After watching a lot of Cdrama, I summarized that China, like the United States, does not have the concept of shopping malls for rich, it’s just the geographical location of shopping malls is different. There are more office workers and tourists in urban shopping malls. Each residential area has a large commercial center, which is almost the same as the urban area.
in the big city, their shopping malls have divisions, like high tier, middle and low, I dont know shanghai very well, but my city is next to Nanjing (10m population city), when we shopping, we kinda avoid the high tier one (I remmeber its call Deji), cos even the food they do is over priced and long queue... I dunno america, but when i visit oregon, i found there is no high end shoppping mall, porbably cos the population is too little. I guess LA and NY may have big high end mall for the rich
