I am going to watch this with my son who is 14 and explain that his secondary school would never teach valuable Information like this.
Haha! Hope it’s not too dry and boring!
I agree…. Going to watch with my daughter. Over the years she’s put her birthday and New Years money into Tesla stock and now proudly owns 20 shares.
@@ld1445 Wow! That ain’t bad at all!
@@SashaYanshin Agreed. The learned habit of investing is important also. She can’t wait for the stock split since we cannot buy fractional shares and she’s been saving up. Thanks you for all you do on RUclips. I can’t believe you are putting this out for free.

New to you as a RUclipsr. Enjoying the content. Keep it up
Very impressive!
Very well explained Sasha, could you recommend some books to know more about these concepts?

Hey Sasha it's been awhile I am glad you're back.
Not been all that long! Just too a bit longer to make this one!
What you made is heroic, sacrifice, you're great person, keep up the good work bro.
Sasha I know you're not financial advisor, I have quick question, I am in growth stocks, one of them is TDOC what is your opinion about it? thanks in advance.
I don’t hold a position… And I have looked at it because it’s popular - I personally don’t see it but maybe I just don’t understand it.
Thanks Sasha for including the timestamps in-between! Detailed and thorough work but I can skip to the chapters I want!
Would be a bit harsh to not have them in a video that goes on for well over an hour! 😄
You touched on cash management when you mentioned dollar cost averaging as a good way to buy into a market or stock, and presumably the same is true when you are selling out of a stock.
However a big factor that my own cash management strategies have overlooked is volatility from market cycles. I recently came across a description of Tom Engles' cash management strategy that relies on assessing the "protected value" of your portfolio periodically, and as the market value exceeds this, gradually converting a portion of your portfolio ( you to 12% say) to cash, then add cycle drops your portfolio value below the protected value, gradually buying back in. Even though these cycles can be years in the making, they can multiply returns.
I don’t manage a cash position ever - it is mathematically a losing strategy so I don’t do it. The DCA reference was more for continually investing in the stock market on an ongoing basis as and when you earn money and have spare income. 👍
Great video mate. Definitely useful for newbies and something people should be watching and learning from, especially with social media packed with financial influencers who give BS advice and pump n dumps
Thank you!
An mba in investment in a nutshell. Thanks for the insight. Amazing contents.
Not quite but thank you!
Kudos 👊 - haven't watched the whole video yet but just going through the chapter titles I can tell it's packed with info. Amazing you do this for free. Out of interest which firm were you a trader at?
Thank you! Appreciate it! It wasn’t the most exciting thing - trading commodities and energy (but as I said - was only a short stint and even that was too long 😆)
Hi Sasha. I don't usually leave comments but in this case I feel compelled to, in order to compliment on the outstanding work you've done on this item and a general thank you for all the information you've provided so far which helped me with my baby steps in the world of investing. Keep up the good work my friend! Bless
Thank you so much Sergiu!

Start a new chapter with good quality video...Hopefully your channels will grow & success.... 👍😀

