He’s a grizzled detective, he’s a cut above in close combat than most in the city, knows when to appear just in the right moment before someone get’s attacked, and is completely fearless in the face of danger. It's the grisled old soldier and energetic breathe of fresh air classic. Like True Grit, or Batman, or any grumpy male figure plus child story ever. It's an old concept dressed up in a new lens and I'm here for it. Frankly, I love any story that manages to surprise me plot wise. The themes are timeless and this one is done well.
The fact that he cares about beastmen kind of destroys your argument, though. Batman changes splicers (animal people) into regular people against their will, on the regular (Batman Beyond). By doing so, he literally practices forced eugenics, the very thing That Wolf is fighting against. Honestly, Batman would probably be on the side of the anti-beastmen faction.

But more of that Red Haired Girl version of Robin in Frank Miller’s version of “The Dark Knight Returns”. Also I may need to alter my opinion of Shiro as well, as he not only reminds me of Batman, but also has the edginess of Daredevil with a touch of Godlike abilities of Dr. Manhattan as well. With all that blue god like aura and that ability to see into the past with his sense of smell. Damn.... that’s a scary combination of Super Hero’s in one... isn’t it?
