Gday Howard, I messaged you about 3-4 weeks ago about getting my VB sedan painted to stop the rust with spraying it with rustoleum. I’ve done some minor ding work and had to paint strip a couple of areas that had blistering surface rust. My question is.. I’m priming the entire car in rustoleum primer but do I etch prime the bare metal sections first, or is it an unnecessary step? Thanks heaps.. love your trophy series too 👍
Not sure what my reply was now, But I thought the intention was to cover up the bare areas until you stripped the whole lot to bare metal. If you intend on using it as your base then I would recommend reading there directions or data sheet before progressing. My recommendation once the panel is ready, is to use a quality Epoxy urethane primer before any filler work then apply your primers. Cheers H
@@AstillDesign it’s hard to be exact because I can’t send pictures. My intent was knock down rust blisters and flakey paint and seal it for at least a year. I liked your idea of the rustoleum because it’s a cheaper option atm. But being a jeweller for 17 years before becoming an electrician I can’t look past imperfections.. haha.. Epoxy is the go to as I’ve seen. But I have the rustoleum primer already, the data sheet says use etch on aluminium and stainless not bare metal so I’ll skip it for now. Thanks.. Its a red neck respray in my yard for this old girl and it’s a pearler in South Aus this weekend so wish me luck. Cheers
Thanks again Howard.
Our pleasure
