I bought a 718 slightly used about 30 years ago and have run thousands of feet of picture frame molding through it without a single problem. Think I paid less than $1500 back then and it came with a decent dust collector system. But your deal really rocks. Woodmaster, good product.
Well, I bought same planer today for $500. Mine came with drum sander, 5 never used molder, two molding knife holder, extra belts and pulleys etc. I am very happy guess I came very close to you.
Hey I love your videos, but I JUST NOTICED the Honda 70 Trail Bike you have in the basement. What a Gem! We had a yellow 50 and the exact same 70 when I was a kid. Wow brought back some memories. I hope you still ride it!
Great video, I had this one or a 725, can't remember which. I had to sell it in 2002 for about the same. I picked it up at the factory in Kansas City, lived in a suburb 20 miles away
Oh my god fantastic video William! And there was so much to look at, great use of tractor! You have probably watched some Neistat videos and this style reminds me of that stuff, very good storytelling, good rhythm with the narration and good foresight whilst filming, as I'm sure you had this exact vibe in mind before you picked up the camera, it suits you very well I'm sure you will have many more stories to tell like this one!
+Wilf You might be the nicest person on the internet! I am a Casey Neistat fan! I definitely thought it was worth filming so I'm glad this was well received.
I love Craigslist too. My lathe is one of those great finds. It’s a G0694 that looks new. I got it from a guy who got divorced and had to sell his tools when he moved to a much smaller place. I paid him $1200 for it and they go new for $3300. It also came with an aftermarket copy attachment and a variety of other attachments. I know it was worth twice what I paid but it was all I had to spend at the time.
I found an old style (4 feed rollers) 25" model on Craigslist for 950.00, it was missing the planer head so I machined the complete assemble, cutter head, gibs, left & right taper shafts. Also added my own hinge kit to the top cover for making accessory change outs much easier.. I am in the process of making (machining) the drum attachment & the rip saw attachments now, have a $9.00 dollar pulley on the way from ebay, still have to source a couple more parts. Instead of paying Woodmaster $69.00 dollars for the ripp saw blades I am buying 6-1/2" diameter blades off ebay for $4.00 and will make the collars to hold the saws. Woodmasters caster kit does not fit my machine ? Made my own. B&M Machining Brookshire, Texas I am curious as to how you unloaded your machine with forks, why didn't you just set it inside the doorway instead of hanging it halfass sideways from the bucket.
Hey bud I'm curious on the old 4 roller machines how you get the head out if they don't have the tapered shafts originally. I understand perhaps you may not know as yours didn't come with it. Thank you in advance.
Dude! So I just picked up an RBI 20.5”, equivalent to this brand I believe. What are your thoughts now that you’ve had it for a while? Any tips I should know?
@@wmwalkerco Woodmaster's website sells the attachment for the 718, and it lets you mount two routers to get the two sides while the original roller is doing the first side. The four side machine is a totally different machine.
Woodmaster people are very good on the phone if you have a problem, have a question or need parts. After you've put a few hours on it pop the hood and check torque on at the gib bolts.Best Woodmaster, as you young folk say, hack; four eyebolts drilled into the corners and a rope and pulley over head to make taking the hood off less of a chore.G.
I actually have almost thrown a planer knife due to a loose gib bolt (that was scary) so now I check them really often. Taking the hood off hasn't been too much of a pain since my assembly table is right there. I just take the nuts off, pop the top off, put it on the assembly table, work on the machine, then put it all together again.
HEY HEY HEY. We need you to shop for us. You sho wuz lucky on that deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We is all happy for you. f stops to board stops, cool. Both are too much fun.
Wm. Walker Co. I saw you replaced the feed rollers and set the springs to factory spec. Check to see if the bed is level and is square. If it has any movement, (up and down at the corner screws) you can loosen the tie bars. (tie bars are what sit on top the of corner and crankscrew, and bolt to the side frames.) Loosen them and apply down ward pressure to eliminate minor bed play. The other thing I've noticed from the video is that the extension tables are the older style extension table, those may cause a minor issue too.
Awesome! Great tips! A little while back I called Woodmaster and talked to a guy. He said that the beds should actually be raised a little, not level(?). The infeed table actually has sort of a hump in it so it might be a good idea to replace those. I'll try fooling with the tie bars too.
mbland43....Since you build these every day....do you ever come across factory refurbished units?? I'm assuming you are in Kansas City. I live in Lincoln, NE just less than 200 miles from you. Definitely interested in a 718 or a 725 if I could get a good deal on one. Thanks for your time. Craig Lamb
Nice!! I ended up selling mine when I got a 20" spiral head but I wish I had kept it before the drum sander, gang rip saw, and moulding capabilities. Kicking myself now!
@@wmwalkerco I've thought about upgrading to a spiral head but I don't want to spend that kind of money on a 12" wide. I'm hoping to keep that for a molder and find a wider planer. My next big purchase is a open ended drum sander.
@@Mostviews111 I have a Jet 15" planer with the spiral cutter head. One thing to note about spiral cutter heads is that they all leave witness lines along the length of the board. They must be sanded out or they will show up in the finish. I am looking at getting a 718 from my FIL's estate and selling my Jet. The Woodmaster has that USA made 5hp Leeson motor whereas my Jet has a 3hp Taiwanese motor.