Grab a drink! 😄
Hey Sasha, I never normally write any comments , however yours is such a great channel and this video is probably your best one to date so I felt compelled to do so today ! - keep up the great work !!!. I already hold a couple of smaller positions similar to you in TSLA+PLTR as long term holds and I plan to DCA a few more as the market continues to dip futher, I am in my early fifties and so would ideally like to semi- retire around 55+,so I wondered what your view was to convert the majority of my cash in to physical precious metals as an inflation hedge instead of the normal bonds method given real inflation is most likely double the stated UK CPI/RPI figures now approaching 20%,this way I could borrow against these precious metals in fiat currency around with only 3-5% interest if I wanted to live off the cash, and also use this low interest rate cash (almost free) if and when there are further bigger buying opportunities if prices dip closer to the March 2020 big sell offs to hold until I am age 65+ when my UK state pension kicks in ?
I don’t know about precious metals but if your outlook is 1-4 years, and you plan on itilising the cash for retirement through some kind of drawdown/annuity setup, keeping all/large portion in highly volatile assets (stock market) would generally not be recommended in most cases. Of course I don’t know you or your situation but I’d suggest having a long hard think on that front!
@@SashaYanshin -Sage advice - confirmed my thoughts - many thanks for taking time out to reply - much appreciated 👍
Thanks Sasha for a very put together course for beginners. The course contents are very informative & educational especially in this current bearish stock market. Please keep up the good work my friend 👍🏾 💯 🙏🏾
Thank you so much!
I have watch the video twice so far 👍🏾
Wow, this is like a whole course for free. Great information and clarity Sasha.
👍
Thank you so much for this; wish i listened to this a year ago when i started investigating and would of saved some money. On your Patron site do you review stocks and show your portfolio?
Appreciate all the time you put into this video and having this for free is not only great but it gives knowledge to someone like me looking for experienced investors. THANK YOU SO MUCH IT MEANS ALOT!! I AM BASED IN THE UK; if you ever have a face to face sessions I would like to meet you and thank you.
This is outstanding content for newbies.
As a bit of extension, How much would these principles apply to commodities market? If not much, there's an idea for another guide!
Also from your experience what is/are the best platform(s) to invest/trade commodities for UK citizens?
Not much because commodities are not investments - sure you can trade them but it’s an entirely different beast.
Sasha, I found this channel about a month ago after finally beginning to learn more and get my house in order. Monday is payday and will be the day that I start. Thank you for this video and the timestamps. It’s really appreciated
Hope you find it useful!!!
Great video Sasha.
I'm just starting to invest something, it's very helpful.
It make me feel excited but also need to keep this under control because of the hype💪🏿
Thanks Dawid! Glad you found it useful - too me long enough to make 🤣🤣🤣
A great video perfectly explained and simple to understand in case English is not your native language!
Well done and thanks for the valuable information!
In case someone invests in an index fund like s&p500 that the average long term return is annually 9-10% and the rate of inflation is 6-8% plus the broker fees and the taxes for selling and taking these money what is actually the final return of this investment ?
And how can we predict if an investment and in which time period is profitable or not?
Great video Sasha, thans for taking the time to make it. Could you make s similar one on crypto next please
What about crypto? Have you seen any of my crypto videos?
Excellent information, presented in a very organized fashion. Thank you for preparing this and sharing it free of charge!
Glad it’s useful! 👍
Excellent primer. Thanks, however i was looking for your $999.97 course on selling courses.
👍😂
I wanted to be clear: the costs of cap ex is not reflected at all in the balance sheet?
Not directly. Indirectly cash will drop when Capex is spent and will convert into some sort of a long-term asset.
Don’t forget the MSCI World Index, this is also one of the most popular world wide
I did talk about the Total world index a few times 👍
You rock man. Great on you to give away so much value to the community for free!
Thanks buddy!
I am a total beginner so thank you so much for this video. I'm hoping to use the same platform as yourself IBKR
Thank you so much and also thank you if you choose to use my link. By the way - just so you know - IBKR is a bit more old school and clunky than the “new” broker apps. So not quite as simple but the features are awesome. Check the video I have on Interactive Brokers - I explain quite a bit!
@@SashaYanshin I did and I've watched your video. Another brilliant and helpful video. Looking forward to getting started
Hi Sasha, thank you so much for this video. Really appreciate it 😀. I have a question. Let's say if I do have an interactive broker account set up in one country (outside my native country) and I need to move to another country(also not my native country). Would I be able to transfer my account to another country or would I need to liquidate all my shares? I am a student right now studying outside my native country but I plan to move to another country after completing my studies
I have no idea - I suggest you speak to their customer service. They have been pretty good when I spoke to them.
Great ‘pro bono’ contribution to the ‘people’s financial education’, well done Sasha and thank you
I mean I do get ad revenue and some people will click the affiliate links so I’m no saint, but it’s still a useful free introduction on RUclips!
That is great! unfortunately, a lot of ppl just want a shortcut or oversimplified way to invest
Thanks and yeah - This probably isn’t as exciting as all the get rich quick stuff!
@@SashaYanshin A lot of RUclipsrs used to have this “time in the market is better than timing the market” notion has jumped ship due to the current market condition, that’s very confusing.
You forgot to mention the biggest mistake "PANIC SELLING" Great video....
Yeah! Can’t cover everything. Probably should have talked more about holding!
Hi Sasha, thanks for this. How can one make sure a broker is or isn't a real "investing" platform? It is not an obvious thing always.
Make sure you check they are fully licenced and authorised for all broking permissions in the country in which you are based - usually can check this on the regulator's website. Check their licences (sometimes in the description) + make sure you will be able to buy the actual underlying assets when you use the platform, NOT some kind of an instrument, CFD or whatnot. 👍
@@SashaYanshin Thanks for your reply. I am in the UK and only use companies that are FCA approved. But it is still not clear cut when it come to the very issue of whether or not I am buying the actual assets or some kind of license or instrument. For instance I know that with eToro one doesn't buy the asset but some kind of certificate. But I can't figure it with e.g. Freetrade or Lightyear what am I am buying exactly (despite having received "answers" to my email from the latter). They have a convoluted language that make it rather evasive. I do appreciate your subtle hint in the brackets regarding Interactive Brokers :-)
@@SashaYanshin On another note: there is a spam email coming through, am imposter pretending to be you. It doesn't show up here, but I receive that email when I leave comments on your posts. I had sent you a screen shop on Instagram; not sure you got it. Thought you might wanna know.
Thank you Sasha!
👍
Awesome Sasha 👍 will watch in one go 😁 Already got tea ready

