Having dipped my toes in various physical therapies over the years, and angrily rejecting them as useless, I now understand why. Brilliant podcast. They were operating outside my ''Window of Tolerance''.( AND, I imagine, as soon as I stepped outside the room, I'd have been retriggered, regardless of what happened inside the room.) This podcast has given me the understanding that I DO need to go to my body, regardless of how much I don't want to, and of what to expect and why. Thank you. Only one quibble......I can't bear it when this process is referred to as 'GROWTH'. I've been robbed of 68 years of life, twisted, deformed....I want RESTITUTION...I want to be what I would have been if my parents had loved me.
Hello, thank you so much for this important talk, I’m so glad I found this today. I am a 60 year old Norwegian woman and I’m still struggling with healing my attachment trauma from my childhood. I see that Pat Ogdens treatment method is used in Norway and I hope to find a psychologist that can help me. One question though; what is the difference between Pat Ogdens method and Peter Levins Somatic Experiencing method? I have read Peter Levins book, and it seems unclear if this is quite similar? Love from Lise in Norway
Thanks for your comment Lise! I hope you can find someone to work with in your country. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is so powerful. It's actually quite beautiful, now that I've been in level 2 training for the past year learning about healing developmental trauma (in ourselves and our clients) I have experienced it firsthand. Best wishes!
The neuroscience is telling us that profound trauma will alter responses so that people can look quite calm, but are anything but. Reading that as progress, even success, is a minefield.

thank you for sharing your experience! I''m so sorry that you were not treated the way you deserved to be treated in childhood.
