Having read the first book before watching the series, let me say that your videos have increased my appreciation and enjoyment of both the book and the show! I've looked forward to hearing your analysis evolve as you engaged with the episodes week after week. You've definitely earned a new subscriber here! On a side note, I'm halfway through the second book, and it's riveting. I could not put it down yesterday and burned through 120 pages in one day! If you like the Saul character (Luo Ji in the book), you will love where his story goes from here!
A very brave take “going there” with some of those issues you discussed and you pulled it off masterfully by NOT dodging away from it and hitting it head on while not demonstrating any particular bias. But rather a well researched and articulate narrative. Kudos to you 💯
It has both right and wrong within it, like yin and yang, but instead of mixing both right and wrong (because it's just going to create confusion and more wrong), strive for the better, accept the challenge to do/try good and overcome the evil within us, we can't do it by ourselves though, we need help.
I think your analysis so far is pretty spot on. I've been reading the book trilogy, I had to take a break about halfway through the second book because the existential dread is just a little too intense at times. It goes very very deep. I don't think you're looking into this too much at all, I think the show was intended like you said, to get people to question these ideas. Some people are not fans of the show because they read the books first, I don't necessarily agree with those people, I think this adaptation is doing a fantastic job of bringing these ideas to a much wider audience. Looking forward to your new video coming soon...
yeah I've heard the book series referred to as "the most terrifying sci fi story" for many reasons but it is super dreadful. and thank you! going to be talking about season 2 and wrapping up some things from season 1 🙌
@@jamesdewayne season 2? You know that's primarily supposed to be based on the dark forest which is the second book, right? My understanding is that it probably won't be here until 2026, and considering the scope of that book, that's not surprising. That book is a monster compared to the first book which is pretty heavy itself.
@@ghost79ish yeah I wanted to go over theories of what will happen based on the perspective of someone who hasn't read the books. do you think that would be a good idea ? I do know the concept of the "dark forrest" and what the plan Saul could have according to the DF theory but yeah I imagine the next season will take a LONG time lol
@@jamesdewayne I say go for it. You've done a pretty awesome job of theorizing so far, if you're wrong I don't see any harm in that. It's a fascinating book that makes people think, and that's exactly what you're doing, so I encourage more. You're doing a great job
Appreciate the analysis & I agree with the various themes you’ve identified but feel like the series has done them in such a clunky way. Really don’t like any of the main characters esp. Will (looks like a Rice Krispies character and Auggie (acting like she’s in a tele novella) and a lot of the plot is kinda ridiculous- the Wade setup is dumb. Really enjoys the season up to episode 4; after that not so much. Really hoping season 2 is better
fair enough, in retrospect the acting isn't as strong but the story itself is so good that I just needed a visual. I think its good enough for there to be some holes in some of the actual dialogue and screenwriting
2:12 Except you fail to realize just as the creators of that did that for every tree we cut down, dozens more get planted, if that werent the case, earth would have lost trees centuries ago. But also, yes it IS progress. Just because someone doesn't like that, doesn't mean it should or needs to stop. Progress will be made whether you like it or not and if that has to come at the detriment of the natural nature, then so be it. Stop being so narrow minded. Point is, progress is gonna be made one way or another, if we need to synthetically produce oxygen, we can and will, if we need to synthetically produce food, we can and will, if we need to do anything to upkeep necessities, we can and will. If you don't wanna do that, then you're welcome to off yourself, because we are NOT accommodating you simply because you complain about how it's "not to your liking".
Didn't know you do archery!😔🏹🎯🔟
this is my favorite comment ever lol
Well done! Great video. Glad I chose to follow your videos from episode one. It enhanced the experience.
Great video man! I'm I glad I subscribed back in the Manifest era

You’re tweaking
With such people as you in the world the genocidal intentions of The Santi, which are moot, become more understandable.
