Hey Josh. Native Detroiter here. Yes Boston Edison is still a nice historic part of Detroit. But I think that car was used by Boston Mass. Edison power company. Our electrical company used to be called Detroit Edison-it's now called DTE. The spotlight and 2 way radio probably made it a supervisors car. Just FYI, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were good friends. Henry Ford actually worked for Edison before he started building cars.
I'm a native Detroiter as well, my brother was a caretaker of a beautiful mansion on Boston St. They had a security patrol but they drove simulated police cars. The Ford mansion is incredible and was for sale last summer...
The yellow LTD was a security patrol car used under the Boston Edison Company, a state branch to make sure Power Plants within the state were following standards set by the government and to protect the grounds in which the plants operated on. Think “government auditors” paid through the state :)
What I love about your channel, your videos, aside from the entertainment, and the actual knowledge, is the family involvement, and interaction. Watching the kids dive in to a project, getting dirty, everyone having a good time.... It truly is a beautiful thing. Don't get me wrong, seeing the projects come to life, the effort, the trial and error, it's fantastic. But it's also incredibly family driven, family valued. Cheers Sleeperdude family, and many, many more years to come!
Hey Josh - I live just outside of Boston, MA. Boston Edison was the old power plant here. National Grid replaced Boston Edison but what I think you have is an old power plant car probably used to read meters around Boston neighborhoods and visiting power plants for maintenance etc. I remember seeing those wagons running around when I was younger. VERY COOL!!
Back in the 1980's (in my much younger days) I worked at a Mom and Pop owned restaurant. The owners drove the LTD Country Squire version of your wagon. A nice car, and with all the bells and whistles as far as accessories. I hope you get to checking if the engine turns over and you try to start and drive it. Sleeperdude, it is the mission of you and your family to save the station wagons that are left in this world, BEFORE THEY ARE GONE FOREVER!!
I think it was an old taxi cab. Back in the day it would do the airport run and you put your luggage in the back. Love to see how you guys work together as a team. Keep up the great work.
Same thing I was thinking. Stickers on the doors, spotlight, the numbers on the hood, and hatch, and the mandatory seat belt usage sticker on the dash. WAIT! See my comment above. I think it make even more sense.
I was gonna say the same thing. The sticker on the door, number on the front of the hood and the wire going up the tailgate and out the roof for the Taxi sign.
Boston Edison used to be the power company here in Boston, MA. It eventually merged with NSTAR and eventually Eversource. I’ll bet it was owned by that company. It would make sense that a utility company would use a spotlight for light poles and such. Also makes sense being sold in NH and VT.
My friend says Boston Edison was once the electric company, so it does makes sense that the car was once a fleet car own by the utility. If you can get the engine running without too much effort it may be a saver. Again another great, fun, video.
Josh buys and fixes the cars,Ralphie details the cars and is asst repairer,Tosh is the camera person,Wawa and Squeezie are the fill in people and all around cheerleaders.
Well I tell you what I'm pretty impressed with ralphie He's getting pretty smart on the cars he pretty much can tell you you know what he thinks it is and most of the time he's pretty much right so for a youngster he's doing good good time to start
Boston Edison is an electric utility company in the Boston area. Given the car had New England registration, it’s yellow, has a spotlight and is in relatively good condition, I would bet it was a utility supervisors car. But, I like your story better… keep up the good work.
@@deeperrelaxationandmeditat4841 I work for a utility and meter reader vehicles get beat up pretty bad. Driver seats get destroyed from all the in and out. Could of been an engineering or admin office pool car.

