Razer Basilisk v2 vs Logitech G502 Hero

- The Basilisk went on sale for Prime Day (from Best Buy ironically), so I finally was able to test it out. I thought this would be the answer to Logitech's double click problems, and it'd be a clean switch since everyone calls them the same mouse. Unfortunately, nothing seems to go my way with tech.
Here are Bestbuy and Amazon links to the two mouse if you want to try them out for yourself:

Update: My G502 just died after almost 2 years of use.
I'm luckily barely within the warranty window, but I'm definitely choosing optical switches the next time I have to spend money.
Note: Logitech's website sucks, and you'll have much better luck going through their live chat to process the RMA.
rip
Thanks for the help man, Ive used the original basilisk since it has come out and my right click is failing and I wanted that Same feel. Was a good video and thanks for help!
Rip. I'm not too sure of the differences between the OG Basilisk and the v2 but they do look slightly different in shape. Hope you find something you like!
@@SomethingAzn I got the Basilisk v2 and I like doing kick flips with my mouse during games to use throwables!
@@Austin-Stein 😂 i guess it really was designed for pro gamers
Both are good. Own both. The Logitech is far more durable lol the basilisk lost some of the rubber already lol , but feels really great on my hand. The Logitech has a lower bump but the buttons are easier to access since the way It was designed , basilisk extra buttons are not all at the same comfortable distance without modifying my grip. That being said the razer software had in the past game me BSODs until I uninstalled it. (May be a MSI MB issue ( Gen 4) on my other machines it runs well. Have not tried the latest iteration of the software. May try it later. Logitech software never game me that much trouble lol both are excellent devices for different hand grips/sizes.
Good video, thanks :)
I wanted the g502 but settled on the basilisk v2 lol. I like it alot but I still plan on getting other mice
So can you not use side mouseheel buttons for key kinds in games?
@SomthingAzn I think I like the razor mouse more as it seems to just be an updated version of the g502, the only thing holding me back from getting the razor mouse is the fact that it dose not have the 2 side buttons next the the left click. I feel like if I am going for suck a big mouse I want the advantages of having lots of programmable buttons. Also a question can you program the side mouseheel clicks to other keys that games will recognize so you can use them or are they stuck only for side scrolling use?
Yeah, if I were to get a new mouse, I’d probably get the v3 as it seems to have fixed most of the complaints I had with the v2
And yes, you can reprogram the side scroll buttons on the G502. I think you can reprogram every button except the left click 😁
Except none of your functions work unless your system is always running the buggy, bloated synapse. The intentionally left on-board memory off the mouse to force the end user to run their corporate spyware to take advantage of any of it's features beyond just being a mouse. Logitech stores 3 different profiles on board so once you're setup, you can plug it into any machine and still have all the functions you paid for. Shady corporate trickery.
I appreciate the research
You’re welcome! Hope it helps! 😁
The g502 shape gave me some cramps, although i finally got used to it, though i think the lower back would be better for me
Your channel is underrated
great job
yes a bump sounds great, glad i ordered the basilisk, i almost feel like i lose grip because there is no connection between my palm and my hand while using the g502
Good call! Especially with the v3 out
Thanks for the great review but I am a G502 user past year and moved to razer. I feel better comfort using the razer basilisk over G502 because the bump you mentioned. and size wise even though it seems same, basilisk is smaller but have a more curved shape so that I can rest my hand on the device. this may be different because Im using mice for productive works as I am a motion designer, and the adjustable wheel resistance works for be because it is adjustable for liking. when I am gaming I mostly use it high resist so that there is a tactical feedback when the weapons are changing, and for productive use, I low the resistance to middle level because I scroll a lot. it is very personalized. also the clutch key is bit away on the G502 even G402 has a longer clutch, razer basilisk clutch button is on the place for me. I don't have to put extra effort for the clutch. this is very personal opinion though because everything I said can be different with your finger length. my fingers are bit short and I use palm grip. hope you guys get some honest insight. thank you for sharing these anyway. keep creating. I would love to feature if you need some feedbacks from a long term user. thank you
Thanks for the information! Yeah, mouse are very preference/hand based so it’s good to hear from more perspectives 😄
Man you are in luck, V3 is out :D
Interesting videos
Will you compare the v3 to the g502 because the v3 has the infinite scroll wheel?
They released a v3 already?!
@@SomethingAzn yep
@@gdbros_35 That’s kinda crazy. This is probably the mouse with the most revisions out there
@@SomethingAzn deathadder?
@@gdbros_35 😂 i guess you’re right with all the special editions out there.
i might just get the basilisk because my g502 hero has been fucking up alot... the left click sometimes double clicks and my right click doesn't even work half the time
Dude, if you have the money and really like the G502, you should look into the Basilisk v3. My G502 just died after about 2 years. I'm luckily in the warranty still, but I'm definitely going optical switches if I have to buy something again.
@@SomethingAzn yeah i just did some research and looked up a bunch of threads about the g502 vs razer basilisk. i just purchased a razer basilisk v3 a couple minutes ago. hope it performs well or even better than the g502.
a friend gifted me the g502 hero and i’ve been hooked on it ever since lol. but i’ve seen way too many reviews complaining about its left and right clicks so now im just looking for a better alternative tbh. not trying to buy another mouse thats gonna mess me up in game.
same i just bought a basilk rn
@@Fluskar How is your experience with basilisk v3?
