  • New York City is vast! It has a lot of forest! And these forests were not always forest. Some parts were inhabited by people and were reclaimed by nature. Today I meet up with Indiana Tones, Dogstar Blazer, The Detecting Zone, Diggin Turtle and a rookie detectorist to do some metal detecting. We use the NEW Nokta Makro Legend, the NEW XP Deus 2 and the incredible Minelab Equinox 800.

Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 16 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. I noticed from that monotone that you're probably in deep HC if you take deep HC and switch it into three tone put your tone break for the second tone at 78 instead of 72 this will help get rid of some of the aluminum trash and then set tone number three at 800 kilohertz or above to really sound out that high tone you'll have a much better time deciphering these good and bad targets combined with the ex-wife screen that could be a killer combo for deep hunting

That piece at 14:30 looks like a fitting from possibly a japanese style knife or sword, specifically the pommel, called a "Koshira". However, it doesn't appear to have any ornate patterns hammered or etched into it as they typically would have, or at least that I can see clearly but it seems there is "something" there. It's also possible it's the cap of a sheath, perhaps from an old military sword. Hard to tell tho as it seems kinda too small for a sword pommel so maybe a tanto pommel or the cap of a sheath(saya). Plus there's no vertical holes on each side for the silk wrapping to tie into. Worth considering tho! Great video!

Merrill, your by far my favorite RUclips creator. I’m a long time equinox user but I still learn something from your videos in all while getting a good laugh. I recently got the Deus2 also and was getting very frustrated with the learning curve but after the version .7 update and the “Mental Metal coin program’’ I have to say it’s a awesome machine! The first time I took it out with the new program I went to a school about five minutes from my house that I have pounded over the years in 90 minutes I pulled four rings a handful of nickels and a mercury dime the mental metal coin program is a must for Deus2 users in my opinion it’s a game changer. I would love to see you and Philip The Nox modify it and potentially make it even better.

Tom across the border into CT. It's on a well hiked Mountain Road and the local people in the neighboring towns hike it. Not sure of History of that particular part CT. Its Woodsy.

Merrill, I get it, work is (in my opinion) the most important part of a man's life. If a man does not do a good job at work, he may lose that job and then cannot support his family. Students want to learn, and if you teach to the very best of your ability, then you have done your community and your students, and the world, in fact, a great service. Metal detecting is only a hobby and comes in at best, a distant third on your priorities. I get it, I love to metal detect and today my last hole, a iffy signal, and I thought to myself, Merrill digs iffy signals if your NOX says it's deep. It was an 1918 dime about 8 inches deep. My only silver for the day, and I am happy.

hi merrill, i lived in an OLD house. 1916. one day i slammed the basement door(accidentally) and heard a loud crack and then a thump. i opened it back up and there lying on the first step down was part of the doorknob. guess what it was made of? NO!! go ahead, guess. terra cotta. red clay. whoda thunk it. so, that little round orb might be a drawer pull or a cabinet door pull. some of them were filled up on the inside w/ stuff that would be gone after 100+ years in the ground. so, plaster? maybe? i havent seen it at the end yet. maybe tomorrow. dog wants fed and to go out.

Hurricane Ian hit it and we just repaired the roof. It’s back on Airbnb now. Related to that new Honey Badger Scoops are being held up until January until all the repairs are made.