Great video Josh and family and great car, and i would love to see you get her going.Ya''ll are doing a great job keeping these gems from the crusher.God Bless!
My Grandfather had one of these smaller LTDs. It was actually the country Squire station wagon version of this model. A 3.8l v6 and automatic overdrive transmission. It was a very good car.
I bought an 86 LTD wagon in 1988 and we drove it for our family car for about 15 years. The only complaint I had was the 3.8 was prone to head gasket failure and I had to replace the gaskets at around 125,000 miles. The heads are aluminum and if they were ever overheated they would warp and couldn't be milled. Fortunately ours never was overheated and the heads were fine. My vote would be to get it running but keep an eye out for coolant in the oil.
Would love to see you git it running. As always I enjoy watching you bring back to life an old extinct vehicle. Put it back on the road. Actually I grew up riding in Station Wagons. So let's see it running by all means. You have a Wonderful family. Thanks. Can't wait to see the next vid. Hopefully this beautiful wagon up and running.
My family had an 83 wood paneled LTD wagon purchased new - total rattletrap malaise-era POS that died with only 80k miles. It was so bad that everyone in my family swore off Fords for life. I was relieved it died before I started driving - in its later life, it was handed down to my brother and he still affectionately remembers his high school days with the Truckster. That “pleather” burned bare skin in the summer and eventually developed sharp cracks that required caution. I hated that car, but it was fun to see this one being brought back from the dead. There are so few left.
Great episode 🎉 Boston Edison was an electric company in South Boston. Gone now 😢 . The previous owner probably bought it at auction . Love the Scooter! My sister has a dog just like him . Humphrey has killed rats 🐀!
I'd love to see you all get it running probably has a little bit of transmission issues or something probably nothing bad, and if the engine is Toast a nice 302 would fit with some dual exhaust 👍 I love how you all Chip in and work together, Hopefully underneath is in good condition Till next time my Friend's.
That’s amazing! Hard to believe that it was only ten years old when it was junked. And it’s crazy how it lasted for 28/29 years in that junkyard without being crushed before ya found it. And it’s a Miracle that it sat all that time without really getting torn up or having to many if any parts removed from it.
If you ever find a Chrysler Fifth Avenue Please save it from the junk yard! I would love to see you and your family fix one up! It would bring back so many good memories that I had when I was a teenager! Blessings to you and your family from Anniston Alabama!
I had an 1984 sedan with that 3.8l fi v6. Bought it as a retired railroad security car. 4 years old with 200k miles on it. My girl friend drove it till it had over 400k miles on it. I loved driving that car. It'd do 100 on the interstate all night long.
Watching you clean this car I just remembered when I had to clean my pontoon boat. Bass Pro has mold & mildew spray for baits and it is awesome. Cleaned that old black mold off those vinyl seats like crazy.
Hi from Rhode Island. I enjoy your videos and the closeness of your family. You are truly blessed. I was born and raised in Boston and saw the yellow cars and trucks my entire youth. Boston Edison was the local electric utility company providing service to homes and commercial businesses.
WOW! Looks great! One quick tip you may want to consider. This might be hard to do, so if it is, don't stress on it. Depending on how bad the carpets are with rat/mice urine and soil, you might want to research how to remove the seats etc., so you can remove and clean the floor of the vehicle under the carpet urine and other bacteria very well could still be stuck to the original frame of the car. Just a friendly suggestion.

As always, another great video Josh. As usual, looking forward to seeing the next video! Love the channel. Keep On Keeping On Brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Seeing the amount of crud getting flushed out from behind the mouldings reminded me of our 1982 Cougar wagon.Same thing every wash from new.
It’s crazy
Josh likes history so much hes puttin paint chips together to find out more history on that car,, Love that! ✌❤
Yep
Love the content and love u have for your family keep it up.....
I want to see it run! At least you'll have an extra engine. Maybe put a Godziller in it.
Hahahaha
That wagon is too good of shape to not finish getting her back on the road. Would love to see you get it running again.
Awesome thanks
Thank you for your APPRECIATION to your subscribers JOSH
That’s amazing! Hard to believe that it was only ten years old when it was junked. And it’s crazy how it lasted for 28/29 years in that junkyard without being crushed before ya found it. And it’s a Miracle that it sat all that time without really getting torn up or having to many if any parts removed from it.
I know right
That thing was prolly a ride for "Merry Maids" They drive yellow vehicles.
Looks like it might have been part of a taxi fleet.
a taxi cab,probably,so i think too
So does Pizza Ranch and CP Railroad and Yellow Taxi and Chucky Cheese ect……….
@@davekimbler2308 So basically it could be anybody.
@@danbytp 👍
If you ever find a Chrysler Fifth Avenue Please save it from the junk yard! I would love to see you and your family fix one up! It would bring back so many good memories that I had when I was a teenager! Blessings to you and your family from Anniston Alabama!
That would be cool I will keep an eye out
I had an 1984 sedan with that 3.8l fi v6. Bought it as a retired railroad security car. 4 years old with 200k miles on it. My girl friend drove it till it had over 400k miles on it. I loved driving that car. It'd do 100 on the interstate all night long.
I'm good on the vpn thing. I honestly feel bad for whoever goes through all the trouble of trying to steal my identity hoping for a come up.
I for one would love to see that beautiful bumble bee run!! 😊
Awesome thank you
53:26 pine needles make a perfect mouse outline ! lol

Watching you clean this car I just remembered when I had to clean my pontoon boat. Bass Pro has mold & mildew spray for baits and it is awesome. Cleaned that old black mold off those vinyl seats like crazy.
Exactly! Getting it running and road trip with the family!!!
It's fantastic your whole family is helping you with the car it is amazing you're a lucky lucky man
Thank you
Hi from Rhode Island.
