio for the backyard and part of the roots of our large tree pushed through the concrete hand to shorten the length of patio.
These two deserve each other. Both have personalities parallel to fingernails on a chalkboard. I might have to sue for pain and suffering, the headache caused by the sound of their voices.

you never give more. than 10% of the cost up front. my guy has done tree work/landscaping for over 30 years. He has never asked for more than that. As far as the stumps go, you can flush them right to the ground if you do not have a stump grinder. He never leaves a job unless the customer is 100% happy with his work.
You can’t pour concrete over a stump unless you want to have it busted up and replaced after a year or 2 and the best practice is 50/50 before and after granted you do research on who you’re hiring and make sure they have good reviews, reliable, and professional with quality work .
I think giving the plaintiff only $250 was not a fair judgment. This contractor was making excuses for what he knew to be bad practice. On top of that he charged for hauling just to dump it across the street. He misrepresented services he never intended to do. The way he kept making excuses lets you know thks is the way he runs his business. The $250 judgment will not serve as a deterrent, but at least people can see his face and know not to do business with him smh.
Geesh I'm glad you are not a judge. You want to charge a person extra for their crime to make an example of them, instead of giving them a fair verdict like every person should get? Calm down a bit there Adolph
What about the shed pad? He never poured it and was going to pour over a stump? That makes no sense. The plaintiff just assumed the stump would be removed to properly install a shed pad. If it was a straight tree removal, I know (from previous experience) the grinding of the stump would be a separate charge. The landscaper admitted he didn't have experience with installing a shed pad, after he took the job. Plaintiff should have gotten the full 750.
I agree that the work order about trunk removal needed to be more specific. He was bang to rights on dumping the fence though. That was seriously dodgy. He can get someone else to complete the work and he had some money back so I think it was fair. The defendant needs to face up more to his responsibilities.
The Plaintiff looks young enough to go out and deal with the rest of the ivy and move the fence. For fuck's sake, I'm almost 70 and still install my window a/c, got up on the roof the other day to check my LED antenna, mow my own lawn, snow blow my own snow. You have to keep moving or you WILL get old.
… nothing wrong with paying for services. Your comment is weird. Time is money. He can spend time with his family and someone else can mow the grass because he has the money
A major problem with so many Americans is that they spend more time sedate rather than giving their bodies the exercise that it needs and loves. A good yard cleaning exercises many muscles, you sleep better and stave off obesity &/or heart disease.
i really don't get how people don't do a good job. these people pay good money for these jobs. i guess they live on the fact that people won't waste time going to court
Lawyers think it's so easy for a person (after having explained to the company exactly what they want) to then question what the company has put in their quote, if you start insisting that EVERYTHING be detailed, you will be considered a difficult client and they will then refuse to work for you. If he hired a company to remove a tree, he expects it to be completely gone, not a stump left, especially when this company claims to do stump removal and he had specifically said he was going to put up a shed in that spot, so I don't agree with the judge, and since the company was pretty dodgy from the start, I think they were very vague in their quote on purpose to be able to say 'it's not in the quote, so that will be extra'...
Tree removal and stump removal are 2 different jobs. It would be good if the defendant lists does not include stumps. But Tree removal is not tree and stump those are 2 different jobs in the Tree Industry (common knowledge). Since he agreed to remove the fence I would of gave the Plaintiff maybe the time of day but no money.
THE PLAINTIFF WAS ON HIS SHIT BUT HE GOT GREEDY & WANTED EVERY PENNY BK TYPICAL WANTING EVERYTHING DONE & NOT HAVING TO PAY FOR ANYTHING THE DEFENDANT ON THE OTHER HAND HMMMMMM IF NOT FOR NOTHING BUT I BELIEVE THAT HE MIGHT BE A LITTLE CHALLENGED WHICH IS PERFECTLY FINE HE JUST NEEDS TO USE BETTER WORDING I AGREE PIVK UP THAT FENCE & PAY $250 FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE REMAINING IVY

LoL. I came to comments for the same reason 🤣😂

Height of incompetency and irresponsibility ……that is the defendant .
Keep em' coming, love these cases.
Can we talk about that odd rotary wall phone randomly hanging on the wall behind the Plaintiff?!
I like it!
I love seeing old technology like that! It reminds me of my grandparents.

Wrong, stump removal is slays listed on invoices separately. It is difficult and expensive. And usually includes machine rental fees.
