ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
I really enjoy longer footage of sheep getting sheared. It's relaxing to watch.
Thank you guys for keeping sheep going. I hate synthetic clothing. Wool garments and cotton garments are he best.
Be yourself. Do what you do. It's never boring.
Linen is also great, especially in the heat.
Shearing videos are never boring. It's what I come here for. Always appreciate the explanations as well. Glad you survived your hottest day.👍
Love the unedited shearing, very relaxing. 🐑
I find the shearing so relaxing yet educational. The sheep, no matter the breed are beautiful. I would like to know more about the different combs and their applications as to which sheep their used on. As for the shearer.....Cam, as much as you always make me have a hearty laugh I can see the care and dedication you have for the welfare of the woolly ones. I'm not a farmer...newly retired and 5 storeys above ground and have realized --- "I'm living in the wrong country!" all my best to Lizzie! Hello from Canada
This is my favorite type of video of yours to watch...real, unedited, interesting and relaxing. I would watch for much longer if you posted more too. Never boring. For those that get bored, there is always the fast forward button or the can raise the playback speed too. More content please!
I'm not a farmer nor do I raise livestock. I watch because I enjoy the animals and I feel I do learn little things I will most likely never need. That being said, I enjoy you talking about shearing and sat here thinking about watching Charlie in Sandi Brock of Sheepishly Me's videos and comparing techniques (as if I know anything at all). So my vote is thank you for sharing your world and your life with us, your fans.
I love to watch the sheering. I have been binge watching all your videos from California. Thanks for taking time to post these videos.
It's not boring to me Cammy. I like to watch as it's interesting. I enjoy every video. I don't know why the price of wool has gone down today, but I like wool products.
Measure twice cut once🤣👍good video again cooling down here in North Wales 🏴
I never of thought I would enjoy watching you sheering. I love it never clicked so quick!
I could watch a whole video of just shearing. Grand job.
You and Sandi are my daily dose of sheep that I need to stay connected to the Earth 🌎! You provide the natural beauty that has been long forgotten in most urban areas of the world. Cheers to you!🥰🐏🐑
I’m on team sheep sheering unedited. It’s the most lovely asmr. Could watch 2-3 hours just listening to them clippers and bleating. Dream come true would me if you live streamed an entire day of sheering. Truly.
Loved watching the shearing. The antics in the water were hilarious. Thoroughly enjoyed this video 🇨🇦 I’m not a shearer nor do I own sheep but love all my sheep channels.
Quite relaxing watching the shearing with some light commentary.
I like the sheering.
I remember my grandfather shearing without electric shears during the end of Aug. He also had a contest with some Aussies after WW2 and he beat them all just using hand strength alone.
my brother- malcolm O'Dwyer celebrates 50 years - dagging/ crutching/ shearin in his granddads shed now in 2023. he started in 1973. hav not worked out how many sheep/ fleeces/ bales he done in that woolshed on highway 50 in new zealand.
I love watching, it amazes me how easily you handle the sheep ,and I like that you explain everything. 😏
I do like watching the shearing!
Loved the shearing unedited. Interesting, educational and relaxing to watch.
Loved seeing the shearing unedited, its such a skill and is made to look easy. Personal experience says its bloody hard work and takes a lot of practice.
I always think about how awesome the sheep feel after you guy's sheer them. I watch as I've told you Sandi Brock and I watch but don't get to see what I can on yours and Sandi's the on Hall Hill Farm in Australia. When I really was thinking about how far away and out of country you three are I couldn't believe that I can see just in those countries. I love watching the babies being born too. And jumping around too the babies.
Definitely not boring. The timer was a really good guide as to how long it takes to shear sheep. Thanks.
I really enjoy watching the shearing. Very relaxing!! Much faster than I ever thought!
Loved the real time shearing!
I love your shearing videos! 💞
I like watching the shearing
So enjoy watching you. makes my day. Thanks
Cammy Cammy Cammy, well to start I'm your most avid nana fan from WALES!! Fact! I love your energy your spirit and well that beautiful hair of yours, I have had a sheep game marathon and loved every vlog, so from Wales I'm sending you big nana cwtches (hugs) love the vlogs I look forward to my next notification x love Nana Clem xx
Nice and smooth mate good to watch
Cammy, love how you all laugh and enjoy life as you work. Not a grumbler in the BUNCH! Your 1 blond shearer is so pale, I was wondering why he was swimming in his shirt and then I realized it was himself. Keep up the good works!
I love watching you sheer sheep, I love sheep and if we ever find us some affordable land we will have sheep.
Never enough shearing! Lovely to watch
I enjoy watching every video, the shearing is very relaxing to watch.
Love watching the shearing and the great team work, never boring 😄
I like to see this longer parts from time to time. Does not need to be every day, but if I do not want to I can skip it so for all who love to see it. Please keep doing this longer bits.
Love the old music in the background, that was my era. Really doesn't take long to shear one sheep, thought it would take much longer. 86 degrees is not much for summer time in the south here, we are usually well into 90's with killer humidity. Love the shearing videos.
