Since I was on the brink of encumberment, I wasn’t picking up stuff I didn’t think I needed. My supplies dwindled over time and I was stuck right after the shar temple with nothing. I went into the boss fight in the top of Moonrise towers with half health
FYI for those that don’t know (and who romance Astarion) you can get the “Silvanus” necklace from at the grove, it’s down by the bear at the beach, you just have to move the big rock and it’s underneath it (the bear doesn’t get angry or anything). It allows you to cast that level 2 heal that removes the bloodless stat, so you can let Astarion go nomnom every night to get his +1 happy buff, plus you aren’t bloodless (so not getting -1 on rolls)
@@TheLalacream yeah the necklace just means you don’t have to use a spell slot on it, and it’s able to be gotten potentially before Astarion ever bites you, so you can use it after the first time. I’ve never gotten the bloodless debuff because I always use the necklace (it doesn’t really have another purpose, though it can be used on Pandirna or whatever that Tieflings name is in the Grove storehouse to get rid of her paralysis)
I either played as a cleric or just had shadowheart use it and swap her out for one of the other companions she almost never gets hits on enemies when I have her around so I don't use her beyond removing the bloodless debuff
I was excited when I realised that Durge can in fact eat the Dwarf meat cooking by the fire 😂 (it gives 4d4 healing to Durge only) My teams camp dinners is always just some combo meat, cheese, and booze (and I sell all the fruits, vegetables, etc). It’s the Faerun version of a keto diet haha
Great video! I laughed so hard. Personally I only rest when we're out of spells, loot every possible supply and whenever a companion wants to rest I tell them "You're fine. Now shut up and quit complaining". Now in act 3 I have 6k camp supplies and wonder why my fellow Baldurians think the refugees will complicate things. I could feed them all by myself.

We can rest when we are on the brink of death and everyone is out of all their spell slots and our enemies' bodies litter the path we've just gone down and no sooner.
I wish they had included some cooking activities in the camp for when you want to cook with things you find around. It would be funny to see what happens if you cook poorly or if you cook well, etc.

Yeah her being a cleric doesnt help her at all regarding her high elf cantrips which all scale with INT. Was kinda bummed coz firebolt is a great early game cantrip when spellslots are so limited. (Sacred flame always being saved doesnt help either)

Lol doing a durge honor run esp at act 1, I until now have NEVER long rested yet have done SO MUCH OF THE AREA…I just exploited the hell out of respecs and hirelings. I just do not wanna end up killing alfira yet. A tip: respeccing someone into a level 2 bard even hirelings will give you a free short rest called somg of rest hahaha. Also, I just have 2 hirelings on standby: one halfling thief for pickpockets and another one as a bard to give me bardic inspiration for those annoying checks. And to delay the alfira scene, it is good to know that if you recruit wyll first then recruit karlach without wyll in the party, their long rest event has higher priority than the durge alfira scene. Also, a team of 4 rogues just melts through most early game encounters and even some honor mode bosses.
I've seen so many shorts but I don't think I've ever heard her talking before. Good video. Although, 5:20 is pure blasphemy. Past the early game, maybe 15-20h into the game max you should have enough spell slots already to easily sacrifice a lvl 2 spell slot for an unique buff giving +1 to any attack roll or ability check. Sure the 5% doesn't come up that often but especially with attack rolls through the course of the game it's a meaningful increase to the character's performance. If you have some easy combat planned at the start of your adventuring day sure you can just get the effect from there but if you don't just using a lvl 2 spell slot to get it instantly is a solid decision in most cases especially in act 2 where a lot of the fights only have undead.

I once had my Backpack so full with food, it was half of my carrying capacity... The other half was every Potion you can get.. I never use those tho lmao.
I always collect camp supplies and never buy, if a spellcaster needs to rest for regenerate the majority of their spells slots, always make a long rest. Im allways stole Laezels initial equipament and left she captived in the cage (im supose i have too much libra energy to want Laezel in the team) And im a pick me boy attitude with Astarion.
On tactician I only rested if I was able to come up with 3x the min camp supply needed for a long rest until beating the paladins or finding the Zhent hideout That always set me up with 1000+ camp supplies afterward and I’d be safe to rest after running out of spells slots for the rest of the game without needing to check camp supply numbers
the type of camp player I am is someone who got rapture in act 3 and havent long rested in the last 30 hours of gameplay. all my characters are out of spell slots, karlach has 0 rages left and my cleric is depending on the "throw potion" strategy
the one guy running around with auto loot mod, who has over 10k camp supplies when he gets to Lower City, still refuses to rest because hes too lazy to redo campbuffs...KEKW
I rest if I’m out of spell slots but after that one long rest I do multiple partial rests in a row so I can trigger all the important cutscenes I don’t want to miss
It'll probably be different once I give Tactician/Honor Mode a try (I'm currently still on my 1st Balanced playthrough), but for the moment I'm kind of letting the companions drive my resting. I'll Short Rest after a fight if at least half the party has less than 50% HP, or if they start complaining about being tired. I otherwise only Long Rest if, like you, all my spell slots are exhausted, or if companions are complaining again after all Short Rests have been expended. I also Long Rest after major events or after clearing "zones" (like the Goblin Camp) when it would make thematic sense for a rest.
I loot camp supplies from the enemies and buy from the merchants bc I'm extra like that lol I do long rests after all the short rests r gone and we r in the yellow or red health count so I don't use potions😅
Haha IKR, I end up having about 2000 spare camp supplies by end of act 3, and that’s with only serving “the best items” (but Shadowheart still complains in the epilogue about eating crappy food 🙄🤷♀️)
@@elenalizabeth Even better is if you romance her and during the first date she's like "We should have wine more often!" Girl... We drink like FIVE BUCKETS OF BOOZE every single night because for some reason the game throws WAAAAY more alcohol than food items at you. XD
@@Zaxares does Faerun have AA? I’m thinking not, because it seems alcohol passes as food 😂 though now you get the hungover debuff if you use only booze to long rest. But yeah I have noticed that every other barrel seems to have booze in it, or rotten food. Though I guess that’s why - because unlike food booze doesn’t really rot.
I feel called out for both the "ignores companions even if they want to talk" (I'm always ignoring Gale and Astarion, ESPECIALLY Astarion) and the "is a 1 companion kind of guy/gal" IN MY DEFENSE, this game is buggy enough as it is without romancing multiple "incompatible" companions (example: if you try to romance Shadowheart and Karlach, it is somewhat compatible. You'll eventually get a scene in which you have to choose one, instead of just breaking both of them and turning dialogue into a mess). Also, I'm sorry if I'm trying to look for something meaningful. I might turn into a mindflayer at any moment, so if this will be the last "colorful friendship"/deeper relationship of my life as *me* I want it to mean something.

You can always respec at Withers and level a character by one level to get merchants their stock and money back.

I just use a pocket cleric (have a companion be a cleric at camp that I don’t use on the field and have them cast buff spells on my active team)

You can get an achievement for long resting with only alcohol
In act 2 you get alcohol rather than food so when you go for automatic just selects alcohol full of alcohol and you get hangover

I greatly overestimated how much food I would need troughout the game. I think the least camp supplies I have had since act 1 is over a thousand.
