In Formula 1, the pole position is officially awarded to the driver who records the fastest time in the qualifying session, regardless of any subsequent grid penalties or changes that might alter the actual starting grid. This means that even if the fastest qualifier receives a penalty and doesn’t start the race from the front, they are still credited with the pole position in the records. 15:24
No disrespect to Lando as I truly believe he’s a good driver. But now that the season is over, I think the idea of him being WDC in the future is even less likely now than it was at the start of the season. Again, he’s a good driver. But he’s just not on the same level of the “golden trio” of his generation (Max, George and Charles). And that’s ok,not every driver is WDC material or should be expected to be WDC. And hopefully now it’ll be easier for Lando and let him just race and do his best without having that expectation/pressure.

bonus point for tommy for predicting both mclarens to win. Alonso not biggest flop. yes merc did flop. charles had more poles than wins. his pole counted because it would also technically had counted as win if he would have inhereted one after the race through penalties, like Lewis did in Spa.
1) I think double points to Tommy for predicting both Lando and Piastri because predicting new winners or anything need not be an exhaustive list in order to gets points. 2) But also a point to Matt for Leclerc's more wins than poles prediction as inherited poles shouldn't count when qualifying is all about pace and setting the fastest time. 3) I also think for Alonso, while he did really well this season like always and outperfomed the car on many occasions, a point for flop still makes sense as everybody expected him and Aston to be much better than they were. So his fans and Alonso himself were left disappointed and he struggled quite a bit this season, not enough masterclasses. While Merc may be the 'bigger' flop in terms of their car troubles and inconsistencies, but as stated many times in your videos, "the biggest flop" prediction is not really about the worst performer from the grid or the relatively worse one out of the two predictions but rather more about having a result from a driver/team that is worse than expected given the capabilities and historical evidence. I support Matt on the fact that he deserves the point on Charles getting more wins then poles.
5:58 call me a Tommy fanboy but Merc is a flop and Alonso is not
OK Tommy fanboy!
😂
That image of Ayao Komatsu is probably the biggest meme this year; you know the one
14:57 as someone who dislikes the fact that people inherits poles due to grid penalties i think Matt should get a point. The one that goes fastest in qualifying should be regarded as the one with pole.
But it's not
If Tommy wants two points for predicting two race drivers then Matt should get least half a point for getting Charles prediction almost spot on.
Especially as they don't call a second place time a "pole"
oh dear gawd ..... that tissue joke!
loolll crazzyyy😂
🤣🤣
How about doing a podcast of ranking the races of 2024? Give points for qualifying results, overtakes, chaos, drama, etc :)
Alonso is no flop, car fell off. He could have ended his season after 4 Races and still match Strolls season total in points.
I think no one should get the biggest flop point, also give Matt half a point for guessing that somebody lost their race seat but not getting the right person, I think that's fair
Charles didn't get pole in Belgium. It was Max
But Charles started 1st in the race
Pole position means to be fastest in qualifying, not start P1 in the race.
Pole position means to start P1 in the race. It's still considered pole if it's inherited.
Wrong, it's the exact opposite of what you said
@@ww-iz6op agreed pole position is literally the physical number 1 position on the grid.
Being the fastest in qualifying awards you the position
@soundscape26
No, it is not! pole position is defined as the most advantageous starting position o. The grid.
That's why it is (The pole position)
@@jasonfields2793Just read the FIA regulations. A "pole position" is awarded to whoever achieved the fastest lap during qualifying. Even if they are unable to start the race in P1, they don't lose the awarded pole position. You may not agree with it, but it is how the FIA views it.
Mercedes did not flop this season, when you have more wins than the previous season and both drivers were both multiple race winners that does NOT make that a flop for the season.
Matt deserves a point for Charles having more wins than actual pole positions...
Didn't he had like three pole postions and three wins. Ok now i dig it he did inherit that pole 😂 no points
Simplest solution is PLUS ONE point for every correct new Race winner and MINUS ONE point for every incorrect winner suggested.
"No drivers have been memes this year"
Bro, everything Piastri said was a meme.
Matt you can claim Piastri for meme. How about the whole Oscar Leclerc meme around monaco
No point for Alonso, point for the mercedes prediction, 2 points for the oscar and lando wins prediction, and points for the leclerc pole position prediction
In 2024, Lance had almost 36% the amount of Fernando's points, and in 2023 he had just over 34%. So as much as I don't like using Stroll as a marker for whether someone is good, the consistency says it's the car not Alonso, so no flop imho Matt. ❤
Alonso did not fully flop... look at Stroll... also he wasn't catching Perez in the red bull with that car...
