  • How I made opal - from epoxy and iridescent film. Magic stone opal in resin. I poured black epoxy into the sphere shape, and twisted it from time to time so that the resin would solidify in a sphere shape in a circle. After that, I poured epoxy in layers and added a little iridescent film to create volume. And after 5 layers, I cleaned the sphere with sandpaper. The result is a very beautiful sphere imitating opal.

Firstly thats absolutely amazing. I get the same sensation of being absolutely mistified as the real thing.
I cant tell you how much for this as im about to start my first resin project , a table or chopping board, or something.
❤️ Big time tnx i cant tell you what the words irridesent film mean to me.
I wonder what would happen if the layers of resin are slightly coloured.
    Tnx AMAZING!

Wow that’s beautiful! How long do you wait in between pouring in your layer resin and adding the glittery stuff? And then how long beteeen glittery stuff and next pour of clear? 😁

I add sequins immediately, between layers I fill in as the last layer dries, in my case it is 1 day.

Thank you for your comment. I bought it on Aliexpress, shiny glitter. Shimmering film. But you can also find similar things on Amazon and eBay. ❤

It’s beautiful but it’s flat on the top so isn’t a perfect sphere, however, as I say it’s still extremely beautiful

What type of resin do you use the brand?

I have Epodex resin, European and also good Dutch, I don’t know the name, but I know its number 828. But you look at what resins are in your country or in your region. There are resins for jewelry work, and there are for large volumes. I use it for large fills, as they can be filled with a large thick ball and it hardens for a long time and makes it possible to work with it for a long time, both ink and glitter.
