Thank you SO much for all the hospital bag suggestions you've given me on RUclips, Facebook, and IG!
A few common recommendations are chapstick (I never leave the house without it!) and lanolin nipple cream, which I forgot to mention is in my little makeup tote!
Can't wait to put all of this to use!!
    xoxo

Brad and Rach I think you packed great . Plus due to the fact you don’t know how long you will be there. Thank you for sharing to give me an idea what to pack for my twins. I’m used to packing for one baby but twins I’m so lost lol.
      Great video !!!

Brad and Rach I think yuuuii packed great! my only thing is don't use the red can of dermoplast (sorry of misspelled) use the blue can! I made the mistake because tthe store was out of the blue and the red hurt... besides that I'm so excited for you!

PUMPING BRA! LOL I can't stress this enough. I didn't take it because i didn't think i would be pumping at the hospital. It was a lifesaver and made it so i could catch up on my texts and messenger while I was pumping

From a labor & delivery nurse: FANTASTIC!!! If I could've hand written a list for things to definitely pack, you nailed it!! Just a few suggestions...a ziploc bag or storage bag for jewelry (if you do end up having a c-section, you'll need to remove all metal), bring your own pillows for after delivery (ours are awful!) and most importantly...towels!!! The hospital I work at has towels that are literally the size of dish towels. I don't know what on earth you can dry with them LOL. The depends are awesome, you'll love them. At my hospital, we provide the witch hazel pads and dermoplast, so you may not need to use your own :-) I would recommend bringing the Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple balm for nursing, it works so much better than the lanolin that we provide. I can't wait for your delivery video!!

I have been a postpartum nurse for 10+ years and I thought of a few things u might add. Mother’s Love cream (on amazon, much better than lanolin), sound machine or stuffed animal that makes womb sounds (put next to crib to calm one while u are tending to the other one!), soft comfy blanket for you in bed to snuggle with and provide privacy when someone comes in your room, like room service!, and hats for babies. Can’t wait to see how your delivery goes! Good luck!

Since I went early I was just throwing things in a suitcase lol. What I needed was slippers or socks with tread, big towels for taking showers, chap stick, glasses cleaner deodorant, phone chargers, snacks and drinks for my husband, a pillow and blanket for my husband, preemie outfits and a couple of sweatpant outfits for me and my husband. I only wore a sports bra that had straps that unhooked in the front during labor and it was perfect. Also I brought my own heating pad for during labor and that was a life saver because I had all back labor.

Great stuff. I was the same and a twin birth is so unknown. I wouldn’t bring the big nursing pillow. The hospital beds make it super awkward to use. I had wished I had a regular nursing pillow while we were there. Actually, I found tandem feeding to be really hard since breast feeding is such a learning process for both mama and babies so it helped to have a single pillow in the long run, too. Also, a tip one of my subscribers gave when I packed my bags was to pack a smaller bag of the “extras” and leave it in the car. Brad can always run out to go grab it. It was very helpful. Bring little hats for them. Even in the hospital they tell you to keep their heads covered. Nipple cream! Lots of nipple cream! Bring a small notebook to jot down times of all the feedings, diaper changes, poops. It’ll help so much once your home, too. I thought keeping two books would make sense but I stuck to a small one that I carried with me everywhere for the first 9 months and just wrote the initial and what was done. You’re going to be exhausted and it’s hard to remember who fed when and on what side and what bodily functions they’ve performed during the day. Plus it’ll help brad and you to keep track of each baby since someone is bound to forget. You feed, brad burps and changes. It’ll help! He’s so much like my hubby (yay us!) that I know he’d most likely do it anyway but those first few months of nursing is hard and time consuming. If you have any questions about nursing please feel free to ask! You’ve got this! 🙌🏼

As a mom to four and boy and girl twins, everything you packed is great. In my opinion you can never have to much, better to bring just in case you need it. The only thing I would recommend is Vaseline, I found that the hospitals are so dry that the inside of your nose will get dry and feel like it’s stuffed making breathing difficult use the Vaseline to put some on the inside to keep your nose moist, it will really help and make breathing much easier! Good luck and enjoy the babies they grow so fast my girl and boy twins are 20 now and it just feels like yesterday they were babies, enjoy and savor every minute, it’s over in what seems like a blink!

