I have had projectors got 20 years amd always used the calibration disc's thinking that was good enough. I had my latest projector calibrated and the improvement from my disc calibration was jaw dropping. A cheaper calibrated projector is better the a more expensive one without it
I also have an NZ8 and was the most noticeable improvement I made upgrading from a lessor projector. I also had mine calibrated, picture is incredible. Question, once the new HDR 2 update occurs, will this require a new calibration?
Are you local to the Denver area since you mentioned him being in town for Cedia? I have an NP5 and did the gamma/color JVC Autocal with the SpyderX sensor, but I'm sure a professional calibration can squeeze out the last few percentage point improvements to really make a difference.
Speaking of black levels, what’s up with the big step backwards in contrast ratio for JVC’s newer projectors? I intentionally purchased the 4K-eshift projector, DLA-RS540, over their native 4K projectors due to it’s much greater native contrast ratio of 130,000:1. (The higher contrast ratio was more important to me than native 4K vs e-shift 4K.) JVC’s top of the line NZ9 still hasn’t caught up to the previous e-shift models. What the heck?!? It’s as if there’s something inherent in the new 4K chips that’s less capable when it comes to contrast. It’s kind of discouraging and hard to consider these projectors upgrades to the older models (which have superior contrast), especially for that kind of coin.
I would recommend the same for your camera too. Horrible quality on video and you guys talk seriously about calibration of the screen. Not to trash you, but just friendly reminder how to get more professional look on your content.
Awesome you were able to get Wayne on. 🎉 you guys are some of the true gems in the industry
Thanks bro! It was a lot of fun having Wayne over.

Do you need to run the projector for any amount of time before calibration
Yes you do. Around 30 mins.
Cedia was in Denver. Do you live near Denver area Steven?
Hey Cody. No I don't live anywhere cool like that. 😁. I'm in Louisiana.

Wayne lives in the Philippines.
I'm in Louisiana. Wayne flew to me just so we could hang out for a few days.
Sammie Prescott is in Colorado Springs and is a top calibrator for projectors.
Great room. How tall are your cielings?

this question to Chris Deutch of JVC, not here
He left JVC.
They're still bringing the best blacks in the game but I know what you mean.

Email me and I'll give you my address so you can send me a better camera and lens so you'll then approve of the video quality... 😁
Still no update to your crowson video. Very disappointing
I'm super busy but that's the next one I'm filming. It's been reviewed already on the Facebook page.
Hello, what HDMI cable are using for your NZ8?
Thank you for awesome videos
Hello, I'm using an 8k monoprice cable. Nothing too fancy as it's only a 20' cable.
