Jeff Stevens You're welcome. Out of over 200 videos I've uploaded in 6 years I think this is my favorite and I knew *nothing* about the sport when I uploaded it! Maybe you can clear something up for me - I know Thorsen finished 1st and Elmer 3rd, but I could never make out in the audio who finished 2nd. Do you know who it was and what team he was on?

Dan O'Connor I will see what I can find. Do you have any other videos like this?

It is almost like they were cheating in those days with the chassis they developed. Did not take long for the others to figure it out though.

Neat film! It's to bad that Jerry Bunke was killed on Feb, 26/78 in Beausejour Manatoba, I grew up 30 miles from Beausejour in Lac du Bonnet and happend to be at that race. I'll never forget it, I was 14 at the time. R.I.P. Jerry Bunke.

It's great to see how his family is carried on the racing tradition for the bunkes

Nice. RUclips’s algorithm has me down. Love old film and vintage sleds. Have a 16mm Ski Doo safety film I would like to transfer and upload. Nice super 8 projector by the way. 👍🏼

Great information! Watching the video again I can hear it fairly clearly now that I know what name to listen for. Thanks!

Elsner would break the 10 year Team Arctic drought in’79! Was my favorite racer as he rose up from independent in the mid ‘70’s and from New London WI.

That projector reminds me of the old school. When the show was over someone has to thread the film and rewind the tape. My how times change.

This was about 2 years before a race car driver built some twin tracks

That's about my first trip there. The twin tracks dominated.