Always makes a “depends “ when I was in labor I asked my mom to please go buy me some depends and she brought back these always boutique for bladder leakage. They are amazing . They’ve worked wonderfully for me . I’m almost 3 weeks postpartum and still wearing them . They are comfortable . As far as your bag goes I wish I would of thought about all that stuff . I was 39 weeks and 3 days when My water broke and didn’t have a bag packed at all . I’m such a procrastinator. So at midnight when my water broke my husband just threw a bunch of random stuff in the bag and ended up having to go back home after I delivered because none of those clothes he packed for our baby fit him , and I also needed more clothes . You’ve thought of basically everything . I love it !

The only thing I would suggest is an extra bag of the babies clothes that can stay in the car just in case. My boys were born at almost 38 weeks and still had NICU time. As soon as I was allowed to I wanted to go right to them and my husband and I didn’t want to leave them. Since I only packed two outfits each they ended up wearing hospital clothes which I personally wished I would have packed an extra bag for them..Like extra socks, hand mittens, hats, and onesies just so they could wear their own stuff instead of all the hospital clothes. I know some people don’t mind but it is just my experience so I thought I would share!
And you didn’t overpack!! It’s always best to be over prepared. 😊 can’t wait to see their adorable little faces!! You are doing an amazing job baking those babies mama!!

When I had my daughter. I had a bad tear...the hospital showed me a trick that works great. U use the derma spray on the "area" then line ur pad with the tucks pads. And use it that way it provides a cooling comfort that I really can't describe. And as far as ur bag ...u go girl!! U need to be comfortable and have ur favorites with u. The only thing I would add is maybe a natural nipple cream sorry I can't remember what I used but I'm sure u can find it on the internet. Good luck to u and Brad I love ur blog and can't wait to meet the babies! Hugs and love from Missouri.

On the topic of discomfort after a vaginal delivery a pudendal block is amazing! I've had two deliveries both without an epidural but only had the block with one. The difference was amazing. I would recommend anyone having a vaginal delivery get one. Also snacks for your nurses are always greatly appreciated.

I can’t wait to see the babies 😍

Your bag looks good. My suggestions... calming music ponytail holders phone charger batteries your own pillowcase... because hospital pillow cases feel like they are made out of cardboard
some kind of mint or hard candy you like with all the people up close mints are a very good thing a pad and paper to write your feelings after everyone is gone or to write down notes on your care that you would probably forget otherwise. The new momma fatigue set in quickly for me. Oh and when I had my kids I used photos of my older kids husband pets and favorite memories as focal objects and it really helped me go somewhere else while I was hurting and served as a good distraction. If I were to offer any advice it would be find pictures of things and people you love make high quality prints put a favorite or two in a frame and put them near you. Give the rest to Brad. When he sees you struggle or hurt let him show you those. It helps redirect you. I used mine to get through labor exams and recovery. I hope the best for your family. ❤️

I gave birth to my baby boy 3 weeks ago! 9 lbs 10 oz, 8 hour labour and only 30 mins pushing, everything went great! I will say I hardly used anything I packed in my bag because the hospital provides so much, they also provided me tucks and the dermoplast spray as well as pads and mesh underwear, diapers and wipes and blankets and onsies for baby, as well as nipple cream and diaper rash cream, I was amazed with how much they provided, and pacifiers as well. The only things I really used was my face mask, phone charger, pajama and robe, toothbrush and paste and soap/face wash. Good luck ur so close!

