@samuelbarros1563 yeah but he loses character in Dressossa running from the enemies. Only cause Oda made it so, was he redeemable. Other than that, just shows how much Usoland doesn't belong in the Straw Hats.....still love him though...fml....
One thing I think doesn't get mentioned enough in the Syrup Village arc is when Luffy first meets Usopp he not only uses Shank's "not a tool to scare but for action" showing that Luffy is like Shanks but its also the moment Zoro knew he was right to go with Luffy
My favourite villian in pre time skip has got to be crocodile. I have no idea what it is, but he was just really cool and really set the scene for a "warlord." As another RUclipsr said, he had backup plans for his backup plans. His sand sand fruit hits so hard man, and he just gets cigars out of thin air
I was surprised to learn that the community has a negative opinion of Syrup Village (I am not participating in the community much until I'm caught up on the anime). To me, Syrup Village was when One Piece started really acting like One Piece. I love the theme of wanting to protect something precious to you even if that thing is a village that shuns and hurts you. The line "I loved them, every single one of the lies you told" is genuinely gut-wrenching in-context. The Usopp Pirates evoked a feeling of typical childhood explorers bravely facing a terrible situation, which I think is incredibly respectable. While I didn't like Kuro much at first, he's grown on me since, as he was another guy who by all means did pretty much everything right. Mugiwara no Goofy could make a whole video on Syrup Village from Kuro's POV and it would probably be just as funny as all the other arcs he's covered. Django is a fucking goat too, I hope there's more to see of him in the future.
I adore Alabasta. I think the character interactions and writing is probably the best one piece has seen, and I’m firmly devoted to having Vivi return to the crew
Every straw hat is strong but Vivi kinda just has a duck. I say Karoo joins because Vivi only cried during Alabasta while Karoo ran across the desert like 16 times…
@@xAglet nah I’m not twelve but yes what I said is silly. Kind of a joke but I still think vivi would need to provide some value to the crew or else she’d just be Nami’s emotional support.
I felt similarly about Moria, but as I'm currently learning more about his backstory and history it adds much more to the character in hindsight. Plus it, like the post-lobby arc, built on the lore because we were introduced to Kuma (one of my favorite characters so granted I'm a little biased.) It only pushes the depth of the world's lore onto us and only escalates the level the Strawhats are reaching because this is the FIRST time we saw TWO war lords in one place before. And it's essentially the result OF the Straw-hats.. Seeing it as a D on your list is actually a huge shock. If anything it should be nice. I personally think it's around skypiea's level.
I gotta agree with you, Nico Robin is probably also my favorite straw hat, next to Tony Tony the Chopper!! She and her backstory and current story offer so much on the future of One Piece and the legend of JoyBoy, she just ties in to a lot of things. And her fascination with learning in general just gives a lot of depth to her character. Especially once you learn about her past and such. That's why Water 7/Enies Lobby is also my favorite arc up to date. Of course there's a lot of more impactful arcs afterwards, but this one holds true throughout the story. Without Robin, we'd have no idea about the past, the Blank Century, ancient weapons and SO MUCH MORE!
Arlong Park will probably always be my favorite. The villains, the pacing, the fights, the location, the weight of the situation, the repercussions, the set up for Hatchi, Jinbe and Fishman Island... Man.
Nice tier list, you bring some really good points to the table, that contextualize your opinion in such a way that i am forced to agree. Keep up the great work man 👍🏼

My love of Syrup Village is not born out of _ignorance_ , I'm just not impressed with big dragons and giant spider demons as much as most people seem to be.
@@sap9255 Well it isn't my favourite arc but I'll try defend it a bit. I think it is actually very well constructed thematically and that Kuro is a really interesting villain in that he is just so anaethma to the nature of the One Piece world. Despite being relatively powerful he never follows his dreams and seemingly doesn't even understand them. For example he is dissatisfied when he is a pirate because there is hardship and resents his loyal crew because of this, then he thinks he wants a peaceful life of luxury which he attains already while pretending to be Kluhadore but he can't even recognize that for what it is hence he carries on his plan to kill her. This parallels so well with Usopp on multiple levels. He knows what he desires but holds himself back from following it out of compassion for his friend. He lies for good reasons, and Kuro for selfish ones, He is weak yet brave while Kuro is strong yet ultimately cowardly. HOWEVER, I think other One Piece arcs are just as thematically interesting and Sham and Buchi really annoy me (much prefer them in the live action lol).

