I do go above 30. I just don't try anymore speed runs trying to hit the 40mph! Not worth the injury or death. As of now I'm back with the stock 15T motor pulleys with 48T wheel Pulleys. Xtra Torque. 🤙
Just want to say thank you for this video. I’m an avid one wheeler who is now also hooked on esk8. I got an exway flex and have maxed it out at 33mph. I want some more speed, but also I want more power. More torque for acceleration and hill climbing power. I slo just love building and tinkering on things so this is exciting for me. You answered almost all of my questions in this. I do notice the wheels on yours aren’t an option on the site. Can you tell me what wheels you have and why you prefer them? I really appreciate it. Going to order mine with your coupon code tomorrow.
Hey thanks brother for your feed back and support. 👍 Regarding the wheels they're the Torque Board 110mm wheels. They come in a kegal core so you will need to buy the BKB kegal pulleys on the BKB website. If you enjoy building the Duo board is an excellent intro to DIY Electric Skateboarding. This board has plenty of Torque with the 15t motor pulleys and if you want insane Torque pair the 15t motor pulleys with the 48t wheel Pulleys. I mean this Torque throws you off the board so please be careful.
@@Esk8Tech thank you! I’d probably enjoy striking a balance between speed and torque. I really only want lots of torque for hills, as I enjoy carving and speed mostly. May try the 20t motor pulley. Thank you!!
Love my BKB Duo. I have had it since October, and still ride every time its above 50 degrees outside. I got the 20t speed upgrade when I ordered it. So far, my upgrades have been 100mm Boa Constrictors (You'll need the Kegel pulleys for this wheel type) , and the VX2 remote. I love it, and if ya'll are in the market for a mid range board, save up and get the BKB Duo and skip over the $700 dollar range of boards. You'll be glad that you did. I have an Exway Flex that is gathering dust since I got the Duo. ***Quick Edit*** Try to purchase everything that you want at the initial time of purchase. I just got the board and the speed upgrade initially, and went back and ordered the remote and the Kegels later. I think the shipping was around $20, and I found that a little steep. 20 bucks is 20 bucks. The stock wheels weren't great IMO and the Flex in comparision was like night and day. Love the wheels on the Flex, the Boa's were definitely a much needed upgrade for this board.
🤙 I'm glad you upgraded your Duo. I just ordered the New XENITH Smart ESC. With that my Duo will be Fully upgraded. I have the Tru felx 2 deck, Vx2 remote, romp bash guards, shredlights, 15 T & 20T motor Pulleys, 40T plus 48T wheel Pulleys, orangutang nipple bushings Hard, 110mm Torque Board wheels. The XENITH will provide way more power and roll to start and auto shut off plus integrated BLE . Will be posting videos on the XENITH Smart ESC soon !! 👍
I believe so but you may have to use different motor mounts. The stock motor mounts may be too short and may get some wheel or deck bite. Also will have to run the motors through the set up wizard in the Vesctool and make sure they run in correct direction. 👍can definitely be done . Lmk how it goes. Ride safe 🤙
Do you still like this board? I have an exway flex but I want to upgrade, I also love building things. I have topped out my flex on cloud wheels at 33mph. I want something with a little more speed and more torque for hills. This board is looking like a nice option. I know this comment is only 3 weeks old but I’m still curious about your current thoughts. Thanks
@@johnd9357 Still love it, no issues with it at all. The only thing I wanted to change out of the box was the wheels and put on some proper grip tape. Splattergoat is the best place for custom tape IMO.I also waited a bit, but the VX2 remote is a worthwhile upgrade too. I missed the info on the screen of the Exway remote, VX2 solved it and has a better feel to me. Also, get the speed upgrade. Its a real hill eater either way, but the speed upgrade is worth it.
Hey man what an excellent review, thanks for doing this for all of us enthusiasts. After watching a number of you tube vids regarding BKB it was yours that finally sold me on it. I ordered and received my BKB duo with most of the upgrades: 20T speed upgrade,VX2 remote,6"pneumatics,48T pulleys, Flex 2 deck even though I'm only 175lbs I'm thinking more stability at speed, and the Xenith ESC. Everything arrived except I'm still waiting on the VX2 remote and the 6" pneumatics. A couple of questions for anyone that has experience: 1. Can I fit 7" evolve wheel/tires with 66T pulleys without any rubbing or wheel bite? 2. How do I run it using a more powerful Lipo battery set up and what size/type would be recommended and can I run two in parallel? 3. What other battery enclosures will fit the board? I"m hoping to build it this week.