Currently packing my bag for baby #3 and I'm still an over packer. Believe me it's better to have it then to not. The one thing I'd also suggest is ear buds for music. In the beginning stages of labor music kind of helps not focus of the pain. The depend route was not that great for me it was quite messy. Honestly the mesh undies and giant pads they give you worked the best for the first 2 days. And for the littles I'd definitely put little hats in if not the hospital will have them wear there's the entire time because their head has to stay warm. Nipple butter is a great thing to add in your bag also. You did great with taking extra outfits though because you'd be surprised with the amount of blow outs that can happen! Oh and FYI the little sleep gowns for baby makes night changing SO much easier then onesies. Congrats mama! Can't wait to see the little cuties :)

Everything looks great! There was a big difference from my first baby and my 2nd baby and what the hospital supplied. When I had my first baby they gave us and had a ton of stuff for us including different paci's. When I had my 2nd baby they didn't supply hardly anything and didn't even have pacifier options since our 2nd one wasn't wanting the ones we had brought. I am with you bring what you need and if you need it great if not it will just go home with you. Just a small tip though. Don't bring in all of your stuff right away just bring the essentials (pillow, snacks, etc). Because you will most likely be moving rooms from a delivery room to a recovery room/ mother baby room and that way when you get in recovery/mother baby room you can bring it all out of the car to your room instead of having all the stuff being with you and trying to keep up with it and shuffled around from one room to the other room. We learned that from our first to our 2nd. :) I can't believe you are so close to having these babies!!!

I think you’re super smart and prepared!!! While hospital may have some of that stuff, it will just be a bonus cuz then you can save yours for when you go home! But some hospitals run out of things so if they do, you won’t have to worry! Not only are you a first time Mom, you’re having TWO! We are having Baby #4 and our last, and I say you’re smart for being prepared how you are and who cares what anyone else thinks! This is YOUR birth and whatever makes you feel better about it, you get to do! :)
You always have the option of only bringing in your bag when you check in, and then Brad can get his bag a little later since he won’t need it right off the bat. And the babies bag can come in after they’re born! Then it won’t seem like so much right when you check in hahaha - just an idea :)
I’m SO excited you’re getting so close!!!!! Yay!!!
I didn’t know you could buy your own hospital gown, I’m doing that right - now! Haha I want my own!
And yes - your own lotion! Their soap and water dry the skin out a LOT, and their lotion there just plain sucks lol.
Smart, prepared couple is what you guys are 💝💝💝

You can never have too much! You just don't know what you will use and what you won't so it is better to have extra than not enough! I completely forgot my meticulously packed bag because my husband and I were just so excited about my son being born. Lol. I ended up literally having NOTHING at the hospital but was pleasantly surprised that most everything was provided for me. It would have been nice to have my own stuff though. I ended up with an emergency C-section after my son got stuck and was just not prepared for that at all so that is a great idea being prepared for both possible deliveries (vaginal or csection).

Thanks for sharing what's in your hospital bag. I packed the same as you did lol to me you can never have too much I've always been the kind of person that was over prepared it just makes me feel more comfortable. The only things I'm bringing are two towels from home the hospital towels suck very rough & small... I was just in the hospital last week having contractions and then release 3 days later so we kinda of got a dry run. I'm also bring a plastic file for the boys important papers we will most likely get. We are bringing 2 boppy pillows for our twins . Oh and I did wear my own hospital gown it was so worth it because it made me feel better knowing it's mine and plus it made me feel pretty . I just order another for back up since I'm having a schedule C-section.

Dermaplast is a lifesaver!!! I didn’t have it before but the hospital gave it to me and even an extra can to take home...they also gave me 2 things of tucks pads, the huge pads that they have (which you will need the first couple of days, but the depends pretty much look the same minus the underwear to hold it up part, so good idea)and the mesh underwear which I thought were comfortable and wore while I was there. I brought my own period underwear (I got on amazon, I absolutely love them) which I wore home with one of the hospitals giant pads. Make sure to take chapstick, all the breathing and not being able to drink a ton of water really dries them out. Oh and I had my boppy nursing pillow in the car but didn’t end up taking it up because when it came time they just gave me a million pillows and set me all up for nursing, which was easy and comfortable. I don’t think your giant pillow will even fit with you in the bed haha might be more of a hassle then helpful at the hospital. Oh also my hospital didn’t have pacifiers so good call on that if you want to use them!
I was the same way and tried to pack light but took everything I thought I would need so I knew I over packed but in reality I used almost everything!
If I think of anything else I will definitely comment again haha
I’m so excited for you, when the bag is packed that’s when it feels even more real haha thankfully I packed mine early too because I went into labor at 37weeks and 6days. Oh and if Brad is anything like my boyfriend make sure he packs already, I kept telling him put your stuff in the bag please and of course it came time to go to the hospital and he had to quickly throw his stuff in since he didn’t listen to me! Lol