Yes - I agree on killer humidity. We may be about 20° hotter, but usually dry. When we do get some humidity - blagh!
Right? Honestly I consider a day where it only gets to 86 quite pleasant
I can't get over how fast you are!! I've only seen videos of hobby farmers bringing people in and it took a lot longer. You guys killed it!!
What do you do with the wool?
@@mamawnamidreviews9978 it goes to the British Wool Board. There is way more than demand and so worth a couple of cents each. Costs more to shear than they ever get.
Love the shearing. Could watch it even longer.
Wonderful content. Thank you.
Watching full shearings was fun. More please!
Nice! Right Choice Shearing shows gorgeous close ups of sheep, alpacas and llamas getting sheared.
Thats what I said to someone! And Katy is a real wit with that narration! 👍
Ken a lot of those faces ! I like watching the shearing ,definitely not boring 😊
You are a very hard working man Cammy!
Loved the shearing video. Would like to see more of it.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed the unedited shearing. It actually was relaxing watching it. Also very educational on the how and why aspect. I would watch more unedited shearing as long as Cammy keeps narrating and explaining what is happening.
I really enjoy the unedited shearing, especially with your informative voice over. Thanks!
It's a good job you're a better shearer than carpenter!
‼️ Welcome viewers from The Hoof GP! Hope you enjoy and subscribe to this channel. There is lots of variety here - shearing, pregnancy scanning, sheep care in gorgeous landscapes, and my favorite, wee little lambs. All done with the lovely Scottish accents we enjoy on both channels. There's even the occasional sheep hoof trimming! Just wait until you meet Lizzie and Meg. You'll come to love them as we do. Be sure to watch Cammy's version of his day with The Hoof GP. Again, welcome, subscribe and send friends.
You are far too kind! Thanks for the support!
I like that your videos have such a variety of different experiences including the shearing. Just do you that’s what the people are really here for, funny informative and a lot of sheep in places most of us will never see.
I could watch all day long. I find it relaxing.
More shearing videos 👍 - they're educational & definitely not boring. Great start btw 😂😂
I love to watch shearing. You men are machines, my back would be broken!!! As a lifelong knitter I would love to have yarn from those sheep.
I love seeing a tradesman showcasing his craft. Your technique, your comfort level with the sheep, their comfort level with you, the ease with which you sheer them and the near perfectly intact fleece being removed from each sheep is just poetry in motion. Keep up the good work, sir. You are a master of your craft.
I love the shearing!
I'm a "city boy" born and raised near Chicago USA and I do enjoy watching the shearing. I've visited my relative's farms many times and I have a very small understanding of what it takes to raise livestock. I find great enjoyment in watching your channel to see how you raise lambs. I also like the trips to auction and the wool broker. Keep pushing on Cammy!
Love watching the sheering.
Looks like a great swimming hole! The shearing of sheep is very interesting. I have only seen it done in person when we visited Australia. I think the shearing of sheep with the various types of sheep to shear must be somewhat of an art form. The care of the sheep and the shearer is shown through your videos. Thank you for sharing...shearing....
Thanks Donna. I am by no means an expert I just do my best and try to keep learning =D
This is the first Video I watched. I find sheering quite relaxing.
What sort of surprised me is how calm you are sheering and no sheep is bleeding. I saw videos from Australia and the sheeps were all bleeding
GP is so right to encourage us to visit your blog. Fantastic to see there is a pattern in your shearing ! I’ve waited for such a vlog. Love it. We can see how dedicated you are and how much you are enjoying it. Do you have a vlog on different techniques of shearing ? Would love to see it if yes. You are amazing.
Welcome from GP's channel! Cammie is super. The shearing is great but just wait for the wee, little lambies. 🍼🐑
🙉measure twice, cut once🤯Just thinkin, if they are not used for wool,,,oh, nooooo😱Cammy, say it isn’t so❣️
Milk???
Happy to watch anything sheep along with your jokes and laughs
Hi Cammy,
I love watching you shearing sheep, and also when you're working on your own farm. Keep up the good work. Love from Suffolk.
Well said a lot of people thinks it’s cruel they don’t understand 👍
Don’t you love opinions from the seriously Ill informed and uneducated. 🙄
doesn't that get sore on the back being bent over like that, great job of shearing, a super video we all enjoyed it very much also very educational
New to your channel, only a few months now but I really love to watch you all work with the sheep. I watch Sandi all the time. You two are my sheep channels. I admire both of you and yours for the care of the critters. It’s relaxing watching the sheep loose that wool. Just keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your lives with those of us who can’t travel and see for our own selves. Prayers Love and Peace
Boring? I love to watch the thick wool get sheared! It is very satisfying and I know the sheep are comfy when youre done. The teasing you guys do to each other is fun as well. Give us more! P.S. that curly head of hair you have looks like a sheep too!
