Sir my portfolio is unbalanced, please suggest some funds to balance them and what to expect from my portfolio; I have seen many videos but not been able to balance my portfolio. Please answer this in your Q&A. My idea for my goal is to gather a large corpus over the period of 7+ years by taking some risk and getting good returns.
      1. Axis Long Term Equity. 2. HDFC Small cap funds. 3. Sundaram Rural India Consumption fund.

What should we have : minimal portfolio for every goal or one portfolio for all goals??
Absence of this understanding, we generally just add funds randomly..

    Question :
Downside protection - Is it fund level or overall portfolio.
Combo 1 : Aggressive Hybrid fund + Debt fund
Combo 2 : Pure Index funds + Debt fund
My understanding, the both above combos, Downside protection is achieved. Why not Pure index funds in place of Aggressive hybrid fund. At least you can save low expenses compare to Hybrid funds.

Given what happen to franklin. do you think buying same bluechip from axis, hdfc, icici might help diversify (not averaging) my portfolio. Wanted your view upon this.
Should I stick with one large cap or no harm in buying 4 large cap mutual fund.

A retiree with cash wishes to generate tax free income after maxing the tax free amount for retiree FD? Say 50L. I saw your post on generating tax free income from arbitrage. Can we do a mix of arbitrage and short term bond funds? Like for example say - withdraw year 1, year 2 from arbitrage corpus (5-6ish%) , year 3 from debt corpus (7ish%) , year 4 from arbitrage and year 5 from FD (7ish%) , year 6 from debt and the cycle goes on . This will essentially prolong the arbitrage corpus as well as save on the tax from debt mutual funds and FD. Kindly advise if such a thing was possible and what percentage of allocation should be done for each of these 3 corpus as a portfolio management for retirees.

      @amitkanjilal1158 3 года назад +1

@@ravichandrankulandaivelu5896 For long term (more than 10 years) it's very difficult for any active fund to beat the Index Fund. Nifty 50 Index Fund & Nifty Next 50 Index Fund are very good for long term investments. Yes, Index Funds are equity funds only which tracks an underlying index.

I should confess that I check my wealth many times a month, I should do it quaterly. For my stock portfolio it works great because when any stock has fallen around some support I add or any over reaction.
I expect over reaction of confirmation of unemployment and lower GDP by Govt. I have funds and I'll add. Of course I watch either my research was wrong or any other thing has changed I am always ready to change.
You said correctly that you are not as informative as before because I also follow same pattern or direction as yours.
But I am emotionally connected with you teacher I don't know how.
I hadn't wrote as big reply or comment to any person before.

One of my very good friends in Pune sounds and talks exactly like you, especially in academic settings. I can't get myself to call you Pattu sir .. since you remind me of him a lot. I'll use "dude" .. because that kinda stuck.
Dude .. it is an absolute pleasure watching your videos. My financial mode of operation is close to how you generally recommend it across your videos. But I seem to learn so much from these! I will make a sincere effort to stop watching my investments and spend the time on something else. Although, COVID has made it really difficult to stay away from investing apps and AMC websites. Thank you for the effort you've put in :)

    Mistakes of market
You can't average out by buying same funds
There is no suitable time to invest
Don't expect 4-5% more return than inflation
Don't get amazed by past returns
Don't feelthe need to know more about new product
    Focus on big things
    Don't track so much
Stop thinking is information is power , its knowledge which is power
More risk is not equal to more returns
Short term loss or gains does not means long term returns will be okay
    Locking money is shit
    Not always stocks > mfs
Don't assume u know the fund managers just outsource it and chill
Market timing matters with big money and big drop in market

Prof. I had a question relating to point 4.
My parents are in their 60s and have a significant corpus invested in equities. Given the current political scenario (BJP having won the LS election and the industry/market being buoyant as a result) they are of the opinion that from now on the market is gonna rise only.
They are also of the opinion that you need to buy good companies and forget it. Invest for the long term.
However, I have my doubts about this strategy. There is no guarantee that the market will not be in the dumps when they actually need the money. So, given their age, I feel its best to book profits (at least 50% portfolio) and get out of equities and invest in relatively risk-free/safe products.
What would you suggest in such a scenario? Appreciate your work. Thank you.

Remember whenever you listen thing like that from anyone don't put all your money when everyone is as bullish as written by you.
You can see in past and you will in future too. I can't say for this time but I am not bullish at these levels for short term. Do actually opposite what retail investors are doing in stock market.