A thought may be to buy a new pillow for home, take your old one and when you leave the hospital throw old one out. You could always buy a cheaper one for the hospital. I did this during my last hospital stay, there are so many germs in a hospital. Unless maybe you wash your pillows. Im weird about those things, only making a suggestion. Looking forward to seeing the babies. 😊

Long charger cords. I feel the the few outlets In the rooms are never in a convient spot! I’m a person who likes to be prepared as well. I even bring a fan and keep it in the car in case they don’t have one because I can’t sleep without it. Unless you really need the nipple shield hold off on using it. They can hinder milk supply. If you don’t have some nipple cream a tube of that would be good to bring too. My breast fed babies all needed pacifiers in the hospital and it never hurt their latch. Good luck I’m super excited for you!

That belly binder is the cats meow!!!! I had two csections. My first was frank breach and i had the super cheap one. My second was 42 weeks and didnt come on his own and i bought the expensive ones. I tossed it and used the cheap one. I would have used the binder over the medication!!!! Love their outfits!!!

You’re so cute 😂 I definitely overpacked with my first baby and then barely packed with my next two because I didn’t want to have to put everything away 😂 a lot of the things you packed are already at the hospital but it’s a learning experience and if you two decide to grow your family then you’ll know exactly what you need next time. Congratulations and I hope your labor or c section goes smoothly. I’ve had both if you ever have any questions.

I’ve got 3 boys and our baby girl is due in Feb. I packed just as you have for all 3 and will continue to with our 4th. I don’t think you’ve over packed, just prepared. I actually never thought about using depends, but I definitely will this time around. Definitely take some chap stick, during all my labors chap stick was a must, just something about trying to focus on the situation at hand with very dry lips didn’t mix well. I love your channel!!!

Yay for dermaplast and tucks (I was told to get the blue not the red but I'm not sure of the difference) - I knew nothing about post partum care and was so glad the hospital had the numbing spray and tucks pads ... I had to go to the pharmacy after and buy them and I remember walking down the aisle in tears bc I was in so much pain so even if your hospital offers it at least you'll have more. I needed it for a month PP. I think you did perfect. I'd bring DVDs or a laptop nights can be long especially bc I had a hard time sleeping in the hospital but the baby would be asleep. My babe ended up in the nursery for a week after DVDs and a laptop for Netflix was a lifesaver. I didn't use my nightgown I voted for sweatpants bc I felt more comfortable with all my undergarments- depends, ice pack, etc under pants and didn't have to worry about being lady like in a nightgown. It's sore in between there so I'd bring a pair or yoga pants or something too. Yay for food my mom packed that and I was so grateful for hummus and pita when I finally gave birth at 4 in the morning. Looks like you have it all! I didn't get hermroids either and the tucks pads were still awesome for sweet relief and you'll love the peri bottle. They have some on Amazon that have better nozzles and for my next birth I'm totally buying it. Something to consider even though the one at the hospital worked great and I also loved having a blanket for myself from home there for after bc hospital blankets can very scratchy

Return the red dermoplast and get the blue one! The red burns because it's antibacterial! The blue is more soothing.
I'm glad I packed so much because i was in labor for 24 hours and stayed for an extra day because my daughter wouldn't nurse as often as she should have been and i refused to give her formula. I was there from Tuesday morning until Friday afternoon.

My son never had any issue with breastfeeding and a pacifier. It's always better be be overpacked then underpacked! Definitely bring your own pillow! One thing I would pack for the babies are scratch mittens because they come out with such long nails. My son had scratched his face before he was a hr old before I could even get them out of my bag. I ended up having a c section. The hospital gave me a brace thing similar to the one you have bought. I think depends would have been a life saver after delivery. You bleed so much and it goes up areas you never knew it could lol. The overnights will be great for when you get home. I also really enjoyed the boppy pillow while I was in the hospital. Also my hospital didn't mind me wearing my nursing bra under my gown the entire time I was there so that was a plus! I didn't feel like my boobs were hanging all out lol.

