Your farm brings such joy to me as well. I know I’m disabled and could never be able to do as y’all. I close my eyes and turn up volume and I work along with you. I thank you for this.
I’m disabled too n 60 spent all my energy to garden n the town ran outta culinary water .. so I lost everything I worked on.. next year hoping to can be more prepared but this heat wave has got to go.. the town should have warned us
What a fantastic day. It is so nice to see you ladies all together and planning a baby shower for Meg. Y'all have such a sharing, caring community. Love watching the kids play and their slip & slide beats the store bought one for sure. Bri your broccoli would win a prize for sure. I heard so many of the gardeners saying their broccoli wasn't doing well at all. You've got the green thumb. Y'all have a Blessed day.
It's amazing how some babies and toddlers develop a huge vocabulary so early. Wilder is so well spoken. And, he fits his name, munching on hay and grass on all fours. I like that Arthur purchased gifts for his children on father's day. I never thought about that before. Giving to my children always made me feel good. I hope this is seen by others with similar hearts. I can see why Brianna loves being in the garden. It truly is glorious.
Another great day on the homestead, sums it up perfectly. I just love seeing the kids eating fresh picked veggies, running wild, laughing, squealing, excited. Brianna so happy in her garden. Joyous, is what it is.
Your ending is great!! God bless you & your lovely family. With all the craziness going on in this world nowadays it so peaceful, calming, & joyful to come each day to your farm & just sit a while with you, your family & God. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful, farm & family. Your children are truly a pleasure to watch grow up strong, secure, happy healthy children.
Could you or one of the other NC homestead moms do a video on what we could do to participate in the celebration of the newest little Holler. There is so many Ideas being thrown around. you could do an Amazon baby registry for things like a binky so when they are bought they hopefully won't get a thousand more of them because they obviously got some, and Maybe an adress for homemade gifts and a baby money pot to go to big items like a crib, carseat or rocking chair. We don't want to overwhelm, but want to show our love to!
I just can’t understand how you have so much time to garden with your kids. Mine is everywhere but in the garden and I want to jump in the river in a matter of 5 minutes of trying to garden.
Bri, I really enjoy watching you in your garden, it looks so relaxing, you have such a sweet spirit about you, Art , you were a weed whacking king ! Thanks for sharing your happy place, 😊👍💕💕💕
Wilder Can really talk! The only child as articulately chatty I knew at 1-1/2yrs is my grandchild #6..I imagine it has to do with hearing and understanding all the older siblings...the little ones don't miss a beat...She's three now and speaks like as well as her older brothers 5& 8 I am always inspired by your treks to the Garden..All your hard work is paying off and will continue. The bug nets seem to be worth what ever you paid for them.. I always love seeing the other families I follow coming together. I had just watched Hollar Homestead's HOA garden tour. And I have to say it, I was expecting to hear about Art and Bri's baby #6 lol..Good job hehehe
I love seeing the girls emulating being a good momma. Well done Bri. Brings back sweet memories. Try not to be overwhelmed, God is good. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me♡
What a lovely family you have...your children are adorable! I love how you find peace and renewal in you garden. ❤️🧚🏻♂️🦋🥦🌹! Watching from Saskatchewan, Canada!
I'm so happy for you guys!! Food in the pantry is as good as a disaster insurance policy in a flood year. Lol. It's all paying off, highs and lows right? God has blessed your family even though you've suffered a huge setback... God is good, all the time. 💜💜💜💜
My grandmother who raised 9 children all ways said if a child eats things weird that their bodies are telling them to eat it and none of her child were sick, but for the normal stuff. So don't worry about the baby eating weird things like hay, grass. Loves and hugs from the little 61 old lady in New Mexico USA. May God bless you and your family
for bugs in lettuce and broccoli and stuff you break it apart put it under a strainer in a bowl of water and bugs will float or sink. But they will not hang on
So awesome to see all your and Arts hard working paying off with your garden bounty. Those strawberries were huge. May I ask how far away The Rhodes live from your homestead. Also would you share your Aunts broccoli salad recipe or is it a family secret. :-) I think Joyful watches Tim Wells with her Dad as she knows where to aim for a lethal kill. Thanks for the nature lesson with the fertilized egg and the yolk less one. Always learning from you two.
I weed eat every week 4 to 5 hours on our small farm and I agree. I get into a zone and away I go. MY husband gets mad because I don’t let him weed eat I absolutely love it!
