Steve Perry is one of those singers who has a unique voice registry (or tune, idk what's the correct term). Loved this faster version too. We can only say thanks for all those good years! (instead of comparing him or talking trash about Neal Schon or what Journey did after Steve).
Journey without Steve perry is like an Elvis impersonator as good as they might be it’s still not Elvis. Journey is not journey without Steve. Anything else is just a cheap imitation. Steve perry has one of the best voices ever.

I like Ross don't get me wrong. But Randy l feel is a Kick Ass bassist. He cranks it up and puts the thunder in this Song.The original version is warm and under rated for sure. But Kenny's life & Courage becomes a celebration in this version.But also for others like Kenny to be up lifted & Staying Positive. I had such high hopes that Perry would reunite for their 50th anniversary and the magic would be back, but due to all this soap opera drama going on with members it's never gonna happen. People being fired, lawsuits and other things. It's a sad ending for such a popular band, I remember when they were on top of the world and voted best band in the US. I saw them with new singers and just didn't feel the magic, I also saw them in the late 70's and the early 80's when they exploded with Escape and Frontiers, those were awesome concerts. I wish I had a time machine.

I disagree l think Arnel has done a great Job as Lead. He also has sung some Original Journey Songs as well since with them. Steve A. Did a very well too. Yes Perry is the Voice! One of Best Ever for Rock 🎸. Plus his energy on stage with Neal. I know for Fact if the new set of Journey had gotten thru at least through 96 thats a decade. You would be not even thinking Ross or Smith. But how Randy's & Perry's R&B backgrounds with Neal's soulful & Johnathan writing. They would produced at least 3-5 albums as that Journey! ROR IS A TOTALLY UNDERATED ALBUM..
