There is no solid body electric that can pull off these acoustic tones - nor is there any acoustic guitar that can pull off these solid body tones. So if that’s what Taylor was aiming for.. mission accomplished 🤙🏽

I work in instrument retail and have pinned the T5z against just about every hybrid on the market. What I have found is that while others use digital voicing to achieve acoustic tones (with some doing it convincingly) they all seem to lack the depth that the T5z brings. The other thing that I find is that the others aren't pulling off the electric voicing very well at all (chalk that up to bronze strings) which again, limits the intended versatility.
Another thing to note is that the T5z has experienced some updates with the recent generation that I feel boosted the versatility as a one and done instrument. The controls for the volume, treble, and bass have been moved to the lower wing of the body thus eliminating on of the "F-holes" which I feel changes how the instrument handles being used with overdrive and distortion effects. I feel these are capable of handling much higher gain levels than the previous models with 2 sound holes (your final run demonstrates it wonderfully)

They should market this as a full hollowbody electric with a body sensor for Taylor acoustic tones. Reminds me of Eastman’s Romeo model

Is taylor T5z more feedback proof than T5 standard since it has smaller body?

Having owned a T5z it didn’t compare to my Relish Mary Jane with the Ghost System. Of course prices are similar and Relish just went out of business. I found the electric lacking in thexT5z and with the Relish I could add any pickup I wanted.

The piezo will always sound like poop, unless you take it through an IR.

@@adnap I don’t consider the T5z standard model with spruce top to be inferior to the pro or custom. In fact most true to acoustic tones

@@romeou4965 This video is demoing the $3,800 version of the T5z. I just bought a used 2021 custom and I got a great deal for it at around $1,800 tax-free. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen one sell.
That is what I meant by, not at that price.

Hi, I got T5 Standard and the sound acousticly is better than semi hollow body guitars. Yes, this statement is not so suprising, since its hollow, but it is probably best description of the sound unplugged. It sounds somehow in between acoustic guitar and semi hollow. Good for practising and perhaps, perhaps you could record something semi good with microphone. But since it is hollow body guitar, it feedbacks at overdrive with more volume like crazy, but it is to be expected...

Not worth paying 4 grand for. I have the PRS Hollowbody piezo 2 and I would say not that big a difference in the sound.