Thank you for this. I have been poor for most of my life barely scraping by with a learning disability that was never recognized. You are clear and concise and I can re-play your videos. I wonder how many lives you have changed. Please keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you Brad! I love reading comments like this - really glad you’re finding the information useful! 👍
How is it that you can do an 80 minute video without needing to edit once, where as I can just about manage 14 seconds 🤣. Fantsatic video, lots of value for anyone looking to learn more and great idea to have a guide too
Great Video. Just one thing i would like to know also. It is about the fact that Us as UK retail investors cannot invest in USA based ETFs. I've heard many reasons why this is the case and how you can or maybe can invest in them if your're a professional investor or have over £500, 000 pounds in your investment portfolio but have to apply for some type of international special license for this. Could you please help by clarifying or just debunking anything i may have raised or brought up? Thank you in advance.
Yeah - UK and Europe have rules on disclosure, etc that US ETFs do not satisfy. That is why you often see UCITS compliant ETFs in Europe instead.
Many of the big ETFs do have direct equivalents - eg VUSA for VOO or sometimes there are very close alternatives. 👍
Yes, Sasha you are awesome for the following. You went for Chicken, made a rebuttal and moved on focusing on your path/business again. In contrast to the attacked who still is sour. Thank you.
I just said what I felt had to be said. Not here to have a drama channel 👍
Wow this is amazing. Thanks Sasha!!
Thank YOU Mark!
As a retail investor in Europe I cannot buy US ETFs from Interactive Brokers. Is there a way to overcome this ? Thanks
There are UK equivalents/alternatives for most - eg VUSA for VOO 👍
Thanks!
👍
It’s great that you took the time to make this. Wish there was something like this when I started my investment journey. Keep up the good work Sasha! 👍
Thank you - hope some new investors find it useful!
Amazing video for someone who's young and wants to seriously get into investing like myself!
It's great that we get access to free videos like this on RUclips, but does anyone know the best sources to continue learning all about investing? For example how/where does someone like Sasha accumulate all this knowledge? Is there any good reading recommendations?
Thank you! I will keep making more of this sort of useful content in the future - hopefully it'll be helpful. :))
This type of content is unreal Sasha, well done - newcomers don't know they're born with these prices and help 👌😄

Thanks Billy! Hope it’s useful! I’ll keep at it with providing as much value as I can 👍
good video but it doesn't tell us any formula for picking stocks or when to buy or sell a stock....
I do talk about when to buy and sell and cover many factors to consider when deciding which stocks to buy. Unfortunately I don’t offer a secret method for getting rich quick or a specific strategy that makes guaranteed returns but that’s how real investing works. 👍
@@SashaYanshin i mean formulas like what ben graham used or discounted cash flow formula etc, or technical analysis formula for example
@@valuabletips560 I talk about it a fair bit on the channel - can’t really squeeze a whole valuation course into one video - just covered as many core basics as I could. 👍
@@SashaYanshin thanks but i looked through your channel, doesn't seem like there is any video on valuation other than stock analysis?

Hi Sasha, been investing stocks USA with IB (for almost 1 year) … Keep getting stuck with PDT … trading with around 15k $ … really like IB, but looking for a second broker with good rate, so I could split my cash account between (I’m UK based) … any you would recommend?, want to keep my cash as US$ after trades (as with IB) … thanks in advance
No broker should let you do trades on US stocks if you are day trading - that’s the rules. Any respectable broker will have the same rules unfortunately and I’d say for larger amounts for investing, IBKR is way ahead in the UK. As for trading… I am not up to speed with what the beat retail trading apps out there are.
@@SashaYanshin but I have through IB!!! With the allowance of 3 trades per week, all my other trades are swing trades … I’ve had a cash account for roughly a year, and just switched it to margin … but still unlabelled to day trade until I get $25k in the account… have they missed something or have I??? … again many thanks
