Those were definitely the good ol’ days. Jim Dimmerman was my neighbor growing up. He was a pretty cool guy for being ten or twelve years older than me. Him and his brother Rick always had the coolest sleds and cycles.
The best era right there...I raced oval track back then from 77-80 with a 77 Blizzard 440 S/M but never made it to Eagle River just didn't have the $$$$ then and backup...Eagle River was a dream so watching this brings back great memories....I'm in the process of trying to track down a 77 Blizzard 440 S/M right now to restore but their not easy to find...my toughest sleds to run against were the Mercs and ZZ Arctic Cats and if I can find one of those I'll restore them also.
you prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Elliot Donald I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I was there in the mid 60's and watched Mike Trapp win with a Yamaha, the year before a bunch of enginers from Yamaha were there taking pictures of the factory machines which were all lined up by classs,at the time Yamaha never had a snowmobile, the following year they won it all, great times, was also there when a driver fell off his machine on the back straightaway and the machine when thru the fence and if I remember right killed a young boy at the end of the straightaway, many stories of our trips over there after wotk at a GM plant in Saginaw,Mich, one year it was so cold they didn't run the Hodag as the wind chill for the drivers would have been -100
The first sleds I ever owned that I bought with my own money were 3 old used Yami 433's 71-2-or 3, I can't remember. They were white with a thin red line on the chrome front bumper, 2 of the 3 had twin pipe's and were frighteningly fast! The other one would creep up to 85mph ish if you had a long enough runway. What was funny is only 2 of the three would run at a given day. And it wasn't the same 2 machine's, that's what was odd. When it was time to ride, I would just give each sled 5-10 yanks and would ride the first 2 that started..lol about 20yrs ago i drove past the empty lot that a acquaintance had to see if they were still parked there but were long gone, kind of a bummer..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
Cool old footage!! Too bad this type of racing (and drag) has taken a back seat to the current snow cross stuff where all the manufacturers put their funds. No more big factory teams, just independent racers with sponsors.
every one does what they do for their own reasons but why put loud music in a video like this? It over powered the interview of a man who has just done the biggest thing in his life. The sound of those machines is what you what to hear
@@linkbelt111 I have a buddy who raced for an Arctic Cat dealership out of Connecticut. He said they raced in a series in the Northeast. He raced against Yvonne Duhamel.
Nope . Suzuki engines in all Cat race sleds from 1976 on except for the 1976 Z250, that used a Kohler. Last AC that used a Kawasaki engine was the 1975 Z. Ex dealers kid here. Enjoy…

Checker flag 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁. Team Arctic.
Isn't this about the time arctic cat wen't under?
1982..ish..
I believe it was the end of 81’. My buddy bought the 81’ El Tigre and couldn’t get one the following year.
Yes it was at the end of 81 till 83 I own a 1981 pantera 5000 and I did some research
Yep, went from under to dominating. I ran all of them, preferred Ski-Doo, but the Cat’s were faster..
