Hybrid Striped Bass Fishing with Live Bait on Lake Norman

- Picked up some live bait at Denver Bait and Tackle. They had some good sized minnows to choose from. This was my first time using live bait on Lake Norman. So I tried one of my typical trolling hot spots and anchored up. Two lines with fish finder rigs. 1 ounce weight and 1/4 ounce weight. I used 10lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon with 1/0 Mustad circle hooks. One line was flat lined out back.
A Hybrid ended up wacking the 1/4 ounce rig. At first I thought it was a big cat cause of the weight but man it ran some line.

Hey man...Thanks for this vid (great instructions). I took one of your last vids that you did on Norman and duplicated it on Sunday (3/8) went trolling with a couple 6XDs and caught two really nice Spots (both fish combined weighed 5 lbs). I appreciate your work. Keep it up!

Hey man good hybrid where do you usually put in on Norman. I live up 73 and fish norman and wylie. We need to go fish 1 day. A jumbo "what" catfish. I have a small channel but can't get the content on it lol

So are you rigged with a 2 foot leader attached to a swivel. Above the swivel do you have a bead and then the weight? Where on Norman are you fishing? Are you fishing down in a single spot? trolling?
Tom Parnelle Hey Tom, I used 10lb flouro 2-4ft a swivel with a 1/4 ounce weight. I also had a line with just a hook and one with a 1/2 ounce weight. I fish in various spots in the mid to southern part of the lake. The fish are very migratory chasing bait schools. So there isn’t necessarily spots but areas that sometimes hold bait. I was anchored.
Do you offer Guided fishing on Lake Norman? I live here on the lake...and apparently have a lot to learn. Lemme know! I'll gladly pay for a day/half day on the lake. Thanks!