I just don't understand why people hate on Thriller Bark arc so much. Yes it lacks in terms of main villain (btw I don't think Moria is bad antagonist either), but everything else in this arc is just freaking awesome: - it has some of the funniest moments in whole One Piece (Luffy interactions with zombies, Robin denial of team formation etc.); - it has some of the best moments in terms of crew interactions both in fight (team vs Oars) and in general (beatufil lady swordsman brings a ton of meat lmao); - really good (interesting and not basic) fights like Zoro vs Ryuma and Usopp vs Perona; - Nightmare Luffy (!); - Kuma "introdaction" and (of course) "nothing happened" moment; - and BROOK (he's so good in this arc) and his flashback is one of the most dramatic and beautifully done side stories in entire OP. Stop giving this arc shit!
I'm so upset that I LOVED Long Ring and Thriller Bark and every other fan I talk to talks about how bad they are. I was impressed Thriller Bark takes place over ONE NIGHT and they manage to pull off what they do. And Long Ring was just fun, I'm probably broken.

baratie/arlong park was when i decided one piece was a really solid anime/manga kinda like what you said
i just entered time skip, perfect timing to find this video.
nah bro whisky peak is one of my favs, so short yet soo awesome, zoro showing off then luffy and zoro fighting was so funny, personally i would switch it with enies lobby
Water 7 with the world building and crew conflict is the BEST arc in the entire Manga so far, so any rating less than S is criminal
Bro ngl choppers back story was the first time i had cried because of a show😭😭😭😭😭
Personally, I really enjoyed the long ring long road arc I just thought it was quite fun
bruh I have watched all of 700 episodes of one piece I have seen and I never seen the back stories of sanji and luffy I was so confused where people got their backstories until now lol.
finnaly someone who respects skypiea
Thriller bark underrated imo, but I appreciate the love for spypiea, I don't understand why so many people hate it.
Good video, really well structured and enjoyable, you definitely deserve more subs, and W list honestly, my favourite arc pre time skip is Sabody
You forgot the introduction of ace and Blackbeard as well as the will of D and Rogers name is
Gol D Roger so it should have an increase
fair
Not having whiskey peak in at least very good tier is a crime. Otherwise great list
Tbh syrup village is heavily underrated also impel down is easily the best arc
netflix gonna watch this and make it happen for goated , very good and nice rank arc
skypiea and thriller bark severly underrated
I actually liked the plot of Syrup Village & thought Kuro was pretty menacing, but Usopp annoyed the SHIT out of me. I was even kind of pissed that he joined the crew at first, but over time he became funny and endearing and I was really sad when he left in Water 7.
It really upset me that Usopp didn't come along to save Robin.
Luckily Sogeking came to assist on his behalf.
I just don't understand why people hate on Thriller Bark arc so much.
Yes it lacks in terms of main villain (btw I don't think Moria is bad antagonist either), but everything else in this arc is just freaking awesome:
- it has some of the funniest moments in whole One Piece (Luffy interactions with zombies, Robin denial of team formation etc.);
- it has some of the best moments in terms of crew interactions both in fight (team vs Oars) and in general (beatufil lady swordsman brings a ton of meat lmao);
- really good (interesting and not basic) fights like Zoro vs Ryuma and Usopp vs Perona;
- Nightmare Luffy (!);
- Kuma "introdaction" and (of course) "nothing happened" moment;
- and BROOK (he's so good in this arc) and his flashback is one of the most dramatic and beautifully done side stories in entire OP.
Stop giving this arc shit!
in whisky peak, zoro sliced 100 bounty hunters, so i would put it on B tier cuz it was cool.
Enies lobby is my favorite arc ever
The alabasta saga is still my favorite to this day
I'm so upset that I LOVED Long Ring and Thriller Bark and every other fan I talk to talks about how bad they are. I was impressed Thriller Bark takes place over ONE NIGHT and they manage to pull off what they do. And Long Ring was just fun, I'm probably broken.
Man, i really liked One Piece up until Dressrose, because half the Straw hats would disappear for like 100 episodes and i wouldn't see my favourite crew members like Chopper for ages.
that's true
Long ring is a good arc it is fun because of the games and teamwork it is fun I don't know why ppl hate it so much
imo impel down's pacing sold a really good idea. nearly fell asleep watching it
