FINALLY a video where this pedals ambient & reverb uses are showcased. Other videos for this just focus on the delay and on surf or weird video game kind of sounds.
@@AmbientEndeavors I'm actually wrestling with this right now.. looking for an additional pedal for creating lush, deep ambient sounds. @@mr.d.572 I run a good ol holy grail, oceans 11 and a Boss DD-200. Has been a great combo for me especially playing at church. The oceans 11 and Boss DD200 replaced the OG DL4 that I used for years. This DL4 with the verb is insane tho and will be going on my board 100%. I'll probably end up with the DD-200, DL4 MKII and the Holy Grail for verb/delay.
Lush sounds, very nice indeed, so much so I've just ordered this effects unit along with a used MM4...modulation frenzy incoming. Great job on this content bud...subbed.
FINALLY! A comprehensive demo. Why a guitarist should listen to thousand words, when we need thousand tones to listen what the L6 DL4 MKii is capable of. Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
hey, if you figure it out let me know ;-) seriously, thanks for watching - tell all your gear-loving friends and maybe we'll push that subs number up a bit!!
EXCELLENT demo of this unit. I just received one and totally dig it. You've inspired me to try some similar sounds. Hey - what kind of guitar is that? Sounds fantastic!
thanks for watching! glad you are enjoying it yourself! I'm playing a Harmony Silhouette with Bigsby here, it's a really fun guitar made here in the US
Thanks for watching! These are rolling out to shops as we speak, should be available (if not pre-sold or sold out) within the week. A few big online retailers have pre-order options - that's the safest route per my sources at L6.
Thanks for the kind words! Effects in the intro include: Crisscross + Hall verb - chord movements Transistor Tape + Plate - Strat lead Glitch delay - Harmony lead Looper for ambient loop layer Dual Delay + Room - B section lead
Yes most certainly with the Helix Stomp preset downloading capability, but that’s besides the point. What you are getting is a revised version of a legendary delay pedal that pathed the way for most multi effects pedals including the Stomp. What you’re getting here is an excellent sounding delay pedal made even better, almost half the price of the Line 6 Helix Stomp.
It's a great way to put it. There's obvious redundancy across L6's line of products, but if you hold this up to a Timeline or other multi-delay, with its feature set and depth of sounds it's a really compelling option. If you're already a L6 user with one or more HX products, might be redundant. I don't currently have any HX products so I'm thrilled to basically have a near-entire wet section with looper and MIDI all in one.
@@AmbientEndeavors I just went Stomp for silent recording (oh my that’s been a game changer) so completely redundant for me. But if you haven’t Helixed and are looking at delay options this is in there for sure.
@@AmbientEndeavors yes! I was thinking I could dump my reverb pedal as well and just use the A-F banks as with different reverb and delay presets instead of reaching down to move my reverb pedal around constantly.
I have a triple delay and would never give it up...it's so great.. but I am definitely interested in the new DL4 to have right beside the triple delay.
I been looking on videos on this, but not realy understud what is the "thing" about this pedal intill you made this demo. Thank you, awsom. Now I don't know what to buy, RE-202 or this one. 🙂
I haven’t *yet* played the re-202, but I’ve told a few people that the Cosmos patch on the mkII is one of my favorite sounds. It’s hard to pick against the mkII because of all the sounds you get, including all the reverbs. Echosystem is great too, and you can run dual engines on it if that matters to you.
You can, yea! You can create presets with either delay only, delay+reverb, or reverb only (turn the delay mix to 0). You can also set the order of effects for each preset.
Been holding out for this for years! I've had a v1 for 15 years and it's a bit worse for wear. Managed to resist the newer pedals on the market mostly because it stressed me out thinking about having to recreate my dl4 sounds... And potentially Lossing that auto volume sound... More banks all original sounds plus new.. better loop (for my original loop was rubbish) and more... Any price point yet?
It's a great question. Actively working on some solutions to make capturing real amp tones easier and sound the best. For now, and especially for stereo applications (which I do a lot of delay/verb videos in) the Iridium is super convenient, sounds good, and is consistent and familiar. If someone wants to fund a studio build out I'd love to crank up the amps, but most days I'm dodging kids' naps and limited space in the basement studio ;)
Do you have a volume pedal you prefer? I'm looking to get into ambient guitar, and all the volume pedal reviews I find seem to always find something bad about the pedal, especially the string with the Ernie Ball pedals.
I hear your pain! I've historically been through a bunch of Ernie Ball VPJrs. Just picked up one of the new Kevlar versions, its pretty good. I love the feel of Goodrich/Hilton volumes, but they're big/heavy and expensive. The Lehle is cool, sweep took some getting used to for me, and ultimately the need for power and its size were prohibitive for me. It's tough; anything with a string feels like a ticking time bomb, the alternate smaller MXR ones don't feel good to me, and the nicer options are $200+. I kinda found my way back into just using my guitar knob, or will give the VPJr another go.
This was important for me too . Can be set to either analog dry through or the DSP processing of dry signal like the original. Details are in the online manual.
@@ribbonsofeuphoria5744 Oh ok thanks! VERY COOL! You know I was thinking that, maybe in the future the DL4 processed sound may have a coloring producers want for their productions. So to have a choice, instead of abolishing it completely, MAYBE A WISE CHOISE!
Very tempted to pick one up, as I never played the original DL4. Good enough to replace both my separate Reverb (Holy Grail Plus) and Looper (Boss RC-20)?
There are some great reverb sounds for sure; I’m a big fan of the hall, and a few others are solidly ones I’d use as standard reverbs. And the looper is one of my favorites. Depending on your situational use, it may or may not work for you, but the sounds are great.
Looks like the looper shortcut mod is STILL needed on the mk2🤦. At $420 you think Line 6 would have fixed the number one mod done to the first version…. Still no word on the volume drop from the first version either.
Both. Hahah. I saw that re-202 come out and instantly was intrigued. I will say the Space Echo patch on the DL4 is one of my favorites, and you get such a huge variety of sounds with DL4 that you don’t with the RE, so it comes down to what your needs are.
