Conan and his companion, the thief Malak, are confronted by Queen Taramis of Shadizar, who tests their combat ability with several of her guards. Satisfied, she tells Conan that she has a quest for him. He refuses her, but when she promises to resurrect his lost love, Valeria, Conan agrees to the quest. He is to escort the Queen's niece, Princess Jehnna, a virgin, who is destined to restore the jeweled horn of the dreaming god Dagoth. The magic gem Heart of Ahriman must first be retrieved, in order to locate the horn. Conan and Malak are joined by Bombaata, the captain of Taramis's guard. Bombaata has secret orders to kill Conan once the gem is obtained.
The gem is secured in the fortress of a powerful wizard, so Conan seeks the help of his friend Akiro, the Wizard of the Mounds, who must first be rescued from a tribe of cannibals who have captured him. The adventurers encounter Zula, a powerful bandit warrior being tortured by vengeful villagers. Freeing Zula at Jehnna's request, Conan accepts the indebted warrior's offer to join their quest.
The adventurers travel to the castle of Thoth-Amon, where the gem is located. As they sleep by the lake surrounding the castle, the wizard takes the form of a giant bird and kidnaps Jehnna. In the morning Akiro divines this and also divines a hidden entrance to the castle through a water gate. As they search for Jehnna, Conan is separated from the group, and the others are forced to watch him battle a fierce man-beast in a hall of mirrors. By breaking the mirrors Conan mortally wounds the creature which is revealed as a polymorphed Thoth-Amon. With the wizard's death, the castle begins to disintegrate, forcing the group's hasty retreat. They are ambushed by Taramis's guards, but drive them off. Bombaata feigns ignorance about the attack. The gem reveals where the jeweled horn is. Jehnna expresses romantic interest in Conan, but he rebuffs her and declares his devotion to Valeria.
They reach an ancient temple, where the horn is secured. Jehnna obtains it while Akiro deciphers engravings. He learns that Jehnna will be ritually sacrificed to awaken Dagoth. They are attacked by the priests guarding the horn. A secret exit is revealed, but Bombaata blocks the others' escape and seizes Jehnna. Despite this treachery, Conan and his allies escape from the priests and trek to Shadizar to rescue Jehnna.
Malak shows them a secret route to the throne room. Conan confronts Bombaata and kills him in combat. Zula impales the Grand Vizier before he can sacrifice Jehnna. The rising Dagoth becomes distorted from a human statue into a monstrous entity. He kills Taramis, then attacks Conan. Zula and Malak join the fight, but Dagoth effortlessly sweeps them aside. Grappling with the monster, Conan tears out Dagoth's horn, weakening Dagoth enough to kill him.
The newly crowned Queen Jehnna offers each of her companions a place in her new court: Zula will be the new captain of the guard, Akiro the queen's advisor, and Malak the court jester. Jehnna offers Conan marriage and the opportunity to rule the kingdom with her as her King, but he declines and departs to find further adventures and his own place in the world... but that is another story.

That ending shot of Conan on his throne is the definition of iconic. Did it take a fantastic director to get that shot? Maybe. Did it take an incredibly talented costume designer? Absolutely. But I don't think it could exist without Arnie. The picture of masculinity, authority, and competence sitting on a throne _you know for a damn fact_ he earned with his own blood, sweat, and triumph.

How is Hollywood not able to produce magic like this anymore. CGI and DEI really have ruined the art of movie making, they turned Hollywood from Magic to a cheap birthday clown. Awesome upload thank you for this!

@@thomasliger-belair1118 yes it does. Women and minorities are being given roles exclusively because they are women and minorities. They don’t have resumes, bodies of work, or anything else that would justify their positions. This is completely different from the old Hollywood where artists and people addicting to making films were given roles so they could create works of art. The more a society moves away from meritocracy, the farther it moves away from art.

Fair play to you but I am surprised you hold this film such high regard compared to the first one.. This one was poor acting and directing, Those monsters are just babyish You can tell it's just not a serious film compared to the first one, I could even tell as a 7-year-old boy that the first one was a massive difference compared to this one.

I actually watched this second film first as a child in the 80s! Loved it then and still do. However, the first film is a masterpiece and was too hard to top.
Doesn't hold a candle to the first film, but it's a fun movie none the less.

My father owned a movie theater 🎭 when I was a kid and all of these old 80s movies will always be my go to and I have seen all of the big Arnold Schwarzenegger movies 1000x of times 😂
I met Arnie as Governor and he is just as impressive in his latter years. Dude is the real deal and one of a kind! Thank you Arnold for decades of great memories in film watching.

They're too busy trying to placate the Females of the Human Race, than to be True Men! They dress in their Pastels and Pinks, and turn into a bunch of snowflakes, if anybody does or says anything to hurt their little feelings. They love their Soy Milk and their Tofu Hotdogs, and they love acting as if they're subservient to a Woman, instead of being a true, masculine Man!

