Has the best balance of fat tones, versatility and user friendliness. There are slightly better sounding synths that are less versatile. There are more versatile synths that are much less easy to use. If I had to recommend a free synth to someone who just wanted one synth that sounded great and did everything they wanted this would be it.
Depends in the keyboard I am using a korg usb keyboard that needs drivers some are plug and play. I am using this through cubase but there is a standalone version you can run at least on windows, just need to find your keyboard under midi in, though you'd probably need an audio interface for decent latency.
@@JimijaymesProductionsThanks man, I found the input settings for my Steinberg ur22 ASIO which my Yamaha keyboard plugs into via standard 1/4 jack. I really hope it works when I get around to plugging it in.
@@JimijaymesProductions I see, here's the part where I'm going to scream and sob.... 😪👿😪😥 WAIT! It Actually does have a Midi output!!!!! YEEEEE!!!!😎🤣😂🤣🤠 Is it okay to just use one midi cable going out of the keyboard and into the Steinberg? Sweet Earth, all I want to do is connect my keyboard to my Steinberg audio device to use with the OB-xd and Adobe Audition.
One of the "issues" I had with the OB-XD was that there *seemed* to be no keystroke to change the preset until I discovered that the + and - keys on the number pad perform this function. The - key near backspace does as well but apparently not the += key? GREAT synth for free! Especially when you throw on a reverb plugin unit.
Are you manually updating an older version? I found the easiest to uninstall the older version and just use the setup exe and install the newest version. Thats on windows though.
I don't think this vst is free anymore. Right now it's on sale for $24.50, normally $49. I have the old version which you can still find for free if you look around.
The new version sounds really good, but without a menu or keys to navigate easily through the presets it is a pain in the ass... This addition should be highest level priority because usability is making the success (or not) of a product. Spending hours clicking the menu button to discover sounds is not exciting so you stop after a few sounds and certainly miss some gems.
Good news! The + and - keys on the number pad perform this function. The - key near backspace does as well but apparently not the += key? What a relief to discover this!.
The only way I am aware is using your DAWs preset system, though considering the patches that have been made maybe there is another way in the backend but froma front end user its just using the DAW, stand alone wise there is an ios app but that's different and definitely cost money, the newest version at least on windows does come with standalone for windows but no way I can tell to save presets if thats what you are asking.
Man! This first melody is awesome!
What is the name of first preset? Is it deafult ?
Hello, allows to adjust the frequency in Hertz of each note ???
This beast sounds awesome.
it is my favourite free synth for classic sounds.
Really cool sounds! Heard some 70s prog style presets in there! 🎸
Thanks for watching! It is definitely a great synth for prog!
I remember when there weren't that many free vsts just a few years ago. As of today, you can totally do without the paid ones.
So what are your favorite free VSTs?

Arakkisssss.... Duuuune... Desert Planet......
Yeah, Um, how do you connect a keyboard and make the fun sounds come out? Thank you!

@@MattieCooper10000 yeah you should just go midi out to midi in on your interface.
What about the Ob -xa V?

Im having problems installing it on my computer with the png and pdf files.

Last time I checked you can still download it but it's on the store as well whereas all their other plugins are paid
@@JimijaymesProductions Gotcha. I see it's states on their website you can buy to "support future development". Thanks
@@user-uf5jj7yl7j Sorry but it seems they've updated the site now.

Know how to "key" scroll through presets? Clicking on MENU each time is horribly slow.

You can now press Menu -> View -> Preset Bar, and a preset bar will appear underneath the synth. :)
