I think going into this film thinking it wouldn’t be a half child half adult tale (which arguably the IP of Mattel’s Barbie has always toed this line) was a mistake.
@@zeldaideal exactly, a Barbie doll having an existential crisis, kinda hilarious. There's a lot going on in the visual tapestry and societal themes which can confuse a thinking person (as opposed to the younger intended audience)
Id say it was intended for all ages as a ridic satire. It seems humorless young ppl on redscare didnt sense that. Perhaps a ‘dark comedy’. But it was openly marketed as a comedy. There were literal ‘snl’ actors in it. It isnt intended as serious drama. It would be like having a morose convo about snl every week. 🤷🏻♀️
Weirdly, I mainly liked ‘Barbie’ despite what it was trying to do. I think that’s because it backfired so spectacularly. Ryan Gosling‘s Ken was the most likable character and all the preachy feminists were repulsive & unrelatable characters. I am personally pro ‘right to choose’ (within limits), but despite this, I found the smashing babies scene viscerally upsetting. I very much doubt that reaction was unique to me (it’s probably evolutionary) so if Barbie was intended to be a pro feminist pro late-term abortion movie, then it did the opposite of what it was intending for most viewers.
Dasha gets you right away but Anna sneaks up and gets you in the long run. Love both!
Half the time I can't even tell who's talking on this podcast
The vocal fry is so much better I can actually listen to this now wow
Frigid take. Vocal fry is hot
Literally heard someone describe this podcast as "mean girls with vocal fry", and that's why I'm here
I still don't know what vocal fry means
Why am I listening to this
Because we all make poor choices in listening to any woman
Yes
I don’t know
Imagine talking about someone else having an incoherent mind while they spend an hour getting each over stuffed vocal fry sentence out.
I dont consider myself intelligent and the ppl on this podcast seem dumber than me. Idiocracy
Braindead take on Uncut Gems.

this is like what I hate about everything now - its like a childlike aesthetic with basically pornographic content
A very strange combination
Barbie was always that. It isnt new. Marilyn monroe was a victim of it
@@zeldaideal yeah I know, but it wasn't always as prevalent as it is now
It was bad over 20 years ago with young b spears
@@zeldaideal true, its been bad fora minute honestly
It took me two good times to watch it for to make a lot of sense
The sense is sense of humor

@@zeldaidealI would kind of believe you if there wasn't that gay speech about how hard life is for women
I thought barbie was a comedy. Which im pretty sure it was. I think to get the humor, you need sense of it. A sense of humor
