I tried to love Notion but I just couldn't. I love the simplicity of todoist and it has everything I need and I don't spend so much time on the bells and whistles and spend more time on actually completing my work that needs to get done.
That is absolutely fair! It took me a really long time to get into notion as well and I know a lot of people never do and that is completely valid! Todoist is honestly an amazing app that offers so much within simplicity 👏🏻
Glad I could help!! 🧡 Honestly having a good mobile app is so important, so I fully understand your decision here! It’s still the thing that frustrates me most with Notion 🥲
I follow you on my Sims account. Imagine my surprise when I get this video suggested on my personal account and see you're a PM. For context, I'm studying for my PMP now and also obsessed with Notion lol
No way!! Love it when the algorithm works 🤭 But that’s so cool!! Goodluck with the studying, you got this 💪🏼 And lesgooo more notion people is more better! Always love to meet other people in this productive corner of the world!
I love your content! I would love to see your weekly review. Maybe even a follow along or a guide? I struggle so much to do mine consistently but without it I lose control over my whole week and I'm stressed before the week starts.
Oooh that is such a fun video idea! I never thought about actually filming my weekly review, but I can totally do a sit down video on a Sunday morning to do my weekly review 😍

You literally hit all the reasons I haven't fully moved over to Notion (even though I want to!) Todoist has such a good repeat system and it's nice that it works FOR you. But great job creating the work arounds! After watching your video I'm going to try to fully move over to Notion. Do you have any work around for quick add tasks?
I honestly feel like such a big part of the Notion community is running into the same challenges but with the calendar and the steps they are taking I have a feeling like they might be heading in a favorable direction for this topic!! For adding quick tasks - I have a couple of things in place: - A button on my quick navigation bar (that is on all pages) that adds a task to my task database. The button makes the page and then opens it so I can add all the info - I have a button (like shown in the video) that creates all my weekly recurring tasks so that I can put them to the right day - I have some tasks that reccur monthly set-up using the Notion recurring task system but that is not the most ideal - I have a 'today' view on my main dashboard so when I'm working and something comes up that needs to happen today I add it through there (rather than the quick task button) Hope that answers your question
Love your video. I love the idea of dragging tasks to each day of the week.. I had a suggestion though! For your reoccurring tasks every week, have you tried getting notion to create the task with a due date a week ahead? Like, tell notion to create the reoccurring task on a sunday, but with the due date of that said task for the following Sunday? Then your list for the current day wont show it but once the week that the task applies to comes up, u'll be able to see it ahead of time. Thats how I have my furnace filter replacement, and tracking washing bed sheets and bath towels!
Thank you!! 😄 So there are two of reasons to why I have not set it up that way; 1) I requires formulas to make that happen and I don't know for the life of me how to use those. The basic Notion automation (as far as I know) cannot do that. Formulas genuinely break my brain even though I've spend hours trying to learn and understand them 2) I have a lot of tasks that reccur weekly but not always on the same date/time. This makes using recurring tasks (in any system) kind of annoying so manually scheduling them every week but still have a quick button to pop them up was actually a really nice work-around! If you know of any way to do it without formulas then I'd be happy to hear of course!! 😄
Thank you so much for this video! I love your content. I usually add a filter on my today tab that is “all due today and not “Done” or all due within the past year and not “done” that way overdue tasks and today task show up in the same view and you dont have to constantly click on the other tab.
Thank you!! ☺️ And that is actually quite as smart idea! I might experiment with that as well and see if that works for me. Thanks for sharing the tip!! 🧡
Loved this video! So much inspiration for tweaks I can make to my setup. I also watched your 2024 setup video too! I noticed that you connected the tasks database to the 2024 goals. Does that mean you create new core databases each year or only a goals database? Appreciate you creating videos like this! 💕
Thank you!! 🩷 That is a good question! 2024 is actually the first year I connected the databases so i’m not sure what I’ll do next year. I might actually keep the core databases and just update the goals database and then if that doesn’t work in the first month of the year or so I might actually update the core databases too. Or I might update the goals database to include a year property or something so I can more easily sort that one by year 😊

Love your notion videos! I only recently in my life started doing sunday weekly reviews where I look back at my week and setup the following week. I would really appreciate it if you did a video about that! :)
I’ve been using Notion for months now and am pretty happy with it. The downsides as opposed to Todoist are a thing, but I can live with it. What I really want to know though, is how your English is so good. I’m planning on a video on creating a complete Notion productivity system, but my English is not nearly as fluent as yours as my native language is Dutch too 😉
Nice! Love to see someone else who also accepts the downsides of Notion opposed to todoist hahaha, I feel like certainly not everyone feels that way 😅 and on the language topic, my main “trick” is speaking english A LOT haha. I started creating content and live streaming 2.5 years ago and my project management job is also mainly in english. In the beginning I struggled quite a lot and stumbled over my words. I also spoke with an accent and my voice would go up at a much higher pitch when speaking English. But the more I did it the more comfortable I got, the more I “lost” my accent (because I still have it a bit) and the easier it was to speak in my normal relaxing speaking voice! Like we would say in Dutch “Gewoon heel veel meters maken” 😜
I'm a software developer, and I use notion to stay organised on my personal projects but bloody hell its easy to add complexity all by yourself without the help of notion😂
What exactly do you mean? That it’s easy to to make complex processes without using notion or that notion makes it easier to document/use complex processes?
@@ExtraTxt That it's easy in notion to keep adding layers, especially when working on a big project that it can get out of hand and get complicated really fast. At least in my experience
@@brandonzane519 Oh like that, absolutely!! Something I notice is that it's a balance between trying to let the system support you vs making a system that takes more time to build and maintain than that you can use it. I feel like I'm still finding my balance with that for sure. I think in terms of tasks I managed to find something that works but there are still things that are not 100% working correct
The recurring tasks not being easy to set up in Notion was also a drawback for me. I will try the button to automate this. Great idea, thank you! Now if Notion could only make Notion more mobile-friendly. 😂
That would be soooo nice!! In my full notion tour I do show how I made mobile specific dashboards/pages which already helped A LOT with using it on mobile!! But I agree, they have a lot of room to improve still 😅
Yes! I agree with @paulywalnutz5855 on this one!! They can still add some small features to make it even better (like seeing your calendar within your notion, being able to give custom colors to your appointment etc) but mainly small things!! I really like it!
Oooh interesting! I had never heard of Coda before. I just looked it up and it seems to be a solution that is great for teams. Since I mostly work as an individual rather than in a collaborative workspace I wonder how it would be used as an individual. But thank you for sharing, I will defintely keep this one in mind for potentially my project management job!

Have you seen the new notion calendar? How are you liking it? Can it replace google calendar?
best part is you can easily integrate your google calendar. its a better calendar than google cal aesthetically and functionally

I use an app caled motion. Its AI. Plans my day for me.
I’ve looked into motion a couple of times but for me it doesn’t work at all, but it’s nice that it works for you!! ☺️
Your notion looks to messy for me ngl. Prefer todoist.
That is fine, to each their own :)
