Great content!! Would you consider doing a portrait tutorial sort of thing? Apologies if you've done that already and i missed it, if so i'd love to watch that!! Much love and admiration!!
Great video. In the margin there are a lot of videos from others "testing" WMOP also. I would recommend looking at videos by other top artist who use these paints. They aren't just visiting, they make a living from this. Also there are some artist who use regular oil paints that are non-toxic, or use old processes where the mediums are not toxic. Draw mix Paint site is devoted to the latter, though as good as it is, his paints are adapted to his somewhat unusual process. Great paints though. Charlie Hunter is kinda a Cobra ambassador, and Daniel Sprik, has a seminar on YT where he got to try Cobra. He was using them for the first time, but it didn't seem to slow him down. I am not pushing Cobra, I have about the same of Cobra and W+N. Thomas Jefferson Kitts has a video tease, quite a lot of info, on his old masters process that does not use toxic mediums.
The easiest thing is to move to WMOPs, however, there is never any necessity to use toxic mediums with standard oil paints, there are many options. Many of the masters were stuck with highly toxic pigments but used less toxic mediums. Pricy, there are also the excellent Geneva oil paints.
Beautiful painting. How long do you work with each layer? I know that oil paints take much longer to dry so do you work on the painting for days at a time or are you able to complete a painting in a single session?
Yes I found the pigments and pigment loads disappointing, coming from the Designers’ gouache from the same company, so I have mixed feelings about these particular paints. But the lack of fumes and long open time compared with acrylics I’m a big fan of. I’ve been experimenting with raw umber wipe-out for a tonal underpainting, which is fantastic fun! I had a queezy moment when I first opened the tubes as they’d been stored cap up and a bit of medium had separated to the top. But since then, storing them cap down, I’ve been fine even with the window closed. But I’ll be trying other brands when I’ve used up a tube, hoping for better quality pigments.
I use both the W+N, and the Cobra. Cobra might be better. However, I did buy the W+N from old stock. Also limited remaining colors. The danger is often more with the mediums than the pigments, but given that the market for these was schools they had to be non-toxic in basic sets, or throughout, for the pigments also. Meaning the trouble you may be having with "load" is the usual: Nobody pays for, say, cadmiums because they like that they are toxic, or they want to spend more money. They are indispensable to the way some people work. You can mix oils with WMOP, and retain the advantages of easy cleanup etc... Check how much you can use, but it is quite a bit. So if your WMOP set is school ready it won't have any Cadmiums, as one example. Some of the WMOP do use toxic pigments, I think, so you may be able to get actual strong pigments you are used to and you will have to be careful about that, but it is a lot less insidious than the mediums. Or you can add a touch of regular cadmiums with no danger if done properly. The overall process will still work.
I liked this so much I bought some water mixable oils :D I also saw someone recommended the Gamblin solvent free gel for these kind of paints, so I'll try it too. I hope I can paint as beautiful as you do ❤.

Wow, amazing. Thank you for sharing this
THANK YOU! Everybody keeps painting a series of straight lines but no real examples of how to use it ESPECIALLY for skin, i.e., PORTRAITS!
EXCELLENT!
I didn't know you could apply that much oil painting on top of another. oils take a long time to dry. but it came out nice
Beautiful! I just got these paints and I'm watching lots of videos to learn how to use them.

Beautiful ❤ I've never tried water mixable oils, but would love to maybe switch over one day! I get headaches from my oil mediums all the time 😅
Thank you so much!, I can understand!yes this will work for you!

Beautiful painting. Have you tried Schmincke Medium W Gel? It can turn any traditional oil paints into water-mixable oil.

Thank you so much!!, yes’d I like to explore more around this medium!
