    Once again the media referencing ‘the West Ham way’ - none of us fans speak of it, only them, yet it’s thrown at us constantly as some sort of stick to beat us with.
    Truth is, we want what everyone else wants, football that is entertaining and provides some level of success. Why is there this constant assertion that exciting football equals instant relegation and we should be grateful for staying up regardless of how boring and dull it is to watch!!

    • @clivet3252
      @clivet3252 14 дней назад

      It's the English way. Know your place and stay in your lane. It's not as if these managers who play negative football don't get hammered. The aim of football is to score goals and try to win. And if you play open football and concede a lot of goals or keep it tight and don't score many it ends up being the same difference. And you might not lose as many but you won't win as many. Bielsa was a genius when he was going toe to toe with Man City and Liverpool and finished in the top half. When they hammered him and he was in a relegation battle then he became a hopeless loser who had to be sacked to keep Leeds up. Burnley were below them in the table and Leeds had done the double over them but sacking Dyche was crazy because he was certain to keep them up. It's nonsense.

    • @matthewambrose4102
      @matthewambrose4102 14 дней назад

      It's not just West Ham. I hear constant references to different clubs' styles of play, without anyone ever defining what it is or just making it up. When I was growing up Arsenal were very well known for being boring but very successful, grinding out results. But now apparently 'the Arsenal way' is exciting, attacking football. It's all nonsense.

  • @martinhanson7765

      I'm glad you said it! Me neither. Equally, I struggle to think that there isn't a club in the world that doesn't have a set ethos, values and tradition that makes each club unique. As much as there is a West Ham Way, there is an Arsenal Way, Man City Way and so forth. Sick and tired of the lazy media analysis.

He was attracted to Chelsea (understandable) and didn't do anything there in his 8 months (understandable). His political insights? His leadership qualities? Nope, me neither. I don't think he'll work miracles until these elements are addressed. Speed at the back and more so in midfield and more physical strength in that area are the 2 obvious ones. New owners scrambling in the dark because previous board had let too many senior players contracts lapse also. Losing battles all over.

    Apart from getting a couple of promotions in the lower divisions of Sweden, what has he actually achieved in football?
    He finished mid-table in his one season at Swansea, who, incidentally, got to the play-offs in the two seasons after he left, his Premier League win percentage at Brighton was very similar to Chris Hughton's and, like Swansea, Brighton were better off without him and he had a nightmare at Chelsea and then was out of work for about two years!
    I reckon he'll be gone within a year!

    His time at Brighton was comparable to Howe at Bournemouth, better than Silvas previous tenures and Nuno may have been a little better but not by much.
    All in all it's about whether he he take his experiences at Chelsea and not make the same mistakes.
    The other managers have improved in their new jobs and he has to show the same growth and understanding.

  • @Charlie-l4p
    @Charlie-l4p 15 дней назад

    Quite right. It’s a myth that he did so “brilliantly” at Brighton as well. He did “quite well/alright” - dyche got Burnley to Europe, Nuno got Wolves to Europe, de Zerbi got Brighton to Europe, Potter finished mid table with them. He also comes across extremely arrogant, which given his achievements, I can’t really understand why. Similar to Ange in that respect.

      Agreed, potters been touting himself for months for other peoples job, the southampton job, leicester, spurs etc and now hes finally took anothermans job at west ham. Might do well but he quickly left swansea for brighton then walked out on brighton for chelsea, doesnt seem.that loyal to me either

    • @Charlie-l4p
      @Charlie-l4p 15 дней назад

      @ There were things that came out about him at Brighton as well. He said he wore disguise when walking around Brighton because he didn’t wanna be mobbed, as if he’s Daniel Craig or something, Brighton isn’t even a footballing city, nobody would glance at him. Then when spurs sacked Mourinho, rumour had it that they wanted him and he apparently said he was waiting for a “bigger club”… add that to thinking himself too big for Ajax etc in the last year and you get one delusional bloke.

    • @jordanharrison8454
      @jordanharrison8454 14 дней назад

      De Zerbi got Potter's team to Europe. Brighton were barely even a Championship team for most of their history and Potter transformed them into an entertaining, well run, progressive club.
      He gave De Zerbi the platform to progress from.
      Just ignorance thinking otherwise.

    More likely to succeed than Lopetegui and I suspect that's all we can hope for at WHUFC. Recruitment is not value for money and literally pouring millions down the drain. Man Utd is a typical example where, if your recruitment is poor , you end up in the doldrums for many years , no matter which manager you get in.

      @jcd-kh7rn 15 дней назад

      Agreed. I don't deny that Potter failed at Chelsea and he can be overly sensitive. However, not only was there transitional chaos at Chelsea but the 2 best players that Chelsea have (Palmer & Caicedo) had not been signed when Potter was there - given that Potter had worked with Caicedo previously at Brighton and it had been a successful relationship that might have helped both of them. It also probably doesn't help Potter in Simon's eyes that he was Brighton manager and did a good job there.