When I was a kid, my sister Kate and I would walk down the street on Sunday morning to buy a dozen eggs from our neighbors. Sometimes they would give each of us a little egg like that and my Dad would fry them up for us. Ours always had tiny yolks.
Patrick I'm thinking maybe you where getting a bantam egg 😊we have one little fizzle bantam hen (their feathers curl in the wrong direction) her name is Luffa because she looks like a shower scrubby😂😁 she lays the sweetest little eggs with tiny yolks. Our neighbor boy loves when we share a bantam egg or double yolk egg with him. It's fun to share our blessings with others and watch the kids get excited about an egg that is different than anything they have ever seen before 👍🏻thank you for sharing your story ❤️ love hearing about the good old days!
Okay- Can those of us who want to give Meg a baby gift how can we do that? Like we could send them to your or Rebekah so she could have them at the shower? Also what does she need (the most)?
There's a lot of Hollar Homestead fans/comments that wanted to have a Virtual Baby Shower for Meg. Since she has limited space, maybe we could just donate gift cards or an account for $$ which they could use? Bri & ladies, what do you think? We just need a link and info. Thank y'all ❤️
Sharon. My FAVORITE 🎁 from my SURPRISE BABY SHOWER. 44 years AGO was a ROBE for ME.. That was my first and only birth full term. I REMEMBERED it so WELL. So NOW I make sure I have a MOTHER'S 🎁. I also would LOVE to GIVE her a 🎁. I never seen her in a maternity clothes. Thank you Sharon GOD BLESS YOU
Love the ending title 'Quiet in the Midst of Chaos' 😊 I've found a great way to get rid of bugs in the veg is to soak in salt for a minute..it paralyzes the creatures and everything rinses clean. If I use Pink Himalayan Salt for soaking, things stay fresher longer in the fridge, esp. Salads, other Greens,
Brenda don't know ya but as a Art and bri fan we are kindred friends lol What I'm trying to say hang in there we will make it I been having a few rough days ,but Art and Bri and the kiddos make me lol and have a great time on their homestead.take care.
All of your children are sweet and funny and very helpful but Wilder is just the funniest little man. He is talking so much now i love hearing him. He just want to be a cow lol.💜
IN The Philippines the eggs you have are called Balut and the eggs are a great deal. They are prized by a great deal of the island's population. The eggs are boiled and then buried for about 10 days in warm sand. I am sure you have heard of Balut in the past. Great video. Be blessed and stay safe. God bless America.
Busy day for mom and dad but after kids chores, it's fun fun time!!! Looks like it's going to be a good 👍 night for sleeping 😴!!! The kids really played hard followed an enjoyable 👍 time eating watermelon 🍉!! Hope the baby shower planning 😀 😄 was a great success. The ladies definitely enjoyed their time in the garden picking and sampling! It was a long busy day and thanks for sharing it 😀 😊 with us!!
this was a great video. felt liek i was hanigng out with you guys lol thanks for sharing! you have a wonderful family, from the looks of it! wishing you all a wonderful week! hope the girls enjoy thier air guns and the boys enjoy thier gifts coming soon! :D
wow...what a lot of food..such abundance. You guys need a food vacuum sealer..create so much more place in the fridge and keep food even better for much longer
My favourite broccoli salad, is grapes, broccoli, red onion, roasted sunflower seeds. The dressing is mayo, balsamic, brown sugar, curry powder, So good! That broccoli looks amazing! ♥️ where did you get the netting? Wilder is so comical! Sweet family!
Who wouldn’t want to have a visit to your farm! ❤️ thanks for the advice on the broccoli, I have some to put in the freezer tomorrow. Freezers are definitely on back orders at stores I only have one and an old refrigerator in our garage, praying it gets here before corn harvest!!
Hi Art and Bri, We had a little egg like that one but smaller. We haven't cracked it open yet. It's probably the size of a nickel, I think it's cool to see and why. Thank you for the information on the little egg. Rooster J Acres
I no longer blanch mine and it turns out just fine. I learned a trick a long time ago as a teen that making a saltwater solution in the sink and dropping your produce in it will kill and eliminate any bugs if you don't have the netting. The rest. I worked in at that time would fill one sink with salt water solution and another with water for rinsing. They did this with all produce that had crack and crevices for buggies to hide.
You don’t have to blanch most of your vegetables. The only problem is that you have put it into boiling water when cooking and not to let defrost cause it goes mushy
Could you please tell us what type of variety of strawberries that y'all are growing; they are huge? Great video by the way. I had to watch Wilder saying, "just a second, dada" numerous times. I couldn't stop laughing. He is so stinkin' cute!!!
