The repair work you do impresses me as the most difficult work you do. “Make it up as you go along” is an apt description. The customers probably have no clue how hard it is to do such a repair. I wonder how many people in London can do what you do? Frankly, I suspect you get paid a fraction of what the work is really worth.
Thanks. You did a great repair job under difficult conditions! I guess the shorter pieces are better than the cracked glass, but the original design of the window is somewhat changed. I realize the original choice of the glass was not yours, but why would someone use flashed glass in that window? The attributes of the flashed glass were not taken advantage of, so regular antique glass should have been fine. As an aside, I really liked that walkway design. I have not seen that in the US. Thanks again. Hopefully your HOT weather has lessened a little.
It was an original window which I resized for them...hence the flashed glass. Actually, repairs in old windows look much better than repairs in new windows. They just 'suit' better. The new lead in the window would have made a traditional repair difficult anyway. Yes- nice path. It's a very smart house! And thankfully a little cooler (30s) at the mo. We Brits aren't built for hot weather!!
hi sophie. i recently found your channel and am enjoying your videos! wondering if you could dedicate a video to installation of a leaded panel into a double hung window (or any window that will be moving). i would like to see what kind of nails you use, how/where to hammer them in, if you also use glazing points, and any other tips or suggestions. thank you!
@@acc5576 I never get commissioned to do that - but actually I did it in my own home. Same process for setting the panel into the frame. The only extra thing to do is weigh the window so the weights can be adjusted.

Ah well, yes, in-situ repairs are the biggest challenge of the things I do..and probably the least appreciated!
Patience and a light touch are assets here. Stay safe
Wise words!
Always great job. Love watching all your work
Thank you! Cheers!

I just wanted to check - by 'double hung' do you mean the type of window that hinges from the top?
@@SophiesStainedGlass the type where there are 2 sashes (upper and lower) that both slide up or down independently and are balanced by pulley weights

@@SophiesStainedGlass great! thanks
Thank you so much
Pleasure
Would deglazing the panel have been an option? It seemed a struggle to do 3 pieces like that in situ.
No...it was a struggle
not easy, but i should use a dremel to clean up the old lead, but great job
Yes, indeed.
