    If you have a misfire, you might as well change all plugs and coils if youre gonna crack it open for one plug, and a check engine light.....and the screws are called Torx head screws.

      I was told that the spark plugs go back and forth side to side so one on the right two on the left three on the right four on the left

    DON'T use an Allen/hex key on Torx screws, you will damage the screw heads.

    I found that the plug gap increases with use. Mercedes specs .031" and I measured twice that. Remove all the plugs, clean the threads and bend the ground electrode till you get .031". If you do this every 20000 miles or so, you will save the coils. Also, use electronic contact cleaner on the coil connector. I had no bad coils after doing this.

    For anyone doing this, save yourself the hassle and just give yourself a full tuneup in this situation. Spark plugs are put in at the same time. If one goes the others are bound to go eventually. So don't go through the hassle twice! Do it right the first time!

      @@merlincaren1 could of been changed prior to you doing the work, or u may also have had bad intake gasket, which would have caused your spark plug to fowl out or could have just changed everyone but that one you changed, they're constantly being used, and usually have around the same life expectancy unless uneven engine power is being distributed. Ur situation CAN happen, but now ur risking doubling if not 4-11x the labor by changing one by one out.

    If you don’t know whether or not your coil is bad, use a voltmeter to check the ohms. A new coil should have a resistance of 1.3. There’s no need to guess.

    This sparkplug could have been dropped during installation. I've seen this over and over once you set the gap on your plugs then one slips and lands on the end of the plug it mashes the gap closed. Always recheck your gap if the plug is dropped.

    • @Joshyodenn
      @Joshyodenn  3 года назад

      I don't have a video for that, but it should be located inside the car behind the rear passenger side wheel well ,underneath everything, mounted to the shell of the car. Make sure to disconnect negative battery cable when taking this apart so you don't end up with fault codes.

      The spark plugs for this car come pre-gapped. They dont make a manual gap plug for these cars

    • @RothBeyondTheGrave

      .031 as in the owners manual. Most all modern plugs do come pre gapped, but the spec is still listed for a reason.