For some reason I really enjoy the full shears as well. Am always mesmerized too by Sandi's Charlie when she shares his clips too. It is nice to see a variety of shearers so always like when your fellow mates allow some peeks of them too. Why on earth I have no idea but it is calming and nice seeing the animals being handled as you do so nicely and how happy they are with that spa day relief of that heavy mop that is a health hazard to boot. And appreciate there are you guys and gals that are loving this job for all the many reasons. So yes I enjoy. And what a fun well deserved dip in the water spot! :)
Not boring at all. I love watching you all.
I will watch shearing vids! It is also good to hear the reasons for the different moves.
Thanks Peggy!
I enjoy all aspects of your sheep farming. The variety you offer in your videos keeps everyone entertained!!! Awesome to see that the shearing involves all ages of a family. When I was growing up in Kentucky, tobacco as a cash crop involved everyone taking part, young and old! It was a very important part of life on a farm!!! Stay safe Cammy!!!! I'm excited to here updates on your growing family too!!!!
Cammy, I enjoyed watching this video. You make it educational as well as fun. Thank you very much...
I think having some videos that have mostly shearing time is good, that way you can have a playlist with shearing videos for those that find it relaxing. I personally like a bit of a mix. This was a good one today.
I love watching this type of video it's so relaxing
Loved loved loved watching the shearing! It’s mesmerizing to watch. I enjoyed the music too. Thanks so much for sharing. Hi from Canada!
Thanks Lois, glad you enjoyed the vlog 👍
Love it however u do your videos cammy
U want to interview your staff more so we know more about them
But it seams to be a good crack that u all have
I love this kind of content! 😁 it’s relaxing. Tip for other watchers. @Right choice sheering is also fun to watch.
Her commentary is hilarious 🤣
Love the shearing videos, it’s such a big part of keeping sheep
Fascinating, loved it.
Thank you so much for this one and the background you provided. Plus you spoke less quickly which is huge benefit to those of us out in the Colonies. The one on Texels was interesting and I was pleased with myself that, when I googled the breed, I was right about them. They look like hams with wool, and, sure enough, they're a meat breed. It's really relaxing to see you progress through the work. Looking forward to the next one.
Brilliant..
love watching the shearing. I learned on some very big romney x coopworth cross wethers that I had to chase down and wrestle into the shearing spot (usually a tarp), and was taught to shear with hand shears. 15 or 20 minutes depending on whether they were going to kick the stuffing out of me or not...lol. I got electric shears and love them (shearing speed down to 10 minutes, but have a bad back, so still slow). And the shetland/icelandics are smaller than those big boys, but they still kick like mules. Then I hired a nice shearer who trained in New Zealand. I really, REALLY love shearing more when someone else is doing it!!! love the video.
I enjoy watching the shearing. I imagine the sheep are glad to run naked on such a hot day. My friend purchased some blue faced Lester wool to make a sweater. Even though I know that's not what you're shearing today. Have a good day Cammy.
Meanwhile, it takes me a full hour to clip my tiny dog....and she still looks like she was run over by a lawnmower 😂
I found the shearing fascinating, what happens to the wool? Thank you
I love all your videos. It is a joy to watch anything done well!
I love watching the shearing! I have enjoyed all the videos where I am learning about everything that goes on from purchasing, lambing, caring to selling. It's all very interesting. I especially liked the Texel sale recently!
We have a saying here in the states measure twice cut once.💜
That saying is global!
More, more, more👍 love your videos. Keep it up. All the best from the hot US Midwest
I really enjoyed this video immensely! It is so amazing how you can do this, finding all the spots to sit the sheep so it won't thrash around. Your shearing is just so fun to watch. I could watch these videos all day. I used to be a Barber and can relate to using the clippers and I used to shear a few sheep every summer for 4-H, but nothing on this scale. You are very talented and have some superman arms to hold those clippers all day. Good work!
I enjoyed the shearing. I also enjoyed you explaining what fly strike was because, while I'm sure you've explained it before, I've never known what in the world it was when you mentioned it since I found you.
Once it starts on a sheep, they can go down hill very quickly, lambs even quicker and sheep are experts at pretending nothing is wrong.
I love watching ALL of your videos; sheering and sheep. The dogs working are my favorites , though since I have a Border Collie, myself.
A wonderful mash up of all your activities. I love seeing the many generations that gather for this work, from the wee little ones to the more veteran among us. Another fantastic and enjoyable video Cam & Co.
Thanks Michael, a great community we have in farming with everyone able to get involved
I love the skill required to shear sheep, and find it very relaxing to watch. Keep up the great work. Look forward to seeing more videos
We like it 😀😀
More more more please 🧡
Sweet Jesus Cammy! The gun show was superb today! YAY!! TANK TOPS! 💪💪👈
Yes shearing lambing and day to day management of the sheep
Enjoy watching shearing, am a Shearer's granddaughter, daughter, daughter in law and wife of a farmer who still will shear sheep if no Shearer's around. Enjoy it from New Zealand.
I only found you recently. I like the mix of talking and just shearing. It’s relaxing.
