exceptional coupe. coupe has advantages over hatch (no heavy as lead hatch squeaking, shuddering and shaking around when driving over uneven pavement, stronger and more rigid cross-structure behind rear seat, more headroom for rear seat occupants and a totally different look). really nice looking car, interior and engine sound. rear spoiler looks cool on the coupe.
😃Hey great mustang has great balance to this nimble machine! Some go too big with tire diameter because the wheel base is fairly short the overall diameter is kept smaller. This is great. You have a great sense of balance on both these vehicles and probably all that you do thanks for the presentation of these masterpeices. i am shall try to accomplish the very same. You bless god. bless you.
Nice build. Brings up fond memories. I helped a buddy rebuild his dad's black and gold ’76 Cobra II back in high school. Always liked the hatches, but it's really cool to see someone do justice to a notch.
I commend you on an outstanding build.you had a vision and went for it.i can relate being i did a 75 II like yours, then I sold it,lost my ass.but the experience I had in its transformation was a blast, kudos
i made the tail lights from another set. the inside reds are the same dimensions as the amber, so i cut another set apart, then dremeled out the reverse lenses out of the ambers, dremeled out holes for them in the donor reds and epoxied them in...and tadaaa! factory looking all red tail lights.
nice car Adam I had a 78 notch in high school in the late 80s. the comment you said about fastest mustang 2 in your area was funny bc I just recently moved back to the area I went to high school in and not just some but all of my friends in this area soon as they seen me around again ask me what ever happen to that bad ass mustang you had.ha it was hands down the fastest car in my area. it got impossible to find a race. course that was back when you street raced actual street cars not trailer your race car to the spot. and I love the fast back spoiler on yours I always wanted one for mine but never did it. I also dreamed of a Monroe handler body kit on my notch think that would have looked good. anyway awesome car man.
Nice Mustang I just brought a 78 Mustang Ghia factory 302 automatic changing to a T5 did you buy a new Hydraulic conversion kit ? because only one I found was for 79 and up Mustang and 73 and back no 1974 to 78 Thanks Darren
That is a sweet badass ride, is that car now named Vader? If so I knew that I recognized that thing because you don't see many that's that badass everywhere that you look at the car. It's too cool way too cool. The blue one is going to be cool as well. Im the one that is following the new build that is building up a 347 79 pinto and have commented on your page alot but i noticed that the car has a different name in this video but I know that it is Vader which is better than phestus i think that it suits it better and has a nice ring to it 😁👍🏽 man that thing is too badass
yes, this is Vader...lol and the new Blue one is Rene', thanks for following the build, currently i am on hold waiting on my engine and wheels and of course...it's cold outside...hahahaaa! this video was at my old house just before i divorced, bought a new house and moved to where i am now...but you are correct...this is Vader.

Yeah you was hauling ass with the build and would be finished up by now if you had everything else you needed. I had a long set back with mine as well due to a crack in the outside of my block and it took 11weeks to get it back and I just got my heads back today from the machine shop so I guess I can roll on with it finally. I ended up Buying the New for One Year Only, 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP which was lighter and Faster at that time! But, I am still a Ford Guy at heart and I currently have a 03 Mustang GT/Cobra Project going on right now, But I've had thought's of getting a 1975 (I live in California and the smog laws here make it easier to do engine swaps on 75 or earlier cars) Mustang coupe or fastback and do a engine swap using the new 3.5L EcoBoost Twin Turbo V6, a paddle shift 6 sp trans and IRS! Well we will see what happens after I finish my current project!...God Bless! BTW!...Here's an update, Inow own a 08 V6 Mustang! I am also now a Left Leg Below the knee Amputee! So I had to give up my 03 Mustang GT/Cobra project car with the 5sp! manual!
I have an Austin Healey kit car that uses a Mustang 2 donor car. Can you tell me what Wilwood dusk brake kit you used? I want to do the same conversion on mine.
The engine looks and sounds awesome but I do believe the engine is suffering from a very small breather filter it should have a little bigger at least be a cotton gauze as in a k&n filter because everybody knows the faster in and the faster out the air goes the more horsepower gains you make.
thanks!! i have a 3000cfm fan, using it as a pusher [had to reverse the fan], since i had no room to use as a puller, the thinner pullers do not have enough cfm, so get a pusher or a puller and just turn the fan around on the puller to make it a pusher.
Thats not a Mustang II....or a Cobra.... Mustang II and Cobra's were hatch backs... That is a Mustang Ghia, it has a trunk.... Still looks and runs nice... My first car was a 1978 Mustang King Cobra... Loved that car...
all of the 74-78s are "mustang IIs" it is the trim packages that determined whether they are mach 1s, cobras IIs or king cobras etc. mine is a coupe, not a ghia, ghias were again, a package offered and had a smaller rear side glass. mine, however, since i totally customized it, i decided to make it however i felt i wanted, so in our area, we all call ours "snakes" and when we gather, we call it the snake pit...thusly i added the cobra snake to mine, and the 347 stroker emblem etc.
I think the car is awesome , but there are two things I can't stand on any car.... sloppy spark plug wires that dangle all over the place like spaghetti... and a three-foot-long coil wire, the coil can be mounted on the front of the head to eliminate that problem
I've been working on a 75 302 coupe for a few years now. Did you fab that rear spoiler or buy it? I haven't touched the body yet on mine, I'm trying to get the engine fixed. The previous owner really messed it up. Vacuum lines were undone. Electrical wires were unplugged or burned. It's drivable now but the body keeps getting worse year year.
spoiler is off a king cobra, we had to modify it a lot to get it to fit. the metal these were made from in the 70's was not "high grade" so they did rust out badly. that's why so few of these survived. do what you can to save it, they are now becoming collectable and commanding good prices.
well...in total i have nearly 52 grand in it...but...had i done all this when i first built it...i'd have landed around the 34 grand area. originally i had a c4 trans, 8 inch rear, OEM suspension and brakes and control arms etc. all new, but all OEM. now it's a TKO600 5-speed, a 2004GT rear end narrowed 2.5" moser axles, willwood discs all around, tubular a-arms uppers and lowers, coil over suspension and adjustable traction bar set up.
in this build i had just under 52 grand, but when i first did the build i made it automatic with stock, but new suspension and brakes, that was on for one summer, i then did all the suspension changeover to tubular and coil over, and went full disc and back to standard, but to a five speed, so basically, to do the build the first time as i did the second, subtract about 14 grand, so that puts the "as is " build around the 38 grand point. that's just parts, not accounting for labor.
completely false, most people that say that have no idea what they are talking about. the mustang II and the pinto share nothing in common, not even their wheelbase. the IIs were based on their own platform and actually saved the mustang line from being cancelled. by 73, the mustangs had gotten so big and slow and underpowered ford was going to axe the line. had it not been for the IIs, the mustang would have died their. granted, they were a victim of their decade due to the gas crisis and detuning but 2.3 million of these were sold and that revived the line and kept it going. but they share nothing with the pinto other than the ford name
the ghia was the only notch back that was available in V8, the other notches were all base models, had 4 or six's with auto or four speed. why they never made a notch cobra is beyond me, but when i built mine, i decided to make it how i envisioned a cobra notch would be...and then some! :D

several different places, mustangs unlimited, summit racing, jegs, tremec, american powertrain, u.s. mags.

from a 78 king cobra out of scrap yard, did some modifications, trimming, heating, molding, made to fit.