What a great video. Even better with Rebecca and Loraine. Not real sure how much planning got done but visitors is always an exciting time. Bri your garden is beautiful.
Just so you know with the pandemic it extremely hard to find a new freezer. Look on Craigslist or Facebook in your area. You should be able to find. Just thought I would give you a heads up.
I have been really worried about our Homestead RUclipsrs too! I have sent messages to the Hollars after their visit to the Fit Farmer. Now I see all of the Mom’s getting together and others getting together for chicken processing. Please be safe. Your videos are keeping me going during Stay at Home time. Like I said to Meg- I know you all work hard and have chores but stay up to date with the news because this is bad. Art- I remember your post you did as an ICU nurse telling people to follow the safety guidelines. Is your area not affected too badly right now? I am hoping the best for you all.
Wilder. Was so CUTE. He KNEW you had pea's in the garden. You need 2 more freezers and frig and a cold room. Much to do on your homestead. So much to do. You are NOT LAZY about blanching or NOT the broccoli. I like raw if possible.. I LOVE watching your VLOGS. Lorraine. I LOVE the colours of your top. Beautiful summer colours. ENJOY your GIRL TIME Planning Megs BABY SHOWER. Cannot wait to see. PLEASE give us LOTS of TIME to MAIL her 🎁. PLEASE. THANK YOU. As you know it is taking LONGER to MAIL. CHOW. Where do we mail the GIFT. 🎁
Wilder is so SMART. Then it occurred to me that is where our public school system fails our children, with the older children away at school the younger children miss out on the lessons homeschooling families do with their older children. My family did not homeschool but my older brother played school with us when he came home from kindergarten. We all were reading and writing (I didn't know b, p, d, & q) by the time we went to school. You rock!
Oh Bri I so feel ya on the freezer issue. We only have 2 uprights and we have 100 meat birds to process in 3 weeks... 2 hogs and 2 beef to process this year! We are going to have to go on a waiting list to get more freezers!
Nothing better than to pick and eat fresh from the garden. Your garden is beautiful. Your little man is so precious, I just want to pinch his cheeks😊 so cute eating peas from the bucket.
Oh my goodness Wilder eating hay lol He's all Boy for sure. Loved the Girls coming over for a Garden Tour lol. All the Kids had a great time while they were together. That's such a delight to see. Your Broccoli harvest is so nice. Congratulations I'm so happy for you. God Bless and Peace Be With You All
I remember the first time my Broccoli had worms. I cut the heads an brought them in to rinse, I ran the water and walked away. I came back to find huge green worms floating in the sink! Thanks was so grossed out , that was thirty years ago , I m over it. But it was rather shocking😝! That's a pretty dress on you Grace, where is your Duck, Goose? JO JO IN VT 💕😄
wow i thought Bri was gonna be a mommy again. lol. you guys have a bountiful garden. thanks for sharing, have a good day. your son said just a sec bout 3 times, lol. he has a very good vocabulary
Always a great video but I am amazed by all the comments talking about soaking in saltwater to remove worms and slugs. WHY???? If you cover them with netting along with anything that doesn't need pollination that is a nasty thing you can skip! I can tolerate a lot of things but bugs, worms, and slugs in my food is where I draw the line if it can be helped. I am not opposed to cutting out bad spots on larger foods to eat and even cutting mold off cheese but why not simply cover the crops and prevent it to begin with!
Another way to check for developed eggs is called Candling is the name given to looking at the inside of a developing egg by shining a bright light through it. It's used by people who are incubating chicken eggs or checking eggs for consumption. That way you don't have to crack open the eggs to find out especially if the eggs are spoiled.
An easy way to get the bugs out of your broccoli and cauliflower is to soak them in the kitchen sink, head side down so it stays submerged, for about an hour before you process them. The worms and bugs will try to get away from the water and end up drowning. I then drain the sink and take the bugs and worms out to the chickens...they LOVE them!
Beautiful day for sure.. great to have friends over and the kids get to play with their friends...I didnt see Penelope though😟 A friend filled day for all😆😆😆 Have a good evening 🌻🌻🌻
My daughter in law is from the Philippines and she would have loved to have those they pay to get them she ate some one day and I felt ill. We can't find them here in Michigan very often. God bless you from Michigan
Hey Bri. I just wanted to say how pretty you look. That dress and the earrings. I guess you know that is a look that is so good on you! You can work hard but still be cooler, comfortable, and look so cute!
Your farm brings such joy to me as well. I know I’m disabled and could never be able to do as y’all. I close my eyes and turn up volume and I work along with you. I thank you for this.