Good lord what a find!! Why can't I ever come across deals like that?? Very nice indeed..
I scour CL every morning around 7:30 with my morning coffee. They don't come often, but when they do, I'm ready to jump!

Wow... zip ties to hold the box to the column is priceless
Very cool find and great video!

Wow! Great buy William.
+Steve Collins I'm pretty excited about it. I put it to good use last night planing some Curly Walnut. It was awesome!
yup craig can be a real awesome place to find all kinds of good stuff!!
What a great deal! I know I should say congratulations but I'm really jealous on the inside. hehe
+WoodRodent It was an insane find for sure. I'd be jealous too!
I have never found anything on craigslist ...yet. You are the Craigslist whisperer.
I have had some pretty epic Craigslist scores. I don't know how I get so lucky.

Daaaaaang! Nice catch!
on Craigslist i got a Craftsman 113 type contractor's table saw & a Delta scroll saw for FREE. and with some TLC both work.
Lol I picked up mine for 800 with a ton of attachments and a bucket of moulding attachments .are you still using yours?

what a find!
No kidding!
William, what year did you say the machine was from
1992
Killer deal. Love the music

How can we order or buy woodmaster 3side molding system
Do they make a 3 sided moulder? I know they make a 4 sided moulder you can order from woodmastertools.com

I just noticed the CT70. Let's get a video on that!
+jugger18 it's currently in pieces. I plan on ordering a new carb and fuel lines just haven't got around to it.

There's a Woodmaster 718 on CL near me.... $1250
+Steven Lyons yep. A 724 came up recently for $1500. I'm so glad I jumped on this one.
How do you get the planing head out for switching to sawing on these older models
Nice find. You almost have to be on Craigslist 24-7 to hit a deal like that.
I sift through a lot of junk on CL pretty often. I've found some great stuff over the years but this was one of the best deals by far to date.
I build these everyday! good machine!

Thank you for including the wire specifications. There was nothing in the pamphlet about wire size or amps.
Yessir! You're welcome!
that is the best deal I have ever scene
+TJ Dupuis it was one of those deals when I saw it I knew I'd be stupid to not jump on it.
Woodmasters are great (I have a 712, 718 ,and a 725 all found on ebay). The music kind of sucks.
Felt like I was watching a Casey Neistat video! Not a bad thing at all. Great deal and another great video
+Dwayne Duncan Wow thank you! I love his style. That's a huge compliment.
Best deal ev-er!
you should restore that mini bike
It's on the list! I've got it half torn down right now and it needs a new carburetor.

I liked the music.
As someone else said, remove the music. I would say anything impolite, but it really is annoying, and distracts from the story.