I have read more than one conversation in the past ten years that I assume was made mostly by teens/tweens. They were talking about how they didn't bother to watch any of the newer shows/movies at all, and were talking about all the old shows from before 2000. Some of the badmouthing about newer shows was bad enough for moderators to edit out the expletives.
Television must be really bad now if teenagers don't want to watch it.
Watched this so many times since childhood. One of my favorite movies. The soundtrack is amazing.
The first Conan movie was the better one. But this one is still nice and entertaining. And it has the soundtrack made by Basil Polidouris. The Conan soundtrack is one of the greatest themes ever composed for a movie. Sadly they are hard to get nowadays. So, if you like it and see it for a reasonable price, take it. Like Zula would take a man. 😉

Grace Jones was one of the highlights of this movie! Her role as Zula was nothing short of phenomenal!

That scene at the end from now queen Jehnna's kingdom always brings me a lump in the throat and goosebumps,.. from Conan climbing the stairs, the kiss, Conan's exit court-right, and the last narration,.. EPIC!

Because of his soundtrack this films will live forever, all my respect for Grace Jones also stunning performance as Zula . l am sad they didn't make a number III film. This movie is so epic, but the acting lol. Loving the story. Omg the sorcerer, all he did was put two fingers together and pointed out the very obvious and later lit a torch for Conan.

I wanted to watch Conan and chew bubble gum, and I was all out of gum.
This kiss at the end was great. It was symbol of Conan real character - his steadfastness and power over himself and all odds. She was a little bit too young for him but she was already beautifull women. Anyway, great scene! Thank you for this spectacular movie! ;)

The music of both parts is absolutely great.
People who don’t love this movie, I look forward to hearing the lamentations of their women.
In some cases, though, the Women will look forward to having their "Male Counterparts" give their Lamentations to their Women!
For awhile now, things have gotten so bad, that the Female of the Human Race has taken over the "Boss" role, while their "Male Counterparts" cry and snivel, begging them not to leave them.

40 years later, and we are still waiting for that "Another Story". Perhaps we will get a third closing movie with Arnold. Hopefully it will be more in line with the first movie, which is vastly superior.

This was Andre the giants first big movie 🎬 it was filmed in Mexico and he got arnold front row seats to a wrestling match he was in the they went out for dinner afterwards 😳 at the end of the meal arnold said Andre im paying and Andre said no i am paying and arnold said Andre you got me tickets to your wrestling match and i want to pay for dinner ANDRE stood up and lifted arnold like a lttle kid and set him on top of a 7 foot high cabinet and went and payed the dinner bill

Sadly most people who have seen these Conan movies have never read any Robert E. Howard. If you have you know that this doesn't come close to who Conan is. These movies have some merit as a sword and sorcerey film.
This is true. Most of the original Robert E. Howard Conan stories are now in the public domain and can be read for free. If you can find them online.

Absolutely. The character found in Robert E. Howard's original stories is the only Conan there is. They should have just named these films, "The Barbarian", because the literary Conan is altogether absent in them. I feel sorry for the many people whose only concept of 'Conan' comes from the fuggin' movies.
@@Eadbhard I think you are being a bit unfair. Od course Arnold is a bit short for the part and a bit dumb on the character but overall they did capture the lore somehow;..Except for those many years on the wheel of pain of the first movie.

as a wee child, i saw Conan the Barbarian on cable, read about in all the magazines as a kid, starlog and fangoria. great film. unchallenged to this very day.
... . when Conan the Destroyer came out we bought tickets for a different PG film,... then stealthily we went into Conan the Destroyer instead.
even as a dumb child, i loathed it. i still do. i cant bare to watch it... i loathe you, Conan the Destroyer ... bad sets, suspect lighting, off key wardrobe, oddball comedy relief. . . . . . .. . . . .. i think they made Conan the Destroyer with a fraction of the budget...they used in the first film.
if you enjoy this film, Conan the Destroyer, and have not seen the first one, Conan the Barbarian, consider it. its got more mood, its more racy. its more mature, has more cinematography savvy. even Arnold acts better. go figure?

They gave the original director the boot after he refused to compromise and went with a hack on the second one.
Also went for a PG rating to chase the money and get less on the box office.
Arnie is on record as saying he would of made a Conan flick every couple of years just like they did with the Bond movies.

If I were Conan I would have offered to marry the princess on condition that I would be king and sole supreme monarch, with her as queen with limited powers. Thus Conan would rule a kingdom and get gorgeous wife and keep his loyal friends at his side. The plot had other ideas...
Conan told that he'd being agreed to join and help them bcoz the Queen had been promised him to make his beloved girlfriend Valeria alive again.