The blanched broccoli will pack in your freezer bags better and take up less space. Because it packs tighter, it stores longer.
Listening to wilder say just just one second at the beginning made my day. He is so cute. Thanks for sharing your family with all of us.
Sending love all the way from San Diego. COVID is making me rethink city life. Your videos give me peace.
Those children kept me smiling! They are amazing! God bless your precious family.🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Your family is so enjoyable to watch. Those little ones make me laugh. Thank you for sharing.
We have the same freezer problem. I have been canning some of it and thats working!

Holy basil, mint, stevia, chamomile and anise hyssop is my favorite tea! Great gift for the holidays!!!!

DAD. GREAT IDEA buying 🎁 for your CHILDREN for FATHER'S DAY.
Sweet idea to buy for the children as you did just surprised at what you bought. I guess it was a man thing, Sorry Art/
I love it “just a second dada” he is just too adorable

That's exactly what we have. A full sized refrigerator and a size full freezer.
for bugs in lettuce and broccoli and stuff you break it apart put it under a strainer in a bowl of water and bugs will float or sink. But they will not hang on
i don't know if you did, but you can also chop up the thick stems of the broccoli and prepare them the same as the crown. they taste perfect!
So awesome to see all your and Arts hard working paying off with your garden bounty. Those strawberries were huge. May I ask how far away The Rhodes live from your homestead. I agree Art! I’m 60 and my weed eater is heavy. It was the only one I could find me being short. Everyone thinks I’m crazy! Lol

Art said "I can think better weed eating than I can sitting still". Then he's still for a moment as though to prove the point. Made me chuckle.

I know you guys have probably worked for years to get a bountiful garden like you have now!!! Great job
The calendula rows are stunning! 💛
I’d blanch some and not blanch some. Mark the packages and when you eat them, compare the two..
I was thinking the same thing. There are more bags in the refrigerator, so not too late.
I no longer blanch mine and it turns out just fine. Do you happen to know the variety of those strawberries? They look so big and perfect.
I use all the stem of the broccoli in stews/soups just cut up into small cubes, great flavour x
Yesss! I saved all of mine!
My bantam hen laid a fairy egg, it was the size of a peanut (no shell) cutest thing ever!
I slice the broccoli stems and small leaves and put them in a stir fry. What a bumper crop.

What about dehydrating the broccoli. It takes about 5-7 lbs per quart jar.
wow i thought Bri was gonna be a mommy again. lol. you guys have a bountiful garden. thanks for sharing, have a good day. your son said just a sec bout 3 times, lol. he has a very good vocabulary
Out of the mouths of babes! ❤️ so cute. Beautiful vlog as usual 😊 and your garden is absolutely gorgeous.
I know what candling is. We have hatched chicks many times.
Love seeing some of my favorite homesteading ladies on one video, woop woop!!
I'm smiling all the ways while watching, and it made my day while I'm in quarantine now. God bless you all.
This is my kiddos favorite video of yours. They always ask for "The Egg" video. :D
Beautiful day for sure.. great to have friends over and the kids get to play with their friends...I didnt see Penelope though😟