I really enjoyed your live show in Canada, can't wait for another one next year :)
No flop points. Both guesses were wildly inaccurate. I feel that Tommy's accuracy in the New Race Winner category deserves both points. Matt does deserve something for the Poles/Races call, but unfortunately it is pity, not points.
For two people who hate waiting on stewards' decisions, it’s ironic we don’t have the answers by the end of the video!
Fernando is not biggest flop at all, you're so stretching
He's best of the rest, Aston only got worse and worse the whole season, and he.had standout moments like China
Whoever is most deserving of the win, what a great show in how this weird and wonderful season made for a great wrap up of the season predictions. Great job Matt and Tommy, and congrats on the success of the channel.
Tommy should get two points for picking both McLaren drivers. If he was wrong on Piastri it would have been zero points so the additional risk in the prediction should carry some reward.
Checo easily gets biggest meme for me. The “Done for the day” was posted VERY often
10:31 Yes. You get the extra point
I think matt gets points for the biggest meme saying piastri. Since papaya rules became a meme after oscar did that lap 1 overtake
For next year, I think you should have teams and drivers categories for every prediction.
And hopefully now it’ll be easier for Lando and let him just race and do his best without having that expectation/pressure.
charles and george ??? just shutup briv lando is better then george makes less mistakes (yes lando does but he was fighting against max for wdc while george makes mistakes when it doesnt matter and is always crash happy george doesnt have the same race pace as lando aswell snd for charles welll they r close but 2022 charles got a chance to show if hes on lvl with max and he didnt instead he crashed in france so even he made mistakes and looked absolutely dejected when losing lando 21-3 “ mini senna” this szn😂😂 got 90 more points then him and put a great fight against max
@@gojoxgeto879Hahahaha 🤣.
Even you don’t believe that. “Put a great fight against Max”, it was like a chihuahua (Lando)Vs a Sabre-Toothed Tiger (Max).
As far as points between Lando and George. Lando literally had the better car. And, if not for Merc incompetence George would’ve probably had more wins this season than Lando. 😂
Also on mistakes, Russell and Leclerc hardly made any that were directly their fault. Meanwhile it became seemingly a running joke of Norris bottling it when on pole. 😂
Tommy gets 2 points for predicting both McLaren drivers correctly
Mercedes won 4 races this season, yes worst of the front 4 but deffo not floppy, and Alonso was best of the rest, you need another sandwich for your picnic if you think that's floppy, no points here
Biggest meme of the season was probably Lance Stroll thanks to Brazil
Unfortunately, Leclerc did start that race from pole at Spa so 3-3 and no points Matt
If Tommy gets Mercedes as a flop, Matt has to get a point for Fernando as a flop
Both not a flop.
15:06 Charles didn’t get pole in spa, he inherited it. Matt gets a point there for sure
Yuki bottle it this year.
Tommy gets a point for each driver plus a bonus for guessing all the new winners
Matt gets a point for the crazy prediction, Charles wasn’t given a tire for the pole position
For biggest flop, Tommy gets the point. With Mercedes, it always felt like especially Russell outperformed a mid car, whereas it never felt like Alonso was underperforming in a great car. The Aston Martins weren't even close to being 'best of the rest'.
Biggest flop was Perez, so no points for either of them.
Mat deserves the point for Oscar biggest meme. We literally had F1 change the Monaco graphic to Oscar Piastri-Leclerc
It should actually be more than two points if he has to have both drivers. Because the chance of two new winners is way smaller than one new winner.
You should do for the new race winner:
correct driver: +1 point
Wrong driver: -1 point
All correct drivers (no less, no more) +1 point
So Tommy should get not 2, but 3 points?
TBH, good suggestion.
Tommy should get 2 points for predicting both Lando and Oscar as race winners.
Brilliant episode!! Many laughs! Thanks guys. Good to see you +500k subs... I predict +750k by this time next year! 2025 is Guaranteed to be a brilliant season with no rule changes! Tommy deserves 2 for both McLarens! Keep up the Great work! Peace love respect
bonus point for tommy for predicting both mclarens to win. Alonso not biggest flop. yes merc did flop. charles had more poles than wins. his pole counted because it would also technically had counted as win if he would have inhereted one after the race through penalties, like Lewis did in Spa.
Stroll driving into the gravel was the biggest meme
we really need a constructors champ prediction, especially with how close it will seemingly be next year
Tommy doesn’t get 2 points because he predicted that both McLaren would win a race
So at least half a point if not a full one to Matt.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. 😅
I am definitely going with Matt on his crazy prediction
for next seasons predictions give two points for every correct driver and minus one for every wrong or missed driver.
