Viking is great for a huge Utility market but Skidoo and others have a modern version of this so the Price must be much lower to compete.. Older simpler technology is not always bad I had a neighbor who had a 1960's Johnson with two speeds and reverse .. He pulled his dark house with it onto the Lake .. and rode out to go fishing every day when he was 80 years old ..
Awesome job remodeling the vk. So what's next a new phaser mtx chassis bravo type sled. That's my next mod for My 07 phaser fx. Mtx skid n track with wide skies and a rear carrier off a bravo trapper. Should be a great trapping n fishing rig.
How about two versions of the ?SRX one exactly as it was to use in vintage racing.. and one with modern front suspension for more modern day ice racing classes..
+Anton laula Yamaha only sold 7000 units total this year and the viper was already available with a turbo there simply isn't a big market for lake racers anymore
+440x The Viper turbo package actually costs more than the new SW. Plus the SW is way more sophisticated in engine and turbo system design. There is a good crop of brand X riders namely the SKi Doo 1200 guys that want a Mach Z 1200 turbo and I can see some of these people switching to the SW or the Tcat. This sled is more than a lake racer too. Setup with the Fox QS3 shock package they ride pretty darn good. Cat has made a lot of strides in ride and handling in general with the ProCross chassis.
That's been somewhat rectified on the 2019 VK's,they said that was part of the new engineering up grade,supposed to prevent finer snow and ice from icing things up.New Carb heater and 2" higher seat height.
The big question is,how long before the VK build is eliminated from JAPAN?YAMAHA is now in bed with ARCTIC CAT and the VK will probably not be built in japan anymore.Will the American build quality still be there?I see arctic cat now has the bearcat XT which is a vk in disquise.
I bought a 2017, great sled but incredibly difficult to start in cold temperatures and the cargo rack is too small. Not sure if I would buy one again if I were in the market for a wood hauling sled.
Here in Sweden the VK540 never left. It has been on our market from 1988 and to date.
Awesome ! Bring back the old school sleds. Not all of us want to ride a motorcycle style sled on snow.

The vk540 is the cockroach of sleds, kinda ugly,hasn't changed in years,won't die and lives for ever.
I wish they still made the Bravo. so cheap and one of the best
