I love how you went back to the basics! I have been overwhelmed with all the spreadsheets and workbooks. It was nice to see how simple it is to start with pen and paper! Thanks for sharing 🙂
This is subjective and savings are not concrete. Shouldn't there be a budget associated with this method? Its awesome and efficient, but want to know the drive behind the numbers?
Yes of course everyone’s budget is subjective and is different to meet their own financial goals. My goal for each envelope has been set since January of 2023, so I don’t repeat my financial goals in every video. For example, my Christmas goal is to reach $1000 by December. So I took 1000/12= $41 and decided I can stuff $40 per biweekly paycheck + any additional funds from my partners paycheck can go into the envelope as well. I’m already almost at my goal so once I reach it I’ll decide whether or not I want to lower the stuffing amount for it or not. Really depends on my fluctuating income and what my priorities/goals are for that week/month. I follow a zero based budgeting strategy so I start with a paycheck amount subtract any fixed expenses and then work with the remaining amount to put money away into my sinking funds. That’s the method I’m using. Hope that clears up any confusion.
Love your ur team work between you and your husband it’s great!!! I’m the same with my husband and when you work together your able to reach goals faster and together!!! 😊
Yes I love that he’s on board with me cash stuffing 😆 can’t believe we’ve almost hit several goals already! Woooo happy that you and your husband are working together to reach your goals 🤍
Great cash stuffing! You are soo luck you get to into disney for free! And I cant believe Halloween is in 2 months! I love how you prioritize date night too. Its hard with 2 kids. But you got this sis! 💜
Thank you Jenn! And yes so very thankful for the free disney passes. If our friend could get more I'd definitely do a small giveaway for those disneyland passes ☺ And yessss date night felt nonexistent for quite some time because of the kiddos but I want to prioritize our relationship too. ❤
My fiance takes care of car related categories on his account. We split some fixed expenses, so categories like utilities, electricity, phone bill is on autopay and he handles it with his account. Whatever bills I have in my binder is under my name and my bank account so I cash stuff for that. I do have a groceries envelope but we haven't gone grocery shopping just yet so I will be able to stuff it this week after I pay myself.
I understand now after watching the full video. I did this too many years ago with great success. I had envelopes for Garden yard expense (tools, mower maint. ect.) Auto Maintenance, Vacations, Savings etc. Save for any planned expenses & a little for unknow future expenses. Great for savings up for a purchase like some furniture or an appliance upgrade. If I had 50% or more saved up it made those type purchases much easier to make happen.
So.... question... are you doing a budget or whats the purpose of this. I saw sewage envelope yet nothing is put in it.. shouldnt it be based on your budget? What goal drives the amount you put away? I want to do what you do, but what are the rules??? There should be rules to follow .
Yes there are a lot of empty envelopes because like I mentioned in my previous video, I just made these envelopes for my bills. I’ve been cash stuffing my rent only so that’s why there’s funds there. Every other bill has just been paid for, so this week once I get paid then I’ll be adding money into those envelopes. There aren’t a set of rules that I follow. I pay for my fixed expenses first, and whatever leftover I decide what’s a priority and what amount I want to put in it for that week (depends on my goals). I am following a zero based budget so every dollar has a purpose.
Do you have an investment row or is that included in the savings category? Otherwise I'm guessing you want to get debt free before considering investing?
I do have an investment envelope. It’s a new envelope so I didn’t stuff it yet. My goal is to invest $500 monthly but I currently have student loans and debt so I do want to get rid of all that first. So I’ll be cash stuffing small amounts for investments in the meantime.

Of course, glad it was helpful 🥰🤍

What about utilities & groceries, auto insurance? Just a thought? Or is that covered with your income??
