- We have mentioned the wonders of gua sha so many times but, did you know it helps to nourish the skin by increasing microcirculation up to 400%, leaving you a with healthier and glowing complexion?
It also stimulates the #acupressurepoints on the face, which is a simple way to support your organs internally. #Chinesemedicine recognises that facial beauty is linked to the organs in this way - the state of your health is literally reflected in your face.
Watch Chinese medicine practitioner, Katie Brindle, as she shows how to perform a gua sha ritual using the Hayo'u oil, the Jade and Clear Beauty Restorers and the Jade Precision Tool.

I saw several videos that state to hold the jade stone flat on your skin as you move it upward and not use the edge to scrape against the skin on your face. They said to do it slowly and mindfully and not tug. She’s doing the exact opposite and she is rushing through it so quickly. When I do it I like to take it slowly and really enjoy the process since life itself seems to rush by. It’s like a spa experience for me. I put on soft background music and drag the tool slowly over each area of my face and it really feels like I’m pampering myself. I’ve also heard some people say to move the jade down your neck versus upward since you are helping drain the fluids that accumulate during the day. I suppose it’s best to do a little research before you begin. Also, be very gentle around the eyes. That skin underneath is so thin and delicate.
Yeah she definitely had her own method. I also like using it as flat as possible and going slower with a good oil, though sometimes I don't have that kind of time lol. But it doesn't feel like it works well going fast, and since it's really meant for lymphatic drainage, I don't know how fast you can force those fluids out of you lol
Agreed and also use one hand to hold the skin tight, so it's a 2 hand treatment.
I ordered a cheap one from Amazon, it wasn’t real Jade but I couldn’t believe the difference in the side I done it was like magic and only cost £6 it’s amazing
I’ve been using a rose quartz one because Jade tends to hold onto bacteria. Works the same.
Oh I’m going to have some serious fun with these - I cannot wait ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Wow! Intuitively, this feels right for me! Deep lines are developing near my chin. Have felt hopeless about it, but not now! Thank you♡
Oh wow, thankyou so much for the tutorial, I bought one last week and I'm loving it. X
Great video thank you. Really informative and well rounded.
It really works been using it for 3 weeks my skin is glowing and lifted and tone.
But it doesn't last.
That was extremely well demonstrated, and yet so do able! U my dear get an A+!👧🦋
Wow, what amazes me is how much it lifted the entire side you did. So cool! Thanks for doing that!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing. SUBCRIBED!
She is holding the tool at a wrong angle, watch videos of Chinese acupressurists using gua sha tool to get the technique right
Thank you. I enjoyed that.
Interesting technique to put tool inside mouth for the folds around nose and mouth. Will definitely have to try as that is a real trouble spot for me.
Thank you!!
Thank you!
Wow. I wish someone else would do this on my face lol!!! I can't believe the difference!
Your thoughts on rose quartz gua sha tools? I especially like rose 🌹 quartz. Thanks for sharing this.
Honestly, the only difference I can see is that the right side of your face looks more hydrated because of the oil application. Maybe it's just not translating well on screen. In any event, I cannot use any oil on my face, so what can I use instead? Moisturizer for sensitive skin?
Lovely❤ I love gua sha!!! It really is therapeutic and makes the face vibrant and lifted!
What a beautiful talker, puts me in mind of Nigella Lawson.
I sent an email to the Hayo'u team asking about the correct way to hold the quartz restorer and was told that you can hold it at the 45 degree angle or you can use it the way Katie is using it.
The only thing I would point out is to do upward motion on the neck. From your shoulders up to your chin.
Yes and no. Upward strokes for "lifting" but downward strokes for draining lymphatic fluid from the glands: you always want to flush in the direction towards the heart.
Oh my goodness I see such a LIFT 🎉. Amazing
Hi Katie, I forgot to ask you, is the regular restorer and the “lite” (only sold on QVC ) the same size ? I know that the lite version is thinner but is it the same size? Also would the lite be better for anti aging? I’m 49… thank you
Ps; you look double of carmen Electra, she used to be on baywatch back in the day with Pamela Anderson…. Carmen Electra looks so much like you, she is also very beautiful like you…. I know very irrelevant to the topic but just thought I’d let you know LOL.
What I noticed, initially, is that the side of the face worked on (right side) already had a lifted look, compared to the other (left) side.
The video would have been more impactfull if the left side of the face were gua sha'ed, rather than the right side because the right side already had a more lifted look.
I think it's possible that the right side may have possibly looked more lifted than it did before working on it, but nearly impossible to tell if this was my imagination because, as mentioned, the right side appeared, to me, to look more lifted than the left side at the beginning of the video.
Part way through the video, I had the same reaction. I went back to the beginning and yes, the right side already looks more "lifted" than the left. So my initial excitement waned when I discovered this. Shame, I was very hopeful for this method/product. Regardless, this woman is very lovely and I certainly hope I mature as gracefully as she has.
The side is more lifted (you definitely see it in the brow) but if you look at the overall plumpness of her face, that side looks way more youthful. It for sure smoother and plumped the lines around her mouth. The side she didn’t do, the skin itself looks dull.
Yes you are correct. My face is like this - I am a side sleeper so one side is less plump and one eye a bit more lidded. Very annoying but she should have used other side as this was already different
I totally agree but kept watching. Then when she said the top of the forehead is related to the kidneys I turned it off! Top of the forehead is gall bladder and heart/small intestines. Hmmm .. disappointing overall.
