    Left Proby school and entered the quarters of E- 60, L-17, L- 17-2 and B-14, April of 1973.
    We were gladiators knee deep in that South Bronx coliseum and at 22 years of age I loved it.

      I worked those trucks. With a 2 stage pump and the Mack diesel, you could get 200 psi just above a quick idle of the engine.

    Seeing the Satellite in this video bought back memories of when I rode with Satellite the Satellite officer in Car 530. I would switch from Satellite one to the Satellite officer car and respond to EVERY SECOND ALARM FIRE IN THE CITY.
    I had that option because I was assigned to The Community Relations Bureau as an Auxiliary Captain.
    Spending the night at Satellite One's quarters was an awesome experience to ride to every Second alarm fire in the City and assist them with the manifold and stretching those four and a half inch lines. I even got to ride with Captain O'Malley who was the Super Pumper System Commanding Officer in Car 920 out of the quarters of Ladder 119 where the Super Pumper was quartered on Hooper Street in Williamsburg Brooklyn. All hands eye opened wide. Transmitting the Second Alarm and it was out the door. No electronic sirens in those days just a Federal 28 manual siren. JOHN KELLY AND JIMMY PRESS of Satellite One.
    I remember the night when Lieutenant Siglegh died of a heart attack while on the scene of a Third Alarm fire. Ambulance 4 rushed him to Hospital but he was DOA.

      Please go to a website called www.nycfire.net . There are many stories, photos, and videos representing this time. Check out the HISTORY section there. Topics such as "My Younger Buff Years", "Remberance", "Glory Days". Stories told by active and retired firefighters and buffs who were there. Hope to see you there, Willy D, aka NFD2004 on that site.

    Company 732 truck looks to be one of the ladder companies rebranded as a “Tactical Control Unit (TCU) during the war years. I’m guessing that this designation allowed extra units to be put into service while staying within the FDNY operational budget.

    • @Bald_Cat2007
      @Bald_Cat2007 Год назад

      The fdny were doing tests in the 80s of the effectiveness of the lime green (also known as safety yellow) they had 10 mack cf pumpers and 1 American LaFrance pumper painted with this color. One of these engines painted was Engine 10 (engine 10 is stationed with ladder 10 near the world trade center) but the lime green paint sadly failed
