  • So I thought I would have a look at making my own USB to serial converter. I plan to use this concept in future Arduino projects. Taking inspiration from Jullian Ilett's video I decided to use the CH340 chip.
Whilst doing this it seems EasyEDA have updated their software. Easy EDA now allows you to view your board in any colour!

Micro USB s always break on me. Surface mount chips are so easy to deal with and very cheap.
Thank you for this video. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Small baby steps most people think trivial are big steps for beginners.

Did it work? I'm designing a circuit that uses an USB to TTL converter.

Did it end up working?, I'm attempting the same thing and burnt 1 of my 3 chips, also do you need to upload a bootloader or should it just work?

To be honest I haven't ordered the board yet. I'm not sure which USB connector I should use. I think I've used a Type-A USB connector, but I believe that is incorrect. I think I should use a type B. So that gives me the choice of B, mini B or micro B. I'm also uncertain about the JLCPCB assembly service. I still think it's too expensive for such a small prototype. I think I need to ensure I'm only using basic parts.