@@daikoon5672 been using it as my daily mouse and no issues so far. feels slightly different from the g502 hero though, like its a bit more textured while the g502 hero felt more smooth. also on the g502 hero i could comfortably use palm grip on it but on the basilisk i had adjust to a fingertip grip. maybe thats just a me issue but yeah.
In our time form its most important. All mouse 40+ usd have amazing sensors. 92 it’s perfect weight. But v2 has to low right button. Its make it uncomfortable to someone.
Oh yeah, for sure. Sensors are all pretty much equal at this price. Form is very much based on preference
I was actually one of the people who asked for an adjustable scroll wheel because I use the same mouse for office work and content creation. I hate stiff mouse wheels for casual work.
Oh yeah, I can definitely see where you're coming from. Would logitech's infinite scroll toggle not work for you? I feel like having to scroll through resistances everyday on the basilisk would be a pain
@@SomethingAzn It works okish for me on my G903 but its rather difficult to "stop" it at the right moment. I really like the totally loose wheel of my Logitech M500 :D
@@cptcrogge Ah, makes sense. I had no idea there was such a preference for different scroll wheels
I want to buy G502 but I'm really scared of double clicking issues and I don't want to buy another G502 every year just to get rid of double clicking
I think there's a two year warranty if that helps at all. Their website was a bit hard to use, but I eventually did get a replacement, for a different issue though.
If it brokes find a local shop that replace mouse clickers i know theres one😁
If you're handy with a soldering iron and got some spare switches lying around it shouldn't take you that long to replace them. Plus i've heard from many people that just blowing into the switches from the side or the front fixes it. Idk how, but it somehow works...
U have 3 years warranty
@@leksdex5682 Where'd you see 3 years? I only saw 2 and that extra year would really help as I'm approaching my 2 year mark, and the double click is slowly coming back.
For me the Razer just fit in my palm much better, I really don't like the scroll wheel of the G502, I really really like the logitech sensor but the form of the mouse is not for me. Logi sensor is miles away, I'm not a fan of either but I stayed with razer for the shape and scroll.
The logitech 502 build quality seems much more durable to me. In my experience Razer mice break much sooner. I have heavily used my Logitech for years now and it is unbreakable. It just works... always... no matter how bad I treat it during gaming.
In general I think the G502 is the best mouse I ever had, and I have had many, many mice.
There is room for improvement: I would have liked a pinky rest ridge at the right side of the mouse, and perhaps a LED lit scroll wheel.
Yeah, I was really happy my G502 as well until it started double clicking which got me looking for alternatives.
@@SomethingAzn
I understand. I am thinking about a change myself, that is how I arrived at your channel :).
I just can not find a mouse that can compete with the 502.
I think I will upgrade my old 502 Proteus to the 502 Hero.
@@andreasplosky8516 Ah, good choice. I'm waiting for either the G502 wireless to go on sale, or for them to release an optical version
@@SomethingAzn yep, i have an orochi v2 for competitive gaming and for productivity or for more relaxed game im looking for either a basilisk or a g502. the g502 is 20$ less but seems more durable, but the basilisk v2 looks alot better imo and could fit my purple rgb setup alot better but i wouldnt mind not having as much rgb. the main thing for me is the optical switches. and then lastly i count the basilisk hyperspeed because i rly like how my orochi is wireless and im worried to experience cable drag again and still want a mouse that will last more than a month on its own. anyways these 3 mice are just a big dilemma for me
@@ripewatermelonlol I’m currently using the Basilisk X hyperspeed (the cheaper version) for anything that doesn’t require extra buttons simply because it’s wireless. I don’t think you’d see much of an improvement over the Orochi unless you really want the different shape.
I switch to the G502 for gaming (unless it’s fps), but in a Basilisk v2 vs G502 situation, the v2 might be better for you if you’re already in the Razer system and come from lighter mice.
Great vid, try and talk more clearly next time:)
Always went with razer. never had a product die yet. other than me spilling a drink on my razer naga 2014 rip
😂
Maaan we used mouse for years and they didn't have double clicks issue. What happened with those f**ng manufacturers?
Apparently it’s a design spec with the switches that companies are ignoring, but there must be too much profit to use a new switch
@@SomethingAzn nope. This is chinese Omrons, simplified and cheap version of japanese Omrons.
Sorry but, I can't understand you speak wayttoo fast
😂 I’ll add subtitles!
Change playback speed
Who actually uses the infinity scroll
It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until it’s gone
Logitech switches suck but the profile switching and spin are must haves.
So Who si better?
I like the G502 more in everything except for the weight, so Basilisk is better if weight is super important to you
@@SomethingAzn thank you because i ha e a basiliks but i don’t know chance it for logitech g502
@@zeyrox5884 Hey, if you like it that's all that matters. Mice are very based on preference
Razer has the better sensor and the better mouse switches
True
LOGITECH for ergonomics
I absolutely hate the basilisk v2. I used a g502 spectrum for 5 years and loved it. The basilisk is SHADY as hell. They built the thing with no on-board memory (unlike the logitech). This means if you aren't running razers bloated corporate spyware ALL THE TIME; you're macros, all lighting, and dps settings are all non functional. With the logitech I can pick it up and play on any random system and have access to my settings because they're stored on the mouse. With the razer you must always be connected to their umbilical. It's a way to manipulate the customer into HAVING to run their super buggy software to use any of the mouses features. Many game crashes are attributed to synapse. Shady pool......
😂 I barely touched the razer software, but I’m glad I left early after hearing your experience
Should've compared the V3 at least lol
Oh yeah, if it goes on sale, I’mma cop 👌
Razer’s just a bootleg Logitech rip off.
😂
