Nintendo developers have a lot of personality. It's really hard not to love them. Playstation fans have been trying to make Kaz Hirai popular but he doesn't have the same level of quirkiness that Miyamoto or Sakurai would have.

I love how emotional people get about Sakurai's games, and his response to them. He always looks so humbled. Its awesome.
I really like how Nintendo is trying to balance their games to appeal to both casual and core gamers ^_^. This is probably going to be the best entry in the Smash series yet. Especially with the killer character roster they have now =D.

Competitive players complaining that this game is not exactly like Melee gives competitive players a bad name. If you want Melee that badly then just play Melee. I liked Melee more than Brawl but I'm looking forward to this game.

I did. I ended up watching it live with three of my friends. Boy, we were so loud. I'm surprised my neighbors didn't come knocking.
I was looking forward to Sakurai asking that one guy "have you ever made a game?"
Sakurai is such a nice, creative and humorous man, its no wonder that he inspired this guy to design games! And also his reaction was just priceless.
I never heard much of Sakurai until the Smash Direct in April, but since then he became one of my most favourite game developers of all time, this video here just confirms my impression even more, Awesome!

I feel like you should always give people more of a reason to attend an actual event. If we were able to see everything from our computers, then in my opinion, it would be absolutely pointless to attend the event in person. But that's just my two cents.

Kinda disappointed they didn't show it last night, but the hype probably would've been catastrophic.
Really cool of Nintendo to release some highlights of the round table. It would be even cooler for them to release the whole thing. You can never hear enough of Sakurai... or in this case, his translator.
Shame they didn't show that guy getting burned by Sakurai.

Let me get this crap straight. They had a livestreamed conference that generated hype... showed this trailer to a closed audience...then released the trailer online...THEN released the closed screening online via this video. Ninty... why not just show damn pacman trailer during the livestreamed conference?! What was the point of even having this meeting behind closed doors?
That aside, I'm excited for this.

Sakurai's reaction to the guy who wants to be a game designer was priceless. The translator left it out, but you could clearly hear he was like "oooooooh..." before he said good luck.
Im kind of curious (bear in mind I've never really done competitive smash but I've done tourneys for quite a few other games, notable SF and Tekken), WHY exactly do people think this game won't be competitive? Its got a faster pace than brawl (albeit slower than melee) It certainly seems to be better balanced than Brawl to be sure, and also takes away most (if not all) of the random factors that would've affected brawl's matches.
I'd think its a little soon to be making judgements on the game, just my two cents anyway.
I like the competitive side of Mele... Smash, and yeah, I agree with you, this game seems SUPER better than Brawl, faster and with some good combos, by now it doesn't seem like you can go deep in the game but melee didn't during the trailers, god, they even changed everything last second (if you watch the gameplay in the beta when they announced it, the game looked more like 64, not melee) I hate people whining, that gives a bad representation to the competitive scene, now all casuals (not a rude/mean term, if you're a casual that's ok, but you're still one, it's like the opposite side) think that the "tourneyfags" (that IS a mean term) are all like that. Just play the game and deal with it LOL (sorry if my redaction wasn't on point here)

I watched ProJared's Play with him and he stated that they tweaked Link's strong attacks, so they can actually launch players off the screen much easier than before. So I don't Think so :D

Where is this "it's just Brawl 2.0" crap coming from? Brawl is practically Melee 2.0 for argument sake. As for the tournament, The scarf kid had a good strategy to win. He was at too high of a percentage to get close and with purple shirt constantly spamming kirbys grab dive bomb (Dont you dare say otherwise, it was the only way he made a decent amount of damage in the first place) he would have been sent out, so why not play on even grounds? Everyone has a different play style. just because it's not the same as yours doesn't mean the GAME is bad! Honestly I think this game is already better than Brawl because tripping is removed...
The guy in the purple shirt is hungrybox he is a veteran melee player and is well known for using jigglypuff actually and zero is also a pro player as well and is famous for well you saw it so that goes unsaid. Anyway hungry box mostly plays mostly float character and tries to do the wall of pain strategy mostly except it doesn work well with kirby and even in brawl kirby has a hard time dealing with zero suit mid range game mainly caus his own limited range and even when you do get close to her final she so much fast than you she can just hit and run kirby all day til death
This game seems more competetive now that they removed alot of random elements, like olimars pikmin, tripping, pokeballs, etc.

This game is brawl 2.0 with a larger cast. I'm not mad about that or anything, but they are dumping all over the competitive players which is a shame.
Huge shame because I thought they were trying to appeal to us with this version. Truth is they really aren't.
Oh no...not you Melee idiots. I like it as much as the next guy, but its *SERIOUSLY* getting ridiculous...
...oh boy, you guys do know that each early build of the game used the last games engine, but tweaked.
Go back and look at early Melee footage and it plays like 64. Early Brawl played like Melee, this one will play similar to Brawl until it is released.
This is why I'm a huge biggest fan of Nintendo. I have to admit that Nintendo is my #1 favorite games design's. Mostly with Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U ☺
Most of the people who call themselves competitive players are wannabes! One of the most important aspects of this series is adaptability and most "competitive" players have such poor adaptability that they can't handle that broken mechanics from Melee were removed. I like each new iteration because I can adapt and own, in all of them. Not to rag on others but you have to remember that hit lag was put into the game to balance out characters moves more. Also he removed L cancelling because it threw the games balance off, same thing for wavedashing. Lastly if the game is floatier then step up your air-game don't complain about it. these things are so minor that its laughable that anyone that calls themselves a competitive player or an experienced player would denounce this game or brawl as if its the game thats flawed as apposed to their ability to adapt to new mechanics and restrictions.
Melee isn't much balanced either because it had a 13 month dev time
Smash 64 is probably the closest game to have an actual balance due to how tiny the roster is.
I love how Sakurai's answer to the question from the game developer was "Uhhh, good luck!" with a smile on his face and then his facial expression immediately changed serious again XD