Hey Jason. Awesome man. Glad you got your Duo and thanks for your support. Regarding the 7 inch wheels it may work as long as the wheel pulleys will fit. Also for the battery, you can run an additional battery parallel. You will need XT60 parallel battery connector cables Xiboya brand $10.95 on Amazon and comes in a set of 3 . Regarding the enclosure, you can find one Amazon. It's called the DIYE electric skateboard enclosure. It's $21.29 it can fit a 10s3p. Hopefully this helps 👍
That's a really nice board. Wonder if you could use 21700 cells for a bigger battery. This board has all the specs you want though. Don't know whether to get or just go completely DIY. It's hard to find nice battery enclosurers I find
Thanks. Yea the only thing I would want to change on the Duo is the battery. The 10s3p is solid. It does hit the 20 mile range mark but it would be nice to see a bigger battery. I've seen people add an additional enclosure with additional 10s3p battery for more range. Imagine a 12s4p on the Duo .. man that would be perfect. 👍
@@Esk8Tech I’m planning on putting on a 12s4p on my duo once I get it, gonna change the esc to the new esc that bkb came out with and I’m gonna get over 700wh with the 12s4p :)
@@mau_zx6r246 I also have the new Xenith esc on the way for my BKB tayto. Would you mind sharing what type of 12s4p battery is compatible and fits in the enclosure? esk8 noob here.
That would be awesome but I'm not sure if a the Duo enclosure can fit a 12s4p battery. You might be able to squeeze a 10s4p or 10s5p but a 12s4p is a challenge. I'm pretty sure you will need a larger enclosure. Another option is to buy an additional 10s3p and just buy the cable that switches battery packs when the other is drained. I forget what its called but many other DUo board users have done this and are getting an extra 15-20 miles.

Love it man. You covered a lot of stuff about the Duo that others haven't. Did you end up doing a range test and hill climb test? In your last video of the Duo, you mentioned you were going to do them, but I didn't see them in this vid, unless I missed it.
Thanks brotha 👍. Nope still working on the range test and hill test vids. Sorry for the delay. I plan on doing a hill climb comparison between the Duo , Trx2. 0, Black hawk, swift, and Wowgo3x. 🤙
Have had my DUO for about 2 weeks now. Wasn't sure I liked it at first, had a different feel then all my other boards I've ridden. But once I got used to how it road, I am really enjoying it. I have the cloud 105's on mine and also bought the 110 TB wheels like you have. Haven't had a chance to put those on yet. The speed on this board is ridiculous and dangerous lol. Great review.
Throwing my experience in here, the stock 15t pulley has all of the same torque and power when it comes to hill climbing but I found that it would max out at the halfway point of the throttle wheel and you couldn't get anything else out of even if you rolled the wheel to full throttle. Its a hill killer for sure in either configuration, but the 20t keeps giving power past the halfway point of the throttle until you max it out.
Thanks for your review on this awesome board and taking the time! I just ordered mine a few days ago and can't wait. My quick question is what bash guard are you using and did it raise the level of the board or is the same thickness as the riser? I'm new to this so I hope I'm making sense. I love those wheels. Are you keeping the stock grip tape or keeping it natural? I think it looks cool this way
Hey what's up Shawn ! Thanks and Regarding the bash guard I'm using a Romp guard from Romp supply. Totally worth it ! Use code ROMP10 at checkout for 10% off your bash guards. Also it is a little thinner but it doesn't effect the ride so you should be good 👍. Enjoy your Duo and ride safe 🤙

Nice review man. I have the Duo and loving it. Have you tried changing any other settings other than the ramp time and if so how did you find the changes? When you add the Xenith what other changes to the settings will you make?
Thanks. Yes other than ramping times I learned to control throttle curves under Apps settings > PPM> throttle curve tab. Play with these settings to adjust the behavior of your motors in reference to the throttle input. Basically more Torque and Acceleration control. Regarding the XENITH, I just received it today I'm so stoked but after the Installation it will have to be programmed from head to toe. Question, did you had to do any modifications to your board when you installed 20t? I just put on 20t and the motor pulley is rubbing against my wheels. Stock wheels
Hmm. Nope no mods. Make sure the motor pulleys are all the way in and adjust motor mounts if needed. It definitely shouldn't be making contact with the stock 97's.
