- This "Was" a day of work but unfortunately the sound was ruined on a couple of job. I added in some others to fluff it out.:-)
Variety is the spice of life...
This is a good oversight of my work. I don't job everyday trying to make ends meet. I no longer have to do 10 jobs a day every day so I try and mix it up.
Gas boilers are complex and servicing and troubleshooting them can be a difficult task. Common UK boiler brands such as Vaillant, Ideal, Worcester and Baxi all have more obscure models and these can require a little extra effort to diagnose correctly.
Unlike the USA our boilers are all high efficiency and more technology makes for harder diagnosis.
For videos on Burnham, Weil-Mclain, Peerless and Lochinvar find a US Channel.
I typed all that for better keyword and YT ratings. Lets see!!
Here is a link to the kit I used in this video, it is an affiliate link so if you buy it I get a (very very small) kick back. I didn't do this video for this kick back. I could find more money on the floor of the van behind the drivers seat ;-)
Here are a few affiliate links to some of the stuff I use everyday.

Great variety of work, thanks for taking the time to put these videos out.
Saves a lot of time doing the sump that way, I never drain them now.
Glad you like them! I really appreciate the comment too. Thanks :-)
Great job, thanks for sharing! 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :-)
The plastic bit in the bottom of the Ideal boiler is part of the drop-down control box. They break off very easily!
Yeah, I found it on the other side. It clips into the case if i remember correctly `;-)
Nicely done. Every boiler room fit out I fit a 1/2” close tapered nipple with a 1/2” lever valve then the AAV. Makes it that much easier 😂 (no my firm don’t spec that but I do it anyway) 👊 same thing on pig tails w/gauges always pop service valves on them
We usually do that too. But on the last day when you realise you didn't pick them up....... :-)
Very inspiring
Thanks. I still enjoy the job. I do change it up when I get bored or frustrated. :-)
Them commercial magnacleans are not cheap just looked them up as never seen one before. Thanks for posting your content always a great watch :)
My pleasure! This one didn't do as well as others so I might re name it :-)
Thanks once again
No problem :-)
Felt your pain with getting the Adey app to take the picture 😂😂😂
I have noticed if you change the background contrast it picks up a bit better.
yeah, natural light seems to work best too.
Top vid again Ollie 👍
Could you do a vid on schematics of different commercials heating systems you come across on the commercial side of things.
Would like to maybe give commercial side a go but want to learn more about the systems layout as it looks overwhelming haha
Great suggestion! But honestly I don't think I could. Loads of different types and I would go down a rabbit hole :-)
@@HeatingGeek could you keep it simple and do common ones what would benefit a novice going into commercial to give good fundamentals of system would be brilliant 🤩
I could do that. :-) I will if I come across one thats easy to film. Usually there is lots of stuff in the way. :-)
Good video.👍. What a suprise leak on Press fit. What kind of fitting is that? Never had a leak with geberit yet over a last 15 years. But had leak with cheaper fitting as well like Frabo and Gutpress 54 and 42 fittings. 😢
It was a ..... cant remember. But the pipe had pin holes in it which I didn't notice at first. So probably a pin hole on the O ring. I had to cut a bit more out because I found another couple when I took some more insulation off.
😅 Well done you in my field now, I have to subscribe , fed up working with in smaller range
Its a nicer life tbh :-) Where do you work?
On the baxi boiler dose the hole above the part you changed need the be blanked off
Yes, it has a big bung in it. :-)
Nice work, what’s the makita tyre inflator like ?
It works for me. I had all the Makita gear anyway so it was a no brainer. You need the cable tie trigger holder though :-)
How do u find working with gloves on, I've nvr been able to get used to them
I never used to use them but then I started pipe fitting and HAD to use them. Now I don't mind tbh.
hi ollie you must be very busy as am having withdrawl problems not sure if your still doing the vidoes {content} on u tube as i am a big fan of yours think i'v binged all your vids. hope your well look forward to more from you or ?
I have 5 nearly ready but no mojo at the moment. Sorry, I will get back to it sooner or later 🙂Thanks for commenting I do appreciate it :-)
Good video. unlucky about the phone. get yourself a Samsung rugged phone. something like the xcover Pro 6 or 7. Great phones for us trades.
I will have a look at the rugged phone. Is the cover a cover or phone?
That was an interesting one Ollie. What is that part called on the last boiler you were working on? ❤
I have no idea to be honest. Expensive for a plastic plug
@@HeatingGeek thank you buddy am sure it will have a name on a blown up diagram
Yeah it will. I think it was called a plug but cant remember
🤘😎🤘
What tool bag are you using please?
Kline Backpack

:-)
@@HeatingGeek thank you 🙏
No problem :-)
You got an O ring with a baxi part? They must have been feeling generous! The price for that part was disgusting... you need to get yourself a gopro or a 360 what ever there called. Might take abit more beating..
I have one but cant be assed to use it. :-)
Which logics catch on fire? what's the cause?
You not seen the recent gas press? Certain models of Logic’s have been overheating and catching fire. Ideal have had a huge recall on 10,000+ Logic’s to do an aftermarket repair. Ideal are crying out for engineers to carry out this work for £23 a job😂
Logic 2 only 👍
@mattsan70 Ideal Logic 2. It's the .gov website. Dry fire and burn a hole through the heat exchanger. Then they burn through the plastic flue collector. Then they burn through the plastic front case. Then they burn through the plastic new build houses they were installed in..... :-) Just a joke... I don't want to get sued.. :-/
@@HeatingGeek blimey not a good look foe ideal - corners cut too far - no HX over temp sensor
@@mattsan70 exactly. All it needed was a water pressure switch or overheat. Most other boilers have this or can cope with a bit of overheating. Not the Logic though, designed with one concept, make money.
Good video. I wish it didn't cost you a smashed phone tho😢
I'm not even fixing it. What's the point, as long as it still works it can keep going. My old Chinese phone was much better :-)
Sad I know. First.
Nothing wrong with that :-)
Im sad enough to post this stuff. :-)
Ideals are turd. After the Isar and icos they went from bad to worse
Yeah, funny how when Venture capital get involved a boiler manufacturer make to cost/profit only. :-)
Nice one Ollie. The Baxi/Potty combis are fairly good. Easy to service & repair. However, the parts are a rip-off!!
Yup it’s Ideal’s ‘Sump Gate’, 1000 of boilers with their shitty sump & they were blaming service engineers for the cracks??!!........Complete c.nts!!......But hey they must be one of the top selling boilers in the country. But they don’t look after their installers very well.
Yeah, but they keep us busy :-) Cant complain about that