OMG the snack box! I never would have thought of that! I remember how much money we spent in just snacks in 3 days. That is seriously a fantastic idea Rach!!!! LOL about Brad's 3 N 1, our son likes it better then what us girls use. You know even if you don't use everything you bring at least you have it incase. The best thing we did, was the day before we were discharged, he took all the extra stuff home and I kept only what the baby and I needed for the rest of the night/day.

I just had my daughter on Dec. 7th, and I loved my depends! Especially since I couldn’t hold my bladder very well and wasn’t always able to get to the bathroom on time. 😅 I’m not sure about your hospital, but my room was freezing. So we took some extra throw blankets and pillows so we’d be comfy. ☺️

Great job Rach! Nothing feels worse than not having what you need, or want for that matter, when you are stuck in a hospital! Just one thing I thought of....a lactation consultant at the hospital can fit you for nipple shields of you want them. You need to make sure they are your size or else they will do more harm than good. ♥️♥️

I like to bring soft socks with the stickers on the bottom. And coconut oil. I use it on baby and me and I put it right on my c section line mixed with lavender essential oil and that helped so much.

Hey guys. Being that they’ll be on the small side, have you thought about a little hat? Lip balm for yourself is a must. The air in hospitals can be very drying x also a couple of top tips I found after having s c-section with my twins, stand straight asap. Sounds daunting but really helps in the long run. Also, if you wear your own underwear & that the incision sticks, use a sanitary towel. Stick it on the inside of your knickers so the absorbent side acts as a plaster x

The only thing I can see you might have forgotten is some Lanolin ointment for the in between feedings. It helps your nipples heal from the initial feedings they can become cracked or even bleed the lanolin helps with the pain and the heal :) Congratulations and good luck can’t wait to see those precious babies 👶 👶

  • @marisasmith3192

    Wow! You are prepared!
I would actually recommend one or two things more - premier hats. Believe or not the newborns are huge. In place of mittens little shirts with fold over sleeve/cuffs. Onesie are awkward the first coupon days. And last but not least your own pillow and towel.
Just as a suggestion for breastfeeding - don’t bring the shield. Sometimes as a last ditch to get a latch, yes you’ll need a shield but it can take MONTHS to wean the baby off it once they’ve become adjusted. There’s nothing worse then searching for a shield in the middle of the night with a hungry baby. (Vented advise from a mom whose L&D nurse jumped on the shield train too quickly and frustrated Mom whose baby took 4 months to wean off) ha!!
Praying for a successful delivery and healthy babies and momma.

CHAPSTICK!!!!!! That's the thing I used most! Hospital air is sooo dry!!! Also I was surprised that you are using disposable pads. You should look into reusables for yourself as well! I used disposable with my first and reusable with my second and I wouldn't every go back to disposable menstrual products. Worth looking into! 😊 overall I don't think you packed too much for your first go around! Good luck mama!!!

I just had my baby on Tuesday and I definitely overpacked. The only things I used were my hygiene products, a big t-shirt & sweatpants to go home in, an extension cord for my phone charger, Chapstick, & extra blankets and my own pillow. For the baby i just used one outfit to bring him home in, mittens, & socks. My hospital provided swaddles, diapers, wipes, blankets, underwear (which I really liked), pads (which were super thick, but you need that right after delivery) & the dermaplast. We ended up getting 3 of those big water cups which are awesome ahah. Bring Chapstick!

AWESOME BAG! Love the snack pack... never even thought of that... Brilliant! I never had depends either.. so smart! You don't want anything even near the c-section. Glad you are planning the hemorrhoids... ugh! Hoping not though! Find out if your hospital has a baby photographer. Around here they come by the maternity ward every couple days and the fee is worth it. Make sure to make them call him/her to let them know you want it when you have babes. Bring a couple cute outfits if they do. I hope you're one of those moms that can wear your small clothes coming home... I WAS NOT! Bring an outfit and shoes for that. I'M SO EXCITED!!! How many extended grandma's are the kids allowed... I'm totally applying for that position. ;)