Where can I buy the thinner jade tool? I have never seen that shape before. Tjanks
Can you tell where I can purchase your products. I can see clearly the superior quality. Thank you
As soon as you facial expressions kick in
Been doing the Gua Sha routine since I discovered your video three days ago. Wow the results have been stunning. That was only with the Jade. Now have invested in the quartz crystal one, hoping to go one better. Any idea’s where I can purchase the precision tool? Your demonstration is wonderful and has certainly put the umph into the results. Thank you
Where did you buy the quartz crystal one? Thanks!
Katie I checked your store and the products are quite expensive.
Left hand side, jaw, found a spot , so enjoyable didn’t want to leave it, is there a maximum slides?
Where do you buy your gua shas & oil?
Where can I buy the Gua Sha tools
How much of botox have u had prior ?
She's not holding it flat against her face, which is what I have seen demonstrated in other videos.
And she is tugging and pulling her skin. It is incorrect.
This is completely different than the experts I've seen qua sha. You're supposed to hold your fingers a certain way as you are moving the gua sha on the flat surface against your skin. Never upright like this. You always start up from your neck going up to your jaw all the way around, not from the top down. Then once you get to the top of your forehead you slide it all the way down to the side of your face, down to your neck then it angle to your collarbone to drain the lymphatic system - at least to my understanding of watching/preforming this for many years is the way it's supposed to be. I mean maybe her way is working for her and she knows a different way but I don't know...🤷🏻♀️
Please tell me if you use the Gua Sha under your neck and chin. If you do, what direction do you go? I will really appreciate it. Dot
Always upwards motion
Hello Katie, is this the “lite” restorer ?
Hello Pelin, this is the regular Beauty Restorer. xx
I saw a video that said to be sure to keep the Gua sha flat against your face
Yes and to not pull. It is for lymphatic drainage and the pressure is supposed to be light with no tugging of the skin. I am confused by this video.
Hi. I loved this video. I have been doing gua sha on my neck & shoulders for years. Only recently started on my face. I'm having trouble finding the right facial oil. I have been using jojoba but removing the oil is a bit difficult as I would like to apply serums, etc afterwards. What do you suggest for an oil? I live in the US. Thank you
I’ve seen people doing there normal skincare routine and after moisturiser add a serum and keep a spray bottle of water, her skin is amazing the before and after
@@katebowes1 so, they use water spray to use as a lubricant?
how about 100% castor oil? 💕 works really well for me! 🍀
@@ninamelissa castor oil is extremely thick and heavy for the face. glad you like it though
I use coconut oil
I would worry about chipping a tooth with that stone in your mouth ! But you look wonderful.
I feel like the benefits dont last. The skin goes back to pre Qua Sha quickly.
In ancient china where this comes from, they use a typical Chinese spoon that they eat with
I dont understand the point. I still see wrinkles, before & after - just flushed skin afterwards. If this is a 2x daily routine for months years- wheres the payoff - pics depicting longterm differences?
I agree.
I was thinking the same.
Might be the lighting. Mine works wonders.
Seriously, she’s pulling the heck out of her face! She’s very pretty, but the wrinkles are there (so what) and pulling on her face isn’t going to make it better, but worse! Putting that stone in her mouth and stretching it out and then scraping on it. I don’t get this at all. To gently move it over your face to increase blood flow to feel good, maybe, but not all that pulling.
I agree that pulling might not be good...but look at how much more her face has been lifted!!! Check out the difference in her eyes/brows!!!
Should have watched this video before I bought a stainless steel one.
Traditionally even a ceramic spoon was used! I think the stones are more for aesthetic and psychological pleasure rather than any functional benefit. I have 3 - white and pink quartz and a jade one - but I LOVE polished stones (diamonds are my absolute favourite LOL). Seriously, I haven't found any difference - and I started doing this years ago with a PLASTIC tool I got from Daiso - all same same!
Have you had Botox?
😅It is pronounced “Gwa Saw”.
Beware, on the neck you should always go upward direction that’s the basic rule
Must you always follow rules? ;)
I didn’t see any improvement to her wrinkles on the side she rubbed her magic crystals on, you aren’t supposed to rub Gua Sha down your neck. The unworked Side of her face looks better, seems like she is pulling on her skin, which will just create saggy skin.
Ummm….arent you supposed to hold the stone at an angle of about 10-45 degrees? Why are you using it like a scraper knife?
Honestly, I just do it cause I like semiprecious rocks in my skin and it feels nice to massage my face with them. Yeah, my skin is flushed afterwards, but honestly, other than perhaps improving lymphatic drainage, this is just a sensory stim, and nothing more.
Also, I most definitely wouldn’t out the oily rock in my mouth.
i actually thought the other side of the face looked more uplifted than the one worked on. !
This video has way too much self-promotion. In just the first five minutes I already feel like I'm not listening to anything but an ad. Plenty of other gua sha videos out there where you don't have to slog through someone blatantly just trying to build their brand.
It just looks like you’re pulling on your skin. What’s the point of this? You still have wrinkles on your face. Nothing wrong with that. You’re very beautiful, obviously. Let’s all just accept aging and live life. If it’s just to feel good, great. But it’s not going to stop your skin from aging.
I just commented that. She is not doing the Gua Sha method at all.
You lost me with your magical power belief in stones. Gua Sha is a great massage though. Really, truth be told, mining the earth for stones we think have magical powers isn't great for the environment. Probably best to leave them in the earth so we can all benefit, if there is any actual benefit.
So much hype and so little practical information. I wish I had a nice exotic accent so that people would give my whimsical musings credence.
0:11 Let's talk about cultural appropiation 🤦♀️
“i’m quite famous” for bringing an ancient chinese practice to the beauty industry and taking credit for it when this is a known practice among asian cultures 🤦🏻♀️
